Location: Private Shuttle, First Federation Space
Timeline: MD 02

ON:

Hades and Skye had left early. Their journey had been a short one but they'd used the time to talk and to get to know one another more. Hades had to admit that he had a bit of trepidation at the Starfleet vs. Romulan aspect of this but he was glad that Skye was going home and that she would see it again. He hadn't realized how much he'd missed the colony and the First Federation until he'd resigned. He'd thought that there would be more regret but he felt a peace he hadn't known in a long time.

"So what happens when we get to the colony?"

As she spoke, Skye reappeared in the seat to his right, looking equal parts curious and unsure. She had few, if any, memories of her homeworld. Certainly none she would consider to be true or even close to accurate. And she had grown up, for want of a better word, always being warned off venturing near the First Federation.

Now they were in the heart of their territory.

He smiled. "You will see." Before he could say anything else three ships decloacked. The shields went up automatically and a voice resounded through the small shuttle.

"Trespasser. Drop you shields. We are the Dassik. You are now our prisoners."

Skye’s eyes widened, shooting a look in her father’s direction even as she tried to hide her anxiety. A confined space, no escape routes...

Hades rolled his eyes. "Only a defense mechanism." He hit the hail button. "Stand down. This is Lord Hades of the First Federation Council, Regent of the Verdari people."

There was a brief silence and then a blue beam filled the cabin. "Genetic Scan," he said explaining to Skye.

“A genetic scan? And if they don’t like what they see?”

"It's to verify my claim."

As if in answer to what he'd spoke a voice over coms said, "Lord Hades, Our most sincere apologies. We will tow your shuttle into our ship and escort you home without haste."

Hades snorted. "You bet you will. There will be a ship crossing our borders soon. My people are on it. If it's harmed there will be consequences."

The voice seeming somewhat stressed said, "Aye Lord Hades. Stand by."

He turned to Skye. "See. All clear. We'll be home in a matter of hours."

Skye gave a small, nervous smile. “Are you sure the others will be okay? Maybe we should have brought Carolyn with us..?”

"They will be alright." He turned and grinned. "I'm quite the scary man. It's the Vulcan in me."

Skye studied him for a long moment, clearly considering this. “They obviously haven’t seen the vest you wore to dinner every night for a week.”

For the first time in a long time he threw his head back and laughed. "That vest was good. Very ... fashionable."

Skye rolled her eyes, “in the dark ages maybe...” she quipped, unable to hide her smile at hearing his laugh fill the shuttle. She hadn’t heard it in a long time.

"Well what do you say we go scare some people?" He stood and held out his hand. He was so glad that he'd found her again.

"Sounds good to me," she agreed, taking the offered hand.

The stood just as the shuttle gently jolted as if placed on solid ground. He sighed. "Put on your best I'm the boss and you do what I say face." He grinned and winked.

She laughed before attempting her finest poker face. It wasn’t hard. Hiding things was an important survival tip growing up. “Gotcha.”

The doors opened an several Dassik stood there. They were tall, gangly, and resembled old Earth little green men...just about six fee tall and grey. As Hades exited the shuttle all stood at attention. The leader, or what looked to be the leader stepped forward. "Lord Hades...my apologies. "

"For what? Being late? We got well into First Federation space before you picked us up and you weren't cloaked properly!"

The man jumped. "Apologies ..."

He waved his hand. "Take us to the bridge. This is Lady Skye, my daughter!"

Everyone bowed a little.

Hades turned away from them and gave Skye a grin. "Shall we my dear?"

Skye had stood in stunned silence, staring at the aliens with curiosity. The way the one jumped a mile high when her father spoke was funny but she kept her poker face on. Lady Skye! Ha! “Yes, let’s.”

He turned back to the leader. "Well!"

"Of course yes...Lady...Sir...I will lead you to the bridge." The rest of the men scattered like dominoes. They walked a ways to the turbo lift. Hades allowed Skye to go in first he entered next and the captain after that.

"You dare ride with us?"

The man jumped. "Sorry...I'm new, Sorry." He stepped out.

Hades gave a nod as the doors closed. He smirked. "Now how's that for scary?"

Skye laughed aloud, “he was terrified!”

"Your dad has some tricks." He grinned as the lift headed to the bridge. "So...want to give the ship a course for the colony?"

“Me?” Skye all but squeaked. “But I don’t know where it is...”

"I'll tell you and you give them the orders. Deal?"

Skye grinned, "deal."

"Okay now scary face and here we go!"

She nodded, focusing on a stern no nonsense type of look.

The door opened and Hades strolled out as if he owned the bride. Those in attendance stood at attention. Hades walked around eyeing each man and woman while the captain burst through a secondary door. "Sir...I.."

"Captain! My bridge I assume?"

"Y...Yes sir."

"Good! Skye take the Captain's seat. This is my daughter. She will take us home."

He took the XO's chair waiting for Skye to come down to the command chair.

By far the most diminutive figure in the room, Skye walked with confidence to the chair which sat dead centre of the room. As she sat, she leaned into it, the chair seemed to shift in response, adjusting to mirror her body and provide the right blend of comfort and support even as she spun it in a circle. Just... because.

“Not bad,” she commented. And then for the benefit of the real captain who seemed to relax a little, she added in a louder tone, “not great. Maybe if the seats were less comfortable, they would have found us sooner?”

Hades resisted the urge to smile. "I think you are right" He looked at her. "Shall we head home."

“Lets,” Skye nodded.

He whispered a code sequence to her. "Set course Lady Skye."

"Lay in the following course at maximum speed," Skye instructed before relaying the coordinates her father had given. When she got a vague nodding gesture which she took to mean the course was set, she grinned, "then what are we waiting for? Lets go."

Hades smiled. His daughter was turning out to be a chip off the old block.
