Mission: Episode 109 - The Dust Settles
Location: SB 400 Tom's Quarters
Timeline: MD1 - 1700hrs

Splendora came back to Tom's quarters. He was due back soon so she focused on making dinner for them, something she'd gotten better at as time went on. Her head was filled with a lot of things. After speaking with Hades she was even more confuse. She was so lost in thought that she didn't hear the door.

Tom had come from the restaurant. He'd explained things to Vito who was willing to go, and make sure the staff was prepared while he was away.

Walking in, he could smell something...something burning. He hurried into the kitchen area and saw Splendora. "What's going on?"

"Oh! The food!" She hurried to the food but it was beyond repair. "Oh no! I burned the food." She looked at Tom. "I'm so sorry. I was thinking about all this...." She sighed. "I really wanted to make something nice."

Tom smiled, "Don't think another thought about it." He walked in and started to clean up, putting the dishes and the remains of the food into the food slot and watching them return to energy.

"I'll have something sent down from the restaurant." Tom added as he tapped in a few commands on a wall panel.

"Have you given anymore thought about the request?" Tom asked.

She sighed. "Yeah. I'm...torn. I was hoping to talk to you about it."

Tom nodded, "We can't let the Romulans..." he trailed off and sat down. "What's on your mind?"

"I know who the leader of the Rebirth colony is. In fact...he's high up on the First Federation Council...and he's here on the station."

"Wait, he's here?" Tom asked. "I wonder if Rogers knows, and that's why he was pushing so hard for you to help him."

"I don't think so." She sighed. "He's...my half brother Tom."

"Oh mio." Tom said.

He took a seat and started thinking. "We can take him with us, being your half brother you need the support. Get him away from Rogers and if he agrees to help, then he can return with us. If not, he can remain there and away from Rogers."

"Ohhhh he's been holding his own." She cleared her throat. "Tom....Armand, the leader of the Rebirth colony...is Hades."

Tom just sat there, staring at Splendora for a moment. "Next you're going to tell me Vito is a Changeling."

After a moment he took a deep breath then stood. "Alright. Then the three of us, Vito, maybe a science officer or two, we take my ship and have a talk with the First Federation. Hades has seen first hand the destruction from the war, the slaughter and the death. If the Romulans get Rebirth, as desperate as they are, can you imagine what they might do? Especially with the Borg tech they have from the Artifact."

"It's...more complicated." She walked over and Tom and took his hand. "Can I count on your....confidence?"

Tom nodded. He hated secrets, but obviously under the circumstances he understood the need. "Tell me."

"Hades is not exactly impressed with Starfleet. The Romulans...have been instrumental in finding the scientists that were responsible for Rebirth and handing them over to the First Federation, specifically the Verdari, the Rebirth colonists."

Tom stood up, "So he'd rather side with the stronzo Romulans!"

He walked a few steps away and took a deep breath. "You know what the Romulans have done over the last year, not to mention the last couple of centuries. "If this falls into the Romulans hands, it'll mean another war."

"I have a plan." She said.

Tom raised an eyebrow. "Care to share?"

"Can we get something official? Like a promise that the Rebirth colony will be left alone? A formal apology?"

"I'm sure a hands off policy can be pushed for, as for an apology..." Tom shook his head. "Let's work for the hands off policy and formal talks first."

She sighed. "Alright. I'm sorry Tom."

Tom just nodded.
