Cratteris Mission

Mission: Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: USS Steadfast
Timeline: MD1-1730 hrs

The Steadfast arrived at Cratteris. Alex sat in her command chair watching the screen as they approached the area. This was the one time that she had wished they had a cloaking device.

"Keep an eye on the sensors." Alex added, "I want to make sure that the intel was correct. Any other ships in the area besides what we were told?"

Lt. Clayton answered, "It's pretty scarce out there. I think we can successfully achieve our goal."

Alex nodded, "Very good."

The closer they got, the quieter the bridge crew was. As they got closer, Alex turned to Doyle, "Get us to their defensive shields and take them out then we'll go for their comm system."

"Yes ma'am." He answered.

Vega had a suggestion, "I was thinking. They will attack us, that is a given. If we could kill two birds with one stone as the Earth saying goes. Once we take out their defensive shields and go for their Comms, we could take one of the shuttles and raid the supply depot. They'll be so focused on the Steadfast trying to destroy their comm relays, they won't be expecting it."

Doyle chimed in, "That might work."

Alex listened, "Work it out but hurry. We don't have much time."

They got their plan all worked out and crossed their fingers. The shuttle with Doyle and Vega departed and hid behind the ship with shields up. As they approached, Alex gave the order, "Shields up! Get the quantum torpedoes ready and target the defensive shields." She knew that once they were down, they'd be attacked, "Go to yellow alert."

Engineering reported in, "Ready."

Alex yelled out, "Fire!" The defensive shields were not a match for the quantum torpedo. The Steadfast got though but as soon as that happened, Cratteris was alerted and the afore mentioned Scorpion Class fighters and Mogai Class squadron went into action. The Steadfast status changed to red alert.

"Shields on maximum. Fire! I want those comm relays out of commission." Alex hoped that they would get out of this unscathed. They took many hits as well as the enemy's ships. The Scorpion Class fighters were easy to take out but the Mogai Class was more difficult. The Steadfast finally took out the comm relays while those on the shuttle raided the supply depot.

Still fighting the Mogi class, the shuttlecraft crew finished their task but they had to fight their way back to the Steadfast. The shuttle got hit once more which disabled it. The shuttlecraft started smoking and was dead in space.

Alex called out, "Lower shields and beam them up."

The tactical officer sighed, "If we lower shields..."

Alex cut him off, "I know, I know. Do it!"

The Steadfast successfully beamed them on board. They raised shields again but before they could, they were hit once more. It knocked out communications. The ship turned and fled. The Mogi class ships stopped pursuing them.

Doyle and Vega returned to the bridge. Shrok reported the problem with the ships communication system and that he was going to go work on it so they could contact the Enterprise and report in. Both Doyle and Vega took their seats.

"Shrok. As soon as you get that fixed, let us know."

"Yes Captain." He walked off the bridge.
