Mission:
Episode 107 – Recovery
Location: USS Falcon Bridge
Timeline: MD02 0800 hrs
"I did not think we we would be back on this ship so soon?" Dustin said with a chuckle to his tone. Most of the bridge stations were powered down, the lights were on a low setting.
“We should have known,” Sarah said with a smile. “It is the nature of our jobs after all.”
"Lucky Sir, its just a quick systems check." Dustin pointed out to her. They had already stocked the ship, she would be ready to go, if they neeed to be.
“Let’s get her done,” Sarah said as she headed over to the operations station. “Then we can go on the station and relax for a while.”
"Let's get her done? Are we hillibillies now?" Dustin said, with a playful grin on his face. Then he got nervous, realizing who he said that too, "Sir." He quickly added to save face.
Sarah laughed softly. “At ease, we’re running a systems check.” She looked at the panel. “ The answer is Yes I am.” She looked over at him.”And you?”
"I did not know that, sorry Commander. I did not mean to come across as rude or offensive." Dustin said, feeling like he kicked himself in the butt, really hard. He hoped, she accepted his apology.
“I wasn’t offended,” Sarah hoped her smile put his fears to rest. “I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.” She paused. “So apology accepted.”
"Glad to hear that." Dustin said, as little at a loss for words. He fel like he was in the hotseat, and it was all his own doing.
Sarah thought for a moment. "We're here to run a test, it's just the two of us, not like we're all on the bridge and officially on duty. Relax and we can get this done and go have some fun like everyone else is."
"Yes sir, but still a little inappropriate." Dustin said, liking the fact that she was being more forgiving that he was to himself.
"I can see where you feel that way," Sarah nodded. "But we're good. Please, put it behind you and we can move on from there." She understood that there was a line between her and the crew but she didn't want Dustin to obsess over this.
"Understood, and thank you ma'am." Dustin said, trying to bury his concerns.
Sarah turned to him. “I have an idea, what If we go get a drink when we are through there? Maybe the others will show up and we can socialize a bit.”
"Lets do it." Dustin said, not wanting to say no. He was a little worried, if he drink. He might say or do something dumb. He told himself, to control his drinking. And try not to be nervous, and over compensate with drinking.
“Let’s go!” Sarah could tell he was nervous and hoped that once they started to relax he would open up a bit. “It’s funny how we all congregate at the same places isn’t it?”
"Well we did spend the last few months together, in close quarters." Dustin pointed out to Sarah. He did not get the reference she was saying, because he was a little anxious, about not messing up drinking with the first officer.
“That is true,” Sarah nodded. “I was thinking of more even when we are on the base.” She smiled at him. “Lighten up, were off duty, I am not your boss right now.”
"As long as you have more pips on your collar than I do, you will always be my boss. Does not mean though, we can not get a drink." Dustin said, trying to be comical, when he said that. Sadly he was not known for being funny, so it may have came across as a desperate plea, to soak in his own misery. In his eyes, she was still boss, even if they were off duty.
“That is true but I won’t call you out when we are out having a good time,” Sarah replied. “I would like us all to be able to hang out and you not feel like you have to act a certain way.”
"I appreciate that, and I will do my best to comply." Dustin said, sounding like a Borg drone. He wanted to smack himself, for saying he would try to comply. He was no drone.
Sarah grinned. “Once we get a couple drinks in you, you’ll loosen up and then we can be friends having a good time.”
"Good, there is a girl I want to impress, maybe loosing up a little bit, might be a good thing." Dustin suggested with a big grin on his face.

SB400 Woodhouse's Sickbay
MD03 0810 hrs
"Hey Doc, why am I here?" Sam asked, as little surprised that the good doctor wanted to see him. His last check up, which was over a year a go, showed him to be in good health.
“You know regulations,” Anna said seriously though there was a twinkle in her eyes. “Even the Captain doesn’t get by with skipping physicals.”
"I can go and get him, if you like?" Sam said, with a big grin on his face. They were the same rank, he could tease her a little bit. He was trying to make himself, feel more comfortable with being in sickbay.
Anna laughed softly. “Wouldn’t that be something you leading him in here for a physical.” She shook her head and grinned. “It might be safer for us to let him find his way.”
"You are probably right." Sam said, as he sat down on the bio bed. He knew there was no getting out of this.
“Tell me,” Anna asked as she started a scan. “Why are you scared of having a physical? Hiding something?”
"Why do doctors assume its fear?" Sam asked, changing the topic very fast. He wanted to take the spotlight off him, and place it on her.
“What else could it be?” Anna asked. “They are pretty painless.” She paused. “Well unless we find something but you are very healthy.”
"A lot of things, Doctor. But thanks for the confirmation of my health." Sam said, as he was surprised to hear her say that. Was she really the doctor, or a Mach one EMH disguesed as her.
"I am a doctor 24/7," Anna replied. "Not just when I am in my office. Part of being good at my job is observing those around me. Sometimes an illness can be detected by observation and not from a scan. I would be very surprised to find anything odd in your phyysical"
"I have always hated that saying, 24/7." Sam pointed out to her, then went on. "But I do appreciate your honesty, so your saying I have a clean bill of health?" Sam asked. After hearing her say, that she would be surprised to find something.
"Truthfully I don't care for it much either," Anna admitted. "But in my case it is true. A doctor is never really off duty." She smiled then. "You passed your physical with flying colors. If all my patients were like you then I wouldn't be needed here." Her eyes sparkled at her attempt at humor.
"Thanks, I think?" Sam said, not sure what she meant by that. He hoped it meant, he was in good health.
“You are in excellent health,” Anna explained. “You passed your physical for another year and won’t have to worry for a while.”
"Thanks doc." Sam said, getting a little antsy to leave sickbay. Anna was nice in all, but he did not want to be doing physicals, he would prefer to be on the station with Sarah, and spending time together.
“Where are you headed?” Anna asked him. “I’m going on the base to look for the captain. If you’re headed that way maybe we could walk together.”
"Sure why not." Sam said, his plan was to head to the bar to meet up with Sarah. "I am heading to the bar, I can walk with you part way, unless you want to get a drink with the xo and I?" Sam asked, being polite and courteous.
“That would be great,” Anna nodded. “Let me send Zeke a message and he can meet up with us.”
"Perfect, I will let Sarah know, we are having company." Sam said, with a big grin on his face. Both Sam and Anna, let their partners know.
“Zeke said he will meet us,” Anna replied with a smile. “I am looking forward to us all being able to relax together.”
"It will be a nice change of pace. To sit back and relax." Sam said, with a big smile on his face. They were both dating officers, that out ranked them. Which in itself, was a cool thing.
“I think so,” Anna agreed. “We all need some down time and to socialize as a group once in awhile.”
"Agreed." Sam said, as the scene starts to fade away.

USS Falcon Engineering Bay
MD03 0815 hrs
Sarah and Dustin were not the only two on the USS Falcon. Ezekiel had scheduled a walk through with Aubrey, to secure engineering. "Right on time Lieutenant." Ezekiel called out, making notice that she was right on time for their meeting.
“You know I am a sticker for being on time,” Aubrey said with an easy smile. “I am sure you’ve heard the rumor that I hate tardiness.” It has always been an irritation for her.
"Nothing wrong with being on time. A good trait to have." Ezekiel said, with a grin on his face. He liked the fact, she was on time. "Let's do a walk through, so we can head back to the station." Ezekiel suggested to her.
“Yes Captain,” Aubrey nodded with a smile. “I think everyone was a little anxious to get there.” She said as they started walking through engineering.
"According to the logs, the ship preformed at peak efficiency. No doubt thanks to you and your team." Ezekiel pointed out to her.
“I run a tight department,” Aubrey explained though he already knew that. “We are the heart of the ship and as you can see everything is at one hundred percent.” She hated in effectiveness.
"And I appreciate that, please convey to your crew, how proud I am of all of you." Ezekiel called out, with a big grin on his face.
“I will do that,” Aubrey replied with a nod. She was a little nervous that he would find something wrong. She had gone over Engineering to make certain but it was the perfectionist in her.
"Well that was painless, you want to get a cup of coffee, I have a feeling the others are not almost done, and it would give me a chance to get to know my chief engineer." Ezekiel said, with a concerned look on his face. He was not one for socializing. Anna told him, as CO, he needed to get better at it.
"Yes Sir," Aubrey nodded. She was a little nervous about having coffee with the captain but he was right, a good crew was one where everyone got along and knew each other on a personal level as well as professional. "I would like that." She added.
"Alright then, follow me." Ezekiel said, as the scene starts to fade away.
Ezekiel and Aubrey were sitting on the promenade. They both were sitting there drinking coffee. "It's so good to be back on this station." Ezekiel called out, with a big grin on his face.
"Yes it is,"Aubrey nodded in return. "I like the Falcon but this is our home as well." She smiled at him. "You have any plans while you are here?'
"Yes, take a day off." Ezekiel said with a big grin on his face. "How about you?" Ezekiel asked.
“I plan to relax and enjoy a day or two,” Aubrey confesses. “And spend some time working on a relationship.” She couldn’t believe she said that...to the captain.
"Good idea, never take a relationship for granted." Ezekiel suggested. He wanted to ask more, but knew it would be inappropriate. So he controlled his urge to ask her.
“I don’t plan to,” Aubrey said with a smile. “I think he and I have dodged around each other long enough.”
"Taking it slow, I take it?" Ezekiel asked. He was a little curious to hear more. He knew he should not pry, but her tone made him curious.
“We have been,” Aubrey replied with a nod. “We want to make certain it’s going to last, especially since we serve together.”
Anna had just beeped in. "You want to join us tonight at the bar, Anna said, that Sam, Sarah and Dustin will be going." As soon as he said, that Dustin had called Aubrey.
Ezekiel expected Aubrey to say stand by one, while she checked in with Dustin.
Dustin opened the line. "The senior staff is getting to together for drinks tonight, do you want to come with me?" He asked, over the subspace call.
Aubrey smiled and replied. “Yes I would love to come with you. I am with the captain shall we meet up there since he is headed that way?” She turned to Bagwell. “We will be coming along.”
"Glad to hear, it." Ezekiel said, as the scene starts to fade away.
