Mission: Episode 106 – Stalemate
Location: USS Mercy
Timeline: MD5 0900 hrs

"You...did...what?" Kaden asked trying to keep his anger in check when Freya told him about trading spots with Olivia O'Reilly. He balled his hands into a fist till his knuckles was white trying hard to not smash his fist thru the bulkhead next to him.

"Please don't be angry!" Freya sighed. "It's not like I'm doing any of my duties at the moment, I'd be perfectly safe helping out in Sickbay aboard the Pegasus. They'll need all the hands they can get when we eventually retake our home. I'd like to be out there fighting for it Kaden, not sitting here doing nothing! "

Kaden raised his hand not wanting to hear anymore it is not like he had a choice in the matter. He was still recovering and Bremer himself wants him on the sidelines for this one. With a one swing Kaden struck the punching bag him and Freya used in the corner of their room. Causing it to swing side to side as he went to their bedroom tossing his cane aside. Not saying anything more he kicked his shoes off and removed his brace before laying down his back to Freya and covered up with a sheet.

Freya knew when not to push her luck with Kaden, all she’d done was to upset him. She took a seat on the end of the bed to give him some time to cool down.

Kaden watched Artemis join him in bed and lay next to him as if sensing his owner needed him. Stroking his cat it helped calm him down a bit but he still had his back to Freya. "I don't want anything to happen to you and our son." He told her.

“I don’t plan on putting my health or that of our son at risk” she sighed. “I just wanted to be useful. There’s no real reason for me to be on a full length pregnancy break! Yes, it was a gift from General Hurd but I feel guilty! Other pregnant women have to work, Ariana is working and she worked for the duration of her last pregnancy too!”

Kaden rolled over in the bed to face Freya better his hand still gently petting his cat. "If you want to go back to work that bad why didn't you just ask me straight up?" He asked.

“No it’s just ... I feel guilty watching others work.” She offered a brief smile. “I’m not going against the gift General Hurd bestowed on me, this is just a one off and that’s if General Dartt sees fit to allow me to go aboard ship in the event of a retaking Starbase 400. She may not even agree.”

"Good, cause I won't have you two out there in danger while I am cooped up back here at this place." Kaden replied feeling Artemis now climb on top of him for more attention. With a sigh Kaden resumed petting his cat again listening to him purr with happiness.

Freya sighed again. “Kaden ... as much as I appreciate what General Hurd did for me, it’s driving me nuts feeling like I’m nothing but a spare wheel around here! You’ve got an excuse for being off your duties, I’m just pregnant! Pregnancy isn’t a disability!”

Kaden watched Artemis jump down and gracefully leave the two lovebirds to talk. But as he sat up pulling back the sheet he could understand the woman he loved so much feeling well...stir crazy. "Hurd, did go a bit overboard didn't he?" He began

Resting his hands on his knees all Kaden could was shake his head. "Okay, let's admit he was being very thoughtful giving you all this time off. But honestly between you and me it was going to drive you nuts eventually and you my dear sweet Freya rather do something constructive." He looked at up at Freya. "Am I right?"

Freya nodded. “So what do you have in mind that’s constructive for me to do?”

Kaden pulled a box out from under the bed and opened it reaching inside he took out a Starfleet Marine uniform tailored for a expecting mother. "Come do light duty with me?" He asked smiling.

Freya looked at the uniform then at Kaden before nodding like a noddy dog toy. “You’ve been expecting this all along and had this made for me?!” She stood and slipped out of her dress before putting the uniform on and looking at herself in the mirror. “It does look good.” She grinned. “Actually there’s something I should have said earlier ... General Dartt refused me.” She hung her head. “She wasn’t willing to go against General Hurd’s orders.”

Kaden deep down was glad to hear Dartt keep Freya from danger but he sympathized her need to be useful. "I can understand her keeping you and our son out of the battle but I think she be okay letting you work on light duty if signed off by a doctor." He offered her a smile. "We both can get used to our new jobs together."

Freya nodded. “Then I’ll go see a doctor and see what they have to say.” Freya smiled warmly.

"I am sure the doctor will let you long as you take it easy." Kaden replied smiling back.

He wrapped his arms around Freya resting his hands on her baby bump. "Sorry, I got mad it is just...I care about you and our son I want you to know that."

“That’s okay” Freya smiled as she looked at Kaden. “I guess I did let my enthusiasm get the better of me.”

"I know the feeling of wanting to be useful trust me ," Kaden said sitting down on the bench next Freya's vanity as he rubbed his knee. "Drives me nuts at times I am on the sidelines but I am still having issues about joining Starfleet."

“Because you joined for Ariana ...” Freya nodded. “So what about me? Just because you broke up with Ariana it doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t have joined. Perhaps you’d have joined to be with me instead?”

Kaden wasn't sure how to best answer that but Freya certainly had a good point if he hadn't they wouldn't had met. "I won't lie you make a good point there be no us if I had not joined. But you know where my goal in life was to be just a modern mountain man. Honestly come to think of it doubt you be happy with that kind of life with me."

“Well it’s something we can do for shoreleave, find ourselves a patch of land somewhere not too far from the station for travelling’s sake. It would have to be somewhere safe and suitable of course.” Freya smiled. “As for Starfleet, like you said we would never have met if you hadn’t joined.”

Kaden waved Freya off as he took her hand. "Hey, let's not worry about land right now for us to vacation let's focus on you and me right now getting to work again on light duty." He told her.

Freya nodded. “I’ll go to Sickbay and get clearance, then we can plan what you want me to do.”

"Be my assistant what else!"

Freya smiled and offered a salute. “Aye, Aye Sir!” She couldn’t help but grin.

Kaden gently rubbed his knee as he could feel a bit of pain coming from it but he hoped these small set backs didn't delay his return. "In the meantime I need to talk to Corrigan about seeing if I can return to light duty without the cane. Starting to feel like an old man with that thing." He said.

“You my love ... are no old man!” Freya smiled as she leaned in for a romantic kiss. “You are everything I need and more. I’ll do what I can to help your recovery.”

Kaden pointed to his knee with a half grin. "Tell that to my knee." He replied.

“Give it time Imzadi” She grinned. “Do as your physio tells you and you’ll be good as new in no time!”

Kaden's face turned red as he nervously smiled. "Uh, yeah about that." He began the poor guy was so hung up on Freya he had yet the time to tell of the morning rumble with Kendall. " Babe, I may of sort of punched my physio this morning."

Kaden could see Freya lift a eyebrow prompting him to raise his hands. "Not on purpose! Of course." He quickly added.

“I certainly hope not!” Freya looked at Kaden in surprise. “So what happened?”

Kaden sighed unsure where to start he felt it was best Freya read his thoughts of the incident. "Care to use our bond for the gory details?" He suggested.

“If you want me to” She looked at him curiously. Kaden wasn’t normally happy with her getting inside his head. Remember what to do? Just close your eyes and focus on what you want me to see.” She gently rested her hand on his cheek to better get a connection, telepathy was tiring at the best of times.

It was true Kaden wasn't one to let a telepath poke around but it was best she get the full picture what all happened. Besides he trusted her enough that Freya not poke around in other places she wasn't supposed to. He did everything he was taught to so she see how much a stubborn ass Kendall was. Not only that watch the moment the moron touched his injured leg that caused Kaden to smash his face out of reflex.

Freya gasped as she pulled her hand away, sometimes experience by telepathy could be a little too realistic. “Well ... now I see what happened.” She took a few moments to readjust. “It wasn’t your fault, no doubt Kendall will be more wary around you now.” She grinned before giving him a romantic kiss.
