ON:

No sooner had Ariana stepped off the Mercy then she received the call everyone dreaded, her father had been injured during the battle. Racing to Sickbay she was greeted by Christina who'd also been called.

"Ariana" Christina was looking extremely worried. "Have they told you anything?"

Ariana shook her head. "No, they haven't. Hopefully it's not too serious, Dad's tough he won't give up that easily especially as he has you and the baby to come home to."

They both stood nervously waiting.

After making sure the USS Kearsarge was secure, Lennox made his way to Sickbay. When he arrived he saw Monroe and Rivera-Hurd. He walked over to them. "Has the medical staff said anything?"

Ariana shook her head. "No nothing. What happened?"

"About midway through the battle the ship took a hit near the bridge. We were tossed about. The Ensign at Flight Control was trying to catch his breath after hitting his head on the panel. The General took his seat to pilot the ship when we were hit again and the panel blew out. Your father was throw back to the captain's chair. He suffered burns, a concussion, and a broken clavicle. Medics got him down to Sickbay as soon as they could." Lennox explained.

Christina stood unable to say anything, moving across to a seat she sat down. Moving across to comfort her Ariana looked at Lennox. "We heard that the Kearsarge had taken a pounding but I didn't for a minute think..." She paused. "Thank you for letting us know what happened."

Lennox gave a respectful nod. "You're welcome."

The Major paused for a moment, then departed. He knew when there was news he'd be informed. For now however his first priority was to get the Kearsarge repaired as fast as possible.

"So now we wait" Ariana sighed. "Why does he have to be so..." She looked at Christina. "Are you okay? Is there anything you need?"

"Just my husband" Christina sighed.

Just then a nurse approached them. "Excuse me Mrs Hurd, Counsellor. The General is asking to see you both, I'm afraid you won't be able to stay long as he's due to be sedated for treatment."

Ariana nodded. "Thank you" She looked to Christina as they both moved into Sickbay, seeing Hurd on a biobed being his usual stubborn self.

Hurd was sitting up. Thankfully he wasn't restrained. They knew better. "Where the hell am I?" He looked around as he tried to get up.

"You're in Sickbay!" Ariana rushed over to her father trying to stop him from moving. "You have a broken clavicle, they're going to sedate you soon so they can fix it."

"You had us worried!" Christina moved across to her husband's side.

Ariana stood looking at her father, she hadn't had chance to explain what she'd had to do while off station yet. She just hoped he didn't ask as she knew exactly how he'd react.

"Sedate me? Can't they just mend the bone with some tool? I don't want to just sit here." Hurd replied.

"That's why they're sedating you!" Ariana gave her father a knowing look, "For once Dad just do as you're told and you'll be out of here all the quicker!"

Christina stood looking at her husband. "You could have been killed David! where would that have left us?" She shook her head, more annoyed with herself than him. "I'm sorry, I know you had to go with the Fleet. I was just...afraid we'd lost you!"

"I'll never die, I have the eye of the tiger." Hurd smirked.

"Once you're better we need to talk." Ariana looked at her father. She hadn't had chance to tell him about her blend of personality with the S31 half of herself but she knew he'd be peeved when he heard what she'd done.

"Talk about what? Don't hold back, spit it out." Hurd replied.

"Dad I..." She looked at Christina then back at Hurd. "I didn't have a choice, I allowed Hades people to blend my personality with that of the section 31 personality I was carrying around. It was the only way to control her." She paused. "I'm still me, it's just...going to take a couple of months for my mind to fully absorb and settle with my blended self."

Hurd's eyes glared over. "Get out, get the hull out! I don't know you anymore!" He forced himself to his feet. "Leave!"

"Dad! Please!!" Ariana looked at Christina.

"David, that's enough! She's your daughter, she needs you!"

"She needs?" Hurd started.

A medical officer came in. Hurd tried to brush him away, but he was took weak to put up much of a struggle. The medic gave him a hypo and Hurd quickly fell back on the bio-bed. However, he's made up his mind first. Once he was out of sickbay he was going hunting for Section 31!

Ariana backed away from her father's bedside. "I...I'll come back later." She gave Chrissy a teary eyed look before rushing out of Sickbay.

Standing at her husband's bedside Christina shook her head. David was a stubborn man, but she loved him nonetheless. Now all she could do was sit down and wait.
