Mission: Episode 104 - A Glimmer of Hope...
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2 - 1010hrs

ON:
Draven tapped in several commands on the holo-display he was working on in the CiC.

“I just heard from II, they also confirm, less than eight hours.” Rann said.

“The Bird of Prey Imperial Intelligence had shadowing them has gone dark.” Cross added.

“Probably destroyed.” Hannigan guessed.

Draven nodded. “That won’t give us much time.”

Ten minutes later Draven was in Bremer’s Office.

Mike was looking over a PADD before he dropped it on his desk. “And you’re sure?”

“Yes sir and the Klingons see the same thing. There’s a Typhon Pact fleet making its way into the Triangle now comprised of Romulan, Krazzle, Gorn, Breen, Tholian, and Miradore ships, and all one thousand, one hundred, and eighty-seven of them they’ll be at the edge of the Kaleb System in less than eight hours.” Draven said grimly.

“There’s no way the station and our support ships can defend again a fleet of that size. Even with the remaining ships of the Seventh Fleet nearby.” Mike said equally grim.

“This fleet comprises more than half of the Pact’s remaining ships, and over two-thirds of their ships in the Beta Quadrant.” Draven added.

“How many people do we still have aboard the Station?” Mike asked.

“We still have a crew of over fifty thousand and an additional five thousand civilians. Thank God most of the civilians left when the war started.” Draven paused, “There’s an additional problem.”

Mike nodded, “Civilians on Kaleb IV. There’s over one hundred thousand people down there.”

“Well, while you were away Governor Agard asked people to willingly leave until the war’s end. However only about fifteen thousand left. Pat was able to get about a dozen Wallenberg class transports allocated and they’re in orbit of the planet now, but between them and our ships we still can’t get everyone out nor do we have time to do it.” Draven explained.

“I’ll contact Pat, ask him to speak to Governor Agard to get more people to leave. Even if the Governor makes the evacuation order mandatory we just don’t have the ships. In the meantime I want all non-essential personnel loaded onto ships of the Seventh Fleet and taken to DS6. If we can’t hold the line here we can at least get DS6 back to fighting strength.” Mike paused. He hoped Dow could convince the Governor to leave too.

“Send a message to Commodore Jansen and ask him to send two task forces to assist the civilian evacuation too. I know the Second Fleet is still recovering from their losses, but it looks like we’re all about to be pulled extremely thin. The Station and our remaining support ships will have to hold the line until everyone is clear.” Mike said. “Once clear, we’ll fall back to SB23 with the support ships.”

Draven looked up from his PADD. “It’ll take the Commodore about six hours to get here, it doesn’t give us must time.”

Mike turned away for a moment and looked out the window at Kaleb IV below. “I’m also going to ask Mister Vox and Mister Korel if we can pile some civilians aboard their ships too. We don’t have any other options.”

“I never thought you’d give the order to abandon Starbase 400.” Draven said.

Mike took a breath, “Neither did I.”
