Christina sat at her husband's bedside, since their honeymoon and arrival back on the Starbase life had seemed a giant nightmare. Now her husband was in recovery she was finally starting to feel a little better, more relaxed and definitely a lot safer. She was busy going over some work on a PADD when a shadow fell over her, she smiled as she looked up to see Ariana.

"As requested" A young woman appeared at Hurd’s bedside. Ssmiled as she handed some more PADDs to Christina. “Lieutenant Monroe asked me to drop these off to you. She’s had to go off station.” Olivia looked at Hurd. “How is your husband doing?”

"The Doctors tell me he'll be alright, his body has some recovering to do but all in all he should recover." Christina offered a smile. “May I ask did Ariana say why she was leaving the station and how long she’d be gone?”

"I'm sorry no she didn’t but she left this message." Olivia handed over a message. She gave Christina a smile. "How are you doing? Is everything alright with you after recent events?"

Christina nodded. "I'm still sore and stiff, but everything is healed. The baby wasn't harmed, the doctors said it was fortunate I'm at an early stage or it could have been a different story. “When I asked Ariana that she just said she was fine and that she must be hard headed.”

Hurd laughed, then coughed a little. Looking at them both, He added, "To be around me, I guess you have to have a hard head". Pondering his thoughts for what seemed an eternity, but in reality was only seconds he continued, "So I took down the Operative in Single Hand To Hand Combat, guess this old man still has it"

Both Christina and Olivia breathed a huge sigh of relief. "You gave us quite a scare David" Christina gently took her husband's hand.

“Perhaps I should leave the two of you to have some privacy.” Olivia smiled warmly. “One last thing, Ariana asked me to ask you to help look after Stacie and help Cameron while she’s off station.”

"I've got no problem with that", Hurd said.

Olivia looked at Hurd curiously. His emotions were a blank to her, she couldn’t sense him at all. “General...” Olivia looked at Christina then back at Hurd. “Lieutenant Monroe has travelled off station with Doctor Hades. She just told me to say that he’d found a way to help her and that she’s expected to be back in a few weeks. She obviously wasn’t looking forward to leaving Stacie behind but she wasn’t allowed to take her with her.”

“Thank you Lieutenant” Christina smiled as she looked at Olivia. “I appreciate you coming here to tell us, we will honour Ariana’s request.”

Olivia nodded and headed on her way leaving the Hurd’s to talk.

“Relax David, I’m sure Doctor Hades knows what he’s doing.” Christina held her husband’s hand. “Ariana trusts him, and if he can help through whatever it is then so much the better.”

Sitting up, Anger blazing in his eyes, he said, "Bullshit, have my ship redied for departure and clear it with base command, even if they say no I'm still going after them". Gritting his teeth, Hurd added, "I know exactly what she is doing and they are both in over their heads".

“David, you are going nowhere! You are not fit to be out of Sickbay yet!” Christina stood at her husband’s bedside hoping she’d be be able to talk some sense into her husband. “Ariana knows what she’s doing, she’s not a teenager she’s a grown woman and Doctor Hades will take good care of her!”

Getting even more pissed off, Hurd said, "Then you are relived of duty, if nobody on this base will help me, I'll do it myself", he finished, reaching for his Pistol Belt. "Even if it means hijacking my own ship I'll do it".

Christina looked at her husband in shock and surprise. "Oh and does that relieve me of the duty of being your wife as well?!" She looked at him obviously upset with the way he'd spoken to her. "If you want to go out there and end up either killing yourself in the effort or coming back to a court martial then you feel free!" She stood up and saluted. "Sir!!" With that she turned and left in tears.

Yelling at the top of his voice, Hurd said, "Will you please come back here, I'm sorry!!!".

Christina stopped walking and gave it a moment before slowly turning around and returning to her husband’s bedside. She wasn’t normally a weak natured woman but her hormones were all over the place thanks to being pregnant. She stood just out of arms reach as she wiped away the tears that were running down her face. “I will not...watch you be so...stupid.”

"Then what would you have me do?". "You know whats been going on lately, I just feel weak and useless sitting here doing nothing".

Christina moved closer. “I know you’re used to being the strong marine and that Ariana is your daughter, but you’re still recovering from your injuries. I almost lost you twice David! Your heart stopped and it’s only due to the efforts of Doctor Reid and the medical staff that you’re here now!” She paused. Ariana is a grown woman and she wouldn’t leave her fiancé and daughter unless she was sure that it was the right thing to do.”

"I'm just scared for her is all, if she's gone after anything to do with 31, she's in more danger than she knows".

Chrissy nodded. "Olivia did say that she was with Doctor Hades, I'll admit I haven't met the Doctor but I'm sure he wouldn't let any harm come to Ariana. He is a doctor after all."

"You want me to trust the safety of my Daughter to a Doctor against 31?". "I'd no sooner do that than trust your safety to him either, I'd rather she'd have told me, I would have sent Marines with them".

“In all honesty David, I don’t know what’s happening with Ariana. I have a feeling that you know more about that, but I’m sure she wouldn’t be entrusting her own care to Doctor Hades if she didn’t think he could help her.” She gently took his hand and held it. “I guess we’re both going to have to have some faith.”

Clutching her hand, Hurd began to cry and said, "If anything happens to my baby girl, I'll kill him", he finished, wracked with sobs.
