Mission:
Episode 102 - The Rising Tide of War
Location: USS Falcon
Timeline: MD001 1600 hrs
Sarah had come home and taken a shower, put on lounge pants and a spaghetti strap top, grabbed a glass of wine and dropped onto the couch, waiting for Sam.
She knew Zeke had no choice but to send her on the task of checking the ship but she felt like she needed to clean up. It had been a long process.
Sam felt bad for Sarah, she run ragged by the Captain. But on a small ship like this, could it be helped? Sam walked in, and noticed Sarah had dinner prepared. "You did not have to go through all of this for me?" Sam said, with a humbling smile.
“I didn’t mind,” Sarah said with a smile. “This way we can eat and have more time for us.”
"Your to good to me, I mean that Sarah. I am one lucky man." He said, as he walked over to her, and started to massage her shoulders. To show her, his appreciation.
“That feels so good,” Sarah sighed. “I could let you do that forever.” Sam was really the best, he thought of her a lot.
"I would too, the Captain may not like that." Sam grinned. He knew Zeke was very by the book. He had started to loosen up a little bit.
“He might miss me come next shift,” Sarah laughed softly. “The good news is I don’t have to be in early tomorrow so we can stay up a little later tonight.” She paused. “I think he felt bad.”
"He would not be a good Captain, if he did not feel bad." Sam pointed out, as he continued to massage her shoulders. He could feel her loosing up a bit.
“It was mostly just tedious,” Sarah admitted. “All that climbing and in and out of the turbolifts. But it was worth it and someone had to do it.”
"Sorry it had to be you. I hope this massage is helping." Sam asked with a big grin on his face. His fingers digged into her tense muscles.
“It is,” Sarah sighed. “It is like you know just the right places where my muscles need to stretch and relax.” She needed some downtime with Sam right now.
"We should be arriving home tonight. Are you looking forward to being on our quarters on the station?" Sam asked, as he could smell the aroma of the food, on the table near by. He continued his deep massage.
“Yes,” Sarah murmured. “I love the ship but we have more room there than here.” She took a deep breath. “We should eat, I am sure you are hungry and I am starving.”
"This will be continued." Sam said, as he reached out to help her up. With a smile on his face, he slid out her seat, so she could sit down. Then he walked over to his chair.
“I will hold you to that,” Sarah smiled widely. “You are very good at that.” She took some food and put it on her plate. “I want to see how everyone is doing back home as well.” Her eyes met Sams. “We were very lucky.”
"Yes we were, I am also curious to see how much of the exteriors will be completed, by the time we arrive." Sam said, knowing the station, took a pounding.
“I am sure we will be impressed by what they have accomplished,” Sarah replied. Getting one hundred percent as quickly and effectively would be my priority.”
"I felt bad, that we went on this milk run, I get why we did it. But it still does not make me feel right about it. Rather been patrolling the station, if we had to be couped up on the ship." Sam said, as he started to dig into the plate of food.
“It served a purpose, Sarah said with a nod. “But we all wanted to help back home. I had a lot of time to think about that while crawling through turbolifts.
"What did you contemplate in all that crawling?" Sam asked, as he took another bite.
“Us for one thing,” Sarah’s eyes met his. “That I need to spend more quality time with you, I tend to bring my work home. Life is precious.”
"Were Starfleet Officers, I get it. And you do make time for me. I have no complaints." Sam said, as he hoped that soothed her concerns. She was right, work had them working long hours. But they did make time for each other.
“That makes me feel better,” Sarah admitted. “I don’t want to be one of those workaholics and at the end of the day I wish I did things differently. This has made a lot of us rethink our lives.”
"If we are being honest, there is no other place we would want to be, unless its you getting your own command." Sam suggested as he looked over to Sarah with a big grin.
Sarah grinned. “It will happen one day but for now I am happy under Zeke.” She laughed then. “Unless he sends me on another scavenger hunt tomorrow.”
"They could be fun." Sam suggested, with a teasing laugh.
“Maybe I will recommend some assistance.” Her eyes were filled with laughter. “You know misery loves company.”
"Being with you is not misery." Sam pointed out to her, as the scene starts to fade away.
