Mission: Episode 102 - The Rising Tide of War
Location: Various Places
Timeline: MD1 - 1700 hrs..

Lee had been a little stressed out about somethings that was going on, he had decided to go to the holo deck to try to un stress a little bit, he entered the holo deck wearing only a pair of dark blue work out pants, he stood there doing a few deep breathing exercises before doing some Vulcan martial art katas.

Alex hadn't seen Lee all day. She thought she'd surprise him but he wasn't where he usually is. She asked the computer to locate him. She made her way to the holodeck and entered, "There you are." She looked at him, "You okay?"

Lee stopped once he heard the door open, he took a deep breath then turned to look at his wife "What make you think something is wrong?"

She moved closer to him, "I've been married to you long enough to know your body language. So..." She paused for a brief moment, "what's up?"

Lee looked at her "You know, sometimes I think maybe you have some Betazoid in you as well." He blew out a breath "I have just been in a funk it seems like lately, with everything that has been going on and stuff, makes me wonder what could happen next."

"Uh oh. You do know that is one of those question you should never ask. It's like asking what can go wrong next or when will the other shoe drop." She tried to lighten things up but it wasn't working, "Whatever happens, I'm sure you can handle it like you always do."

Lee shook his head "I know, shouldn't be saying that stuff or could jinx us and things could be worse." He nodded his head "Yes I have learned over the years to roll with the punches." He then pulled out a pad handing it to Alex "This is a message from my Mother, seems that my Father has gotten sick and they are trying to pin down what's wrong with him."

Alex frowned, "I'm so sorry." She hugged him, "Did you want to go be with them? I'm sure Bremer won't have a problem with it."

Lee gave her a hug then looked at her "I have had thoughts about talking to the Admiral and seeing but I don't know. Would you go to Earth with me if I did?"

Alex smiled, "Of course I'd go with you as long as you don't mind having little ones tagging along. I wouldn't let you face this alone. Besides, it would be nice to see your mother and I'm sure that she'd like to see the kids."

"You know that if I want you to be with me then I want our kids to be with me as well." Lee said "I am glad that you wouldn't, just as I wouldn't let you face anything alone either. I am sure my parents would love to see their grandchildren."

"Then I think we should go. I'm sure that Bremer would give us permission to leave. It's not like there is anything we need to be here for. Besides, when was the last time we took a vacation?" Paul was back at the academy so there was nothing holding them there.

"Yeah Star Base 400 does have some capable officers who I am sure can handle things around here for awhile." Lee chuckled "I think last time took any type of vacation was our honeymoon."

"Has it really been that long?" She thought for a moment, "Wow. we should totally go. Let's inform Bremer of our plans."

Lee nodded "Yes it has been that long since we have." He looked down "I probably should go put a shirt and some shoes on first."

She playfully fanned herself, "If you must, you must." She giggled.

He looked at her chuckling "As much as you like seeing me like this, I am sure that Admiral Bremer will not."

"Yeah." She smiled, "I guess it would be a little weird." She watched him get dressed, "Have you eaten yet?"

Lee just had finished putting his shirt on, thinking for a moment "Umm....last night at dinner...."

She frowned for a moment, "Last night? I have really been neglecting you, haven't I. Okay, first food then Bremer." She added, "It'll be nice to have an adult conversation while eating dinner." She had been spending a lot of time with the twins.

Lee shrugged "It's ok Imzadi, we all have been busy with stuff in life." He held out his hand "Where do you want to go?"

"There's a new place that just opened on the promenade. It's an old fashioned style barbecue place." She missed those days that her parents cook food on an open grill.

Lee grabbed her hand heading out of the holo deck "That works for me." He glanced up "Computer end program."

Once they arrived, they sat down. Alex sat next to him rather than across from him. The smell began to make her hungry. She put her hand on his and smiled, "I can't remember the last time it was just us. It's kind of nice, don't you think? She looked for the waiter to take their drink order.

Lee sat there looking around the restaurant for a minute then turned towards her "Yes it has been awhile since just the two of us." He gave her a small smile "Yes it is quite nice."

"Oh yeah." She excitingly spoke, "I talked to Paul. He's really doing great at the Academy. He's planning to look into other classes to broaden his horizons." She paused for a moment, "I'm quite proud of him." The waitress came over, "I'll be your server. What would you like to drink?" Alex responded, "Iced tea, no lemon." The waitress looked at him, "Sir?"

Lee turned to listen to her "That's good to hear that Paul is doing good at the Academy, I am sure he will have a very good Star Fleet career." He turned his head towards the waitress "I will have a Vulcan spice tea."

Alex observed her husband for a moment, "Lee? Are you okay? You don't seem to be all here, like your mind is somewhere else." She was concerned.

Lee blew out a breath "Sorry just thinking of my parents and with all that they are going through." He gave her a small smile.

"I'm sure that it didn't help hearing about what happened here. It was quite an ordeal for all of us. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all." The waitress brought their drinks. Alex told her to give them a few minutes to decide on what to eat.

Lee sipped on his tea then looked over at his wife "Yes all of that was crazy. Remember it isn't your fault about the tiger." He placed his hand on top of hers.

"I know. I just feel bad. He was like one of the family." She sighed, "Poor Deela. Her first husband rescued him when he was a cub. After he died, Earl is what got her through it. And poor Brandon, he grew up with him and Earl was the only thing he had left of his fathers." She wanted to cry but held back the tears. She cleared her throat, "Well. Let's see what to eat." She looked at the menu.

"I know that it is going to be hard for her and the family but they will learn to cope, granted though it will take a long time." Lee kissed his wife's cheek "They know that they can contact the Pike family for any help that we can give them."

The waitress returned and Alex went ahead and ordered the brisket with corn and fries. She waited for Lee to order his food.

Lee looked up "I will take a Hasperat and Ratamba stew, also a glass of Andorian ale."

Alex mind wandered off for a bit, thinking about what happened with Earl and the kids. This was the first time that her kids were in danger...threatened and that pissed her off.

Lee looked over at his wife placing his hand on top of her's "It will take time to heal, I am not happy either that our children were in danger."

"Sorry, I can't seem to wrap my head around what happened. I always knew it was a possibility that it would happen one day but not this soon. I'm just glad that I was with the kids and not out there, leaving them to be protected by someone else." She was trained for that very thing...to protect.

Lee looked at her "I know Imzadi, and we both may not fully wrap our heads around what has happened. It will take a very long time before things seem to feel a little more normal."

"Normal? What's that?" She thought for a second, "You know. The more I sit here, the more us getting away looks good."

Lee sat there for a second or two then nodded "That it does, think after the next mission you, me and the kids should all head for Earth for awhile."

"I agree. It'll be good for us and the kids." She actually got a sense of relief from the idea of getting away with the family.

"I am sure that our families will be glad to see us." Lee said as the food finally arrived.

Alex smiled, "Have I told you lately that I love you?"

Lee chuckled turning towards her "I love you too Imzadi." He kissed her lips.

The conversation continued throughout the meal. After they were finished, Alex wiped her mouth and finished her drink as she waited for him to do the same.

After Lee finished eating he turned towards his wife "What would you like to do now?"

"We should go see what Bremer's schedule is. But until then, we should make sure we can get away." She was trying to get back on a schedule and get back on the duty roster but that would have to wait.

Lee nodded then slowly rose from his chair "Yes let's go see if we can have a talk with the Admiral." He held out his hand.

Alex took his hand as she stood up, "Shall we?"

Lee taking hold of his wife's hand lead them out of the restaurant and to the Admiral's office.
