~Guest Quarters, USS Chamberlain, enroute to Starbase 400 ~

Christina sat happily cuddled up against her husband, they'd had a lovely honeymoon away from the station, so much so they'd barely left their honeymoon accommodation except to eat and do a little sightseeing. Instead they'd spent the rest of their time in the bedroom making up for all the years they'd been apart, plus they were also trying for their own child.

Christina smiled as she looked up at David. "It was nice of Captain Davis to give us this ride home, not that I'd have complained about taking the slower route!" She grinned.

"Nor would i, but if you knew Davis as I did, he tries to balance out practicality with, shall we say discression"

"David, there's something I wanted to tell you." She sat up and picked up a PADD she had resting on the coffee table. "While you were out enjoying the tour of the marine facilities earlier, I stopped by Sickbay." She started to grin like a Cheshire Cat. "The doctor tells me that...I'm pregnant!" She stopped talking to let the news sink in.

His jaw dropped, while at the same time his heart melted and he began to cry, the tears flowing freely. "Pregnant, I'm... my God that's great news!!!!!"

Chrissy smiled as she cuddled him. "I didn't mean to make you cry!!" She gently wiped away his tears. "It seems our trying on honeymoon wasn't necessary, I had already conceived prior to our wedding! The doctor seems to think I'm around two weeks, pretty early but detectable." She smiled warmly. "I wonder what Ariana will think of becoming a half-sister?"

"I'm sure she will be ecstatic!!!", Hurd said trying to compose himself. Looking up into his beloved’s eyes, "You have no idea how happy I am right now."

Christina grinned as she looked into David’s eyes. “I think I do...you have that twinkle in your eyes, it was there the first time we made love all those years ago. Now I see it again.” She kissed him before simply holding onto him as they cuddled. “I’m looking forward to starting our married life together David.”

Melting into her, David said "I can't wait as well". After a long silence, he cleared his throat and said, "Chrissy, I am a front line Combat Marine and a Starship Commander whose duties often take him into extreme danger, so I have to ask, can you and I handle raising a family amidst all this?"

Chrissy looked in her husband's eyes. "David, promise me that you'll always come home safe to me and we'll be just fine." She gently stroked his face. "I let you get away from me once before, I'm not going anywhere anymore. I'm your wife and no matter what I'll be here waiting for you".

Stroking her cheek, he said, "It will take every evil force the SFMC has ever fought a billion times over and I will still be coming back home to you my love", he smiled running his hands through her hair.

"Can you cope with going out there knowing you're leaving us behind?" She looked concerned. "I don't want you distracted because you're worrying about us."

"Baby, I can do my job and worry about you both as well honey, it's called double tasking". "But when I'm here, home, my attention is soley going to be on you two."

Chrissy smiled and nodded. "That's good enough for me my love, besides I'll be there with you until such time as maternity leave excludes me from joining you. I may not be in the field but I'll be aboard ship as your assistant."

"That's true", David said softly. "Your gonna have to make me a promise that you will be careful as well dear".

"I promise!" Chrissy smiled as she looked into David's eyes. "I have our baby to protect as well as myself." She cuddled up. "Right now I'm just going to enjoy spending the last few minutes alone with you until we dock up at home."
