Mission:
Episode 101 - Peace During War
Location: Hurd’s Office
Timeline: MD05 1100 hrs
Freya had received a message asking her to join General Hurd in his office at her earliest convenience. Not wanting to keep him waiting any longer than necessary she headed straight there, she hoped she wouldn’t embarrass herself by ending up feeling ill whilst with him. Her morning sickness was really starting to set in. Once outside his office she pressed the door chime and waited.
"Enter", Hurd said warmly, not in usual gruff voice.
“General” Freya smiled as she walked up to his desk and saluted before standing at attention. “You wanted to see me Sir?”
"Yes, and would you knock that off and sit down", he said smiling and painting to a couch in his office, getting up to join her.
“Yes, Sir” Freya grinned and walked over to the couch, taking a seat she made herself comfortable. “Is there something wrong?”
Sitting down next to her he smiled and said, "No, not at all, belive me if their was I would have had you forced marched here", he said laughing. After a bit, he posed a question. So how would you feel about becoming Kaden's full time adminstrative assistant?"
“Full time Sir?” Freya frowned. “To be honest, I wouldn’t be happy about giving up my Counselling duties Sir. I took on the position of Administrative Assistant, instead of Medic because I wanted to be here with our baby when he or she is born. I know I’m splitting myself in two, but I enjoy being a Counsellor.”
In a gentle voice, Hurd said, " I understand, I do." "But this is where I feel the best fit for you is, and I know you will Excell at it".
Freya took a deep breath, she was feeling a bit off this morning thanks to her morning sickness. “Would you mind if I get a cup of ginger tea Sir?” She offered an apologetic smile. “I’m not feeling 100% this morning. The downside of morning sickness!”
Looking concerned, General Hurd said, " Let me get it. Going over the replicator, he got her green tea, retuned, have it back to her and sat down. "I know you have a lot more on your mind, so out with it".
Taking the tea Freya sipped it then smiled. "Can I make you a counter offer first...how's about I reduce my Counselling duties to just the marines? Be specifically the marine departments own counsellor?"
"Hmm", Hurd softly . After a few moments of silence, Hurd said" I don't see a problem with it, but talk it over with Kaden first, ok?"
"He knows how important my Counselling career is to me Sir. He wouldn't make me choose." Freya offered a smile. "The other thing I was worried about isn't such a worry anymore actually." She paused to sip her tea. "Doctor Hades has confirmed our baby doesn't have Kaden's muscle growth condition!" She grinned albeit tiredly. "The stress leading up to that result however...Doctor Wilson has ordered complete rest, but I'm not going to miss your wedding!"
"I'm glad about both things and I'm really, really happy for you two!!!!"
“As I am for you Sir” Freya smiled warmly. “I hope you don’t mind me saying this Sir, but you’re like a father figure to me. I think my parents would like you.”
His face blushed red as he said, "I appreciate that more than you know, you and Colonel Ross are near and dear to my heart".
"Thank you Sir, I'm honoured." Freya yawned offering an apologetic smile. “Sorry Sir, I guess I should get back home and rest ready for your wedding this afternoon.”
"I should guess so, I have a lot of suprises planned myself", Hurd said sheepishly. "If there is nothing further, you are dismissed".
"Thank you Sir" Freya smiled and nodded. Getting up she headed for the door. "Congratulations again Sir." With that she headed on her way.
