Mission: Episode 100 - A Hatred of Atonement
Location: Hades' Quarters & Science Lab
Timeline: MD03 1045 hours

ON:

Hades jolted awake to the feeling of being shaken like a martini.

“Wake up!”

He heard the voice and then felt a slap over his face. His unfocused eyes sharpened and then focused on Harris. “What in the hell!”

“I couldn’t wake you up. You have a sedative in your system.”

He groaned. “How…”

“I don’t know.”

He looked to the other side of the bed. “Kalani…”

“I guess she’s in the lab. She wasn’t here when I got here.”

Harris stepped back and then a familiar smell wafted through to his nose. He looked at the cup on the table. “What is that?”

“Tea…”

Harris already scanned it. He swore. “That’s Aderian Vola Root! Damn it that’s the most powerful sedative. Who gave you that? How could you not smell that?” Even as he asked he knew that the smell was only present after the fact.

A sinking feeling settled over Hades. “Computer locate Lieutenant Kalani Liora.

“Lieutenant Kalani Liora is not aboard the station.”

“What?!” Hades threw back the covers and leapt from the bed. Still disorientated by the tea he smacked into a wall before stumbling into the living room area, Harris in tow and calling for calm. As he passed by his desk the computer triggered and Kalani’s face popped up.

Hades froze and watched. “Good morning my love! I’m sorry I had to drug you but you were being unreasonable last night. I know you worry and with everything that happened I know things are rough.”

He watched as his wife shook her finger at the screen.

“You cannot order me not to do my job. I was going to Kaleb IV with my team to get those artifacts prepped and squared away in case things go haywire again.”

Harris leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, “You really forbade your wife to do her job and thought she’d just agree?”

Hades was about to say something when the recording of Kalani went on.

“Anyway Good news. I’m not going to Kaleb IV. Our science department needed someone to go to Goroth…”

“What the hell?!”

The recording still continued, “ … Volunteered. The Klingons have made a big discovery and Starfleet…because of the incidents only could risk one science officer. I volunteered! I’ve never been to Goroth but since it’s near the Klingon home world and since Splendora is going there I will hitch a ride with her. Besides it will allow me to get to know my sister in law a bit better.”

Hades slammed his fist on the console. He yelled for communications but they were still doing repairs. His Vulcan logic faded completely. He changed and hurried to the science department where he did indeed confirm that Kalani had been issued orders to go to Goroth for artifact preservation.

Feeling helpless he sank to the floor. What else could go wrong?

As if anticipating the question Harris answered it. “There was an incident while you were asleep, the OR was full. Carolyn was hurt….”

Hades jumped to his feet and hurried out of the science lab still stumbling from the effects of the tea with Harris running after him.
