Ariana had woken to the sound of a chirping computer alerting her to the arrival of an important message, she'd managed to get some rest thankfully as the request wasn't one to be ignored. In fact it was more of an order than a request from Admiral Bremer for a meeting as soon as possible. Making sure she was as presentable as she could be she returned his message asking if he could come to her private room in the recovery area of Sickbay.

Having been expecting this summons to the Admirals meeting, yet kind of annoyed it came in the middle of his work, Hurd started towards Sickbay.

Ariana had just finished brushing her hair as she sat on her biobed when the Sickbay doors opened, surprised to see her father walk in. "Dad" She smiled as he approached her bed. "What brings you here? I was just getting ready to see Admiral Bremer."

"Same as you I suppose", Hurd chuckled, "Same as you".

"The great mystery it is then!" She smiled. "It wouldn't be so bad if I'd had a descent nights sleep. Being a mother is a lot more tiring than you're lead to believe!" She grinned.

"Oh I'm sure", Hurd said. Fiddling with his holstered .45, he added, "You know how much crap I catch for carrying this thing?"

“Plenty I bet so why do you carry it?” She looked at her father curiously.

"Well, this may brutal my child, but the line of work I'm in, and the many, many Combat missions and situations I've been in, I want a weapon I can trust." "I've seen Phasers jammed, fail to function, the enemy be hit by multiple phaser blasts and still keep comming, whereas with this", he pointed to his gun, "It only takes one shot, and they are down."

“I bet!” She grinned trying to move herself so she could sit more comfortably. “They said it’d be a while before I’d be fully fit after the C section and what happened with Andrew Ignatious." She paused to rest a moment. “They weren't kidding! Moving so soon...is a real...pain!"

"You ok kiddo?"

Ariana nodded as she settled slowly back onto the cushion behind her. “Yeah I’m fine Dad, just a little tired and sore.” Ariana smiled “ You have no idea how special it feels to have my father here, mum used to tell me about the man who turned up that she fell head over heels with. She called your relationship magical and I always dreamed about my dad when a I was little. My step father was great, but he never replaced the memory of you.”

A grin crossed his face as he said, " I'm glad he was good to you, and one day I hope to meet the man". "But I am so much more happy I am back in your life now babydoll".

"So am I dad, so am I" Ariana smiled the biggest smile yet. "I'll see if I can arrange for you to come home with me next visit, I'm sure mum would love to see you!"

"So am I kid, I'm sure she'd be glad too see me".

“I think so too!" She smiled warmly turning to look as the doors opened and Admiral Bremer walked inside. "Admiral, please make yourself at home such as it is!" She offered a smile.

Hurd stood ramrod straight, waiting to be addressed.

"Thank you." Mike said. He then looked over at Hurd and smirked, "At ease Mister Hurd."

Mike took a seat, "Thank you for meeting with me so quickly."

"It's fine Sir" Ariana smiled. "I didn't want to keep you waiting for the meeting as I don't know how long it'll be before I get enough strength back to be walking around." She offered her father a smile as she looked in his direction, before looking back at Bremer.

Mike noticed Hurd and Monroe's glance and smile. "Is everything okay?"

"In what way Sir?" Ariana looked at Mike uncertain what it was he was asking, although she did notice the way he caught her glancing at her father. She looked at Hurd again before giving Mike a somewhat guilty look. "There is something you should know Sir."

Mike cocked his head to the side slightly. "Please, go on."

Aeryn looked at her father again before looking back at Mike. "Admiral...General Hurd is my father."

Hurd added, " I know it sounds insane sir, but what she says is the truth, although it may take a little explaining".

Mike took a deep breath, "This better be good." He smirked.

“We had a dna test run just to be sure.” Ariana looked at her father then back at Hurd. “My parents met during a...” She lowered her voice. “Section 31 assignment. I can’t prove anything but I think they allowed my father to fall in love with my mother, then waited to see if she fell pregnant. When she did they purposely chose her for an experimental program, it didn’t work for her but...” She paused before continuing. “I think it did for me.”

"What do you mean?" Mike asked.

Ariana wasn't sure if Mike knew about her father's implant so she didn't mention it. "Well the idea of the program was to create a telepath that could be used in the field that could read through mental blocks and barriers. The program was originally scrapped because it's backed up with an artificial personality that's designed to take over in the field, those personalities caused a lot of unexpected problems, or so my mother told me." She looked at Hurd then back at Mike. "I can read so-called 'unreadable' minds and I've always been strong for a part Betazoid. As for another personality in here..." She tapped her head. "I've never had any unexplained blackouts, or strange occurrences so I take it there isn't one unless it has to be triggered." She shrugged her shoulders. "To be honest I'm just glad to have my dad around."

Offering Hurd a smile Ariana could only wonder whether this would have repercussions from Starfleet or not.
