Episode 98 - A Raid on Peace
Location: Security office Interview room 1
Timeline: MD04 1815 hrs
The request had been sent. A request for Petty officer Ross to be interviewed in regards to this whole situation, he had pulled every file, incident and report that hand Andrew Ignatious' name on it, and some of the things adding up were not good.
So he sent the formal request for an interview they had set a time and he was now waiting for her with Lt(jg) T'Mea a stern Vulcan woman, who he had asked to sit in as sort of an extra listener, and because this involved sexual assault, he wanted someone of the same gender as a support option.
Freya arrived at the security interview room, she hadn’t long finished helping Kaden to get the crib finished for Hope. She paused nervously at the door not really sure why she felt nervous. Walking inside she nodded politely to the female officer who was present before looking at Garibaldi. "You wanted to speak to me Commander?"
"Yes thank you for coming in." He gestured to a chair please have a seat."
Taking a seat Freya did her best to get comfortable. "This is regarding Andrew Ignatious?"
"Precisely. I've received reports on his history and I'm investigating for possible criminal activity. So I will have to ask you a few questions. Formally at any time, you can request to stop questioning, speak to an advocate if you wish, Lt(jg) T'Mea is here as an observer."
Freya nodded. “What about Andy’s history? And why would I need to request to stop the questioning?” She was starting to wonder just what line of questioning this was going to be.”
"Standard rights under article 32 of the Starfleet code of Military Justice. It's available if you wish it." He then continued. "Quite a few things, so let's start with a brief history of your relationship."
“Okay” Freya nodded. “Andy and I go back some, I’ve known him since my parents brought their home on Earth when I was young. We were friends on and off until he became my boyfriend whilst I was at high school. He tended to stray, he always had his eyes and hands on other girls and I guess I was pretty jealous at the time so we split up about six months before I joined the Academy.”
That was no help, jealous high school relationships werent' criminal. "Ok, did you get back together?"
“No” She shook her head. “I met Kaden Ross, my husband at the Academy and we’ve together ever since. I saw Andy a few times on Earth when I visited my parents home and when Kaden and I went home. We stayed friends.”
The stylus scratched across the padd, "And are you still friends?"
“Yes” Freya looked at Garibaldi curiously. His emotions were well locked down, typical of a security officer. He kept his emotions in check and gave nothing away for her to pick up on. “He came to see me shortly after he arrived. We chatted for a while.”
Peter made more notes, reviewing it, "Go on."
“There isn’t much to tell, we just talked about how long it had been and about Andy’s transfer here. He did say he’d been demoted for some behaviour towards his senior officer, he has orders to attend counselling sessions which given his admitted attitude to women I would expect to be with a male counsellor.”
More notes, right now, being a misogynist was not a crime, he had offenses that showed he had a real problem with women. But so far he was not someone he'd want to hang out with, but it wasn't criminal, yet.
"Thank you for coming in Petty Officer, if we need to we may ask you for another interview."
Freya nodded. “Of course” She looked at Garibaldi curiously. “I may not be permitted the answer to my question but has Andy done something wrong?”
"No, this is just a routine inquiry." Peter said simply, "He's not accused of anything. "
“He’s not accused of anything but something must have triggered the need for the enquiry?” She studied Garibaldi carefully hoping his emotions would give something away.
One good thing about slavery, it taught you to hide your emotions very well, because the last thing you needed was your slavemaster pacing how you really felt about them so he looked at her, "That information is confidential Petty Officer. "
"Of course" Freya nodded. "In that case if there’s nothing else you need?” She watched as Garibaldi shook his head before standing. She nodded politely before heading out of the office.
