Episode 96 - A Visitor From the Past
Location: Pike's Quarters
Timeline: 1600 hrs
It had been a while since Deela had gotten together with Alex. Nothing much had been happening since the ion storm. Deela needed to ask Alex about something. She also had heard that Paul had returned from Starfleet Academy, just staying long enough to visit. "Kids, we need to get going."
Brandon and Raivyn grabbed some stuff and walked out the door with Deela right behind them. They arrived at Alex's quarters and rang the chime. Paul answered the door. Deela was taken aback by how different he looked, all buff and a bit heavier but in a healthy way. "Paul, how good to see you. Have you grown taller?"
Paul smiled, "Good to see you too...ma'am." He invited them in, "My mom is still getting the twins ready. She shouldn't be too much longer. They are quite a handful. I don't know how she does it."
Deela smiled back, "Yes they are. But your mom is very good at multi-tasking." Deela sat down, "So Paul, how are things going at the Academy? You doing okay?"
Paul sat down across from her, "At first, it was difficult being away from SB400 but now that I've made a few friends there, it's gotten easier. We all have a lot of things in common and we hang out as much as possible when we aren't in class. I'm having lots of fun there now."
Deela nodded, "So, what is your girlfriend's name? Is she pretty? Come on, do tell."
Paul sighed, "How did you know? I mean, are you spying on me or what?"
Deela laughed, "I have my ways. So?"
Paul confessed, "Okay, you got me." He smiled again as he began to talk about her, "Well, she's a redhead, about your height and she s really pretty. She's a few months older than me but not by much. You'd like her if you met her." He looked back at the twins room then returned his attention towards Deela, "Please don't say anything yet to my parents. I haven't told them. I was planning to tell them at dinner when they are both together."
"Okay, I will not say anything." Deela promised, "I am glad to know that you have made friends."
He smiled. Alex walked out, "Hi Deela. You and Paul having a nice reunion?"
Deela looked at Paul and winked, "Yes we are."
Paul smiled, "I'm going to read the twins a story like I promised. Deela, it was nice to see you again."
Deela smiled back, "You too. she watched him disappear into the bedroom. she looked at Alex, "You look like the twins are givng you a bit of a challenge."
"They are all over the place. I don't think that I've had any rest since they've been born." alex chuckled, "You could always take care of them for a day and give me a break."
Deela chuckled, 'I could." They both laughed.
Alex went over to the replicator, "Iced tea?"
"Tea sounds good." Deela sat down in the couch, "So, I have a question for you."
Alex handed her the glass of tea and sat down next to her, "Shoot."
Deela took sip of her drink, "Jack asked me to marry him and I said yes."
Alex huggged her, "That is great news. When?"
Deela shrugged, "We haven't set a date. But I was wondering if you would like to be my bridesmaid."
Alex smiled brightly, "Yes I would love to. I'm guessing that Jewel is going to be your Maid of Honor?"
Deela would've been worried that she might have hurt her feeling but she didn't sense anything like that from her, "I asked her earlier and she agreed. If I could have two Maid of Honors I would."
"Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I'm just exciited to be a part of your great day." Alex was happy for them.
"Good. I have not gotten anything planned yet. Maybe we can all get together and brain storm. This is my third marriage and I would like to do something different. I just do not know what."
Alex took another sip of her tea, "I'm sure that we can think of something. Just let me know when and I will clear my calendar. Paul is going to be here for a few weeks and has offered to watch them for me if I need to do something."
"Then it is all settled. She is going through a few things so I am not sure when we will get together.' Deela didn't want to go into detail.
"No problem." Alex didn't pry.
"Sorry to hear that." Alex hated to hear about anyone's relationship going sour.
The chime rang. Alex went and answered the door. When it opened, two kids were standing at the door, "Is mommy here?" The little girl smiled.
Alex moved over a littles so she could see her mother, "Come on in." Brandon followed, "Hi."
Alex acknowledged him, "Hi Brandon."
Raivyn ran to her mother and gave her a hug. Brandon moved next to his sister.
Deela looked at the two, "What are you doing here?"
Brandon spoke up at the same time as Raivyn did, "Hold on, one at a time."
Raivyn sighed, "Brandon isn't playing nice. He won't stop turning up the music while I'm trying to watch something."
Brandon chimed in immediately, "I was listening to music first. She's mad because I won't play what she wants."
Deela shook her head, "We will talk about this later."
Paul walked out with the twins following him, "I thought I heard a familiar voice."
Brandon practically chared at Paul. "Paul!!!" He tackled paul, "You're here!!!"
Paul chuckled, "I am and what's even better, I'll be here for two weeks."
Brandon looked over at his mom, "Is it okay if we have lunch with Paul tomorrow?"
Deela nodded, "Sure."
Brandon was so happy. He talked Paul's ear off while Raivyn played with the twins.
Meanwhile, Deela and Alex talked about different things, just catching up with each other's lives.
