Mission: Episode 96 - A Visitor From the Past
Location: Deela's Office

Jewel had just finished having lunch with Commander Soloman, she was happy for him and Deela. It was finally good to see her dearest friend happy. Which was more then she could say for herself, she made the decision to get a divorce. David has changed way too much for them to work it out. More like he refuses to work things out. She had told David and that's what the argument was about earlier but he reluctantly signed the papers. She just needed one more person to sign and then submit it.

She walked up to Operations and walked to Deela's office and rang the door chime, she waited for a response.

Deela was sitting back into her chair drinking tea and enjoying a break. She called out, 'enter." When the door opened, Deela didn't have to look at Jewel's face, she could sense what she was feeling. "Hi Jewel, have a seat. Something to drink?"

"I can never hide anything from you, my dear friend," she said with a sigh. "I am good for the moment," Jewel replied as she sat down.

"For the moment?" It wasn't a question that was requiring an answer. "So, what is troubling you and do not say there is not anything bothering you. As you said, you cannot keep anything away from me."

"I mean I am good on the drink..." Jewel said as she looked at her. "I need you to sign this and get it submitted," Jewel said as she handed Deela the padd containing the divorce papers in it. "I can't do it anymore, he's refusing to change and refuses to seek counseling and I have tried on my part but he refuses to go," Jewel said as she got up and walked to the window and looked out. "It's to the point where my children are scared of him," Jewel replied as tears ran down her face.

Deela stood up after glancing at the padd. She walked over to Jewel and put her hand on her shoulder, "I am sorry that things didn't work out for you. There is no judgment here. You do what you need to do." She looked out as well, "I am not surprised after the reaction he had when I suggested that he go seek counseling."

"He took it out on me after he had that talk, and things continued to go downhill from there. I still love him but I just can't do this anymore." She said as she looked at Deela tears still running down her face. "I deserve better than that, it all started changing after his accident back at our honeymoon slowly and then got progressively worse over the last year," Jewel said looking at her friend.

Deela handed her a tissue, "You do deserve better." She walked over to the padd and signed it. She walked back to her friend who was clearly upset, "I will immediately make arrangements for his new quarters so that we do not uproot the kids from where they are used to sleeping. If you need anything else from me, just let me know. If you would feel better, I could have someone accompany you when you give him the bad news. In fact, if you want me to, I can." She didn't know how to make this better for her emotional wise.

"Well he's already packed and ready to leave, told him he better be by the time I returned." Jewel replied, "But could use the company to help him leave." Jewel added as she smiled at her friend, "Oh by the way when were you going to tell me about your little engagement to Commander Soloman?" She asked with a slight smile on her face.

"I was going to talk to about it but I was not sure when the right time was, knowing that you and David were having problems. What is the saying, rubbing salt into a wound?" She felt bad for her and didn't want to make it worse.

"Deela, thanks but just because were having issues doesn't mean that I can't be happy for my best friend." Jewel said with a smile.

She was a little relieved but still sad for her, "Then would it be inappropriate to ask you something about the wedding?"

"No it wouldn't," She said with a reassuring smile and a hug. "You can ask me anything Deela," Jewel added.

"It is customary for your best friend to stand with you. So, would you be my maid of honor?" Deela stood there with a smile on her face.

"I would be honored," Jewel replied with a grin and hugged Deela.

"That is great news. I do not know when the wedding will take place but when we decide on a date, I will let you know."

"Sounds good, what will the dresses look like?" Jewel asked with a smile.

Deela frowned, "I have not gotten that far. The only thing I know is that I do not want anything too fancy and definitely no white. That is all I have got."

She smiled, "Well we got our work cut out for us don't we." She chuckled, "I don't mind what I wear as long as it's not nude." She winked as she knew that if she would take the Betazoid custom which she had a feeling she wouldn't but she needed the good laugh.

Deela chuckled a bit, "Solomon and I talked about it but we just could not see people we work with naked. I am Vulcan and human as well so technically, I do not have to follow either tradition. So we chose what everyone is comfortable with."

She nodded, "Well we will get together later and talk about the wedding plans." She said with a sigh, "I better make sure that David gets to his new quarters a few decks away." She stated looking at Deela.

Deela's facial expression changed to one of concern, "I have nothing going on right now so if you would like me to accompany you, I can."

She nodded, "bring some security guards just to make sure." She said as his moods lately were very unpredictable and she wasn't sure what he would do.

Deela ordered security to meet them at Hurd's quarters, "Done. Lead the way."

She nodded and they both walked out of her office and made there way down to her quarters, after a few moments they arrived and she has seen security there. Luckily her children were with the nanny at her quarters so they wouldn't have to witness this. They walked in, "David, they are here to take you to your new quarters. The divorce is finalized," Jewel stated as she could see David getting pissed. "I am done playing your games, this is the consequences you choose." She added

"Also," she started as she handed him the padd. "In order to spend time alone with your two children, you will have to seek counseling to get your problems under control. If you refuse all visitations will be supervised and no overnight stays." Jewel replied as he took the padd and grabbed his stuff and walked out of the room followed by security to make sure he got to his new quarters.

"Well, that was easier than I thought it would be." She looked at Jewel, "Are you okay?"

"Well he thinks twice about acting out with you and security here," she said. "I actually feel better that the weight was lifted off my shoulders." She said looking at Deela, "Like I can finally move on with my life," she said looking at Deela.

Deela nodded, "Good. If he gives you any problems, just let me know. I will update Major General Jackson on what is going on."

"Would you mind if I speak with Jackson?" She asked as she looked at her.

"Of course." Deela understood, "If you need anything, feel free to ask."

"Yes, there is actually could you talk to Mike about it? I know I should but I think you are better to tell him since you see how he's been." Jewel asked with a smile.

"I can definitely do that." Deela gave Jewel a hug, "Do not worry about a thing. It will all work out."

She hugs back, "I know they will and effective immediately my last name will go back to Dartt." Jewel replied. "But I am glad to be moving on," Jewel replied. "Well, we will get together tomorrow maybe to talk about your wedding," Jewel replied as she looked around. "I got some things to sort out," Jewel replied.

She smiled, "Okay. Tomorrow it is. I will give it some thought and hopefully I will come up with a color theme or something."

She smiled, "Sounds good will see you tomorrow, and thanks for always being there for me when I need you." Jewel replied as she gave Deela another hug.

"No problem. I will see you then." Deela moved towards the door.

After Deela left she sat down on her couch and let out a sigh of relief. She needed to take care of some things but she needed to take a breather to take it all in.
