Mission: Episode 96 - A Visitor From the Past
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD1, 1000 hrs

Ariana was resting as she'd been instructed to when a familiar presence made her look up from the book she was reading, she smiled warmly as Jack walked across to her. "Jack it's good to see you!"

Jack smiled as he made his way over to her biobed. "Hey you, dont get up... Thats an order," he said in a mocking tone designed to make her smile. "I hope your doing well, I spoke with a nurse before popping by." He explained.

He stepped close and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry," he whispered to her before stepping back.

"Thank you" her smile faded a little "the Doctors tell me that my remaining baby is doing well so at least I have him or her to look forward to" she sighed, "I just wish I hadn't lost another piece of Jonathon."

Jack understood her feelings after he had missed the chance to be at his friends funeral. Mission time on the 400 had kept him away from being able to see off his former Valkyrie crew mate. "I'm sorry I wasnt there...If I could have been there to see Jonny off, you know I would have."

"I completely understand that you couldn't get away for Jonathan's funeral, such is the Starfleet life" she motioned for him to sit down "so how's life aboard the station treating you?"

Jack sighed a little as he pulled forward a chair. "Busy! Being the Chief Engineer of this place keeps you in check a lot!" He explained. "Although life is about to get a little busier now that I'm engaged..."

"Engaged? seriously!" Ariana grinned, "so who is she? I want to hear all about her."

Jack smiled. "I'll reveall all when your recovered, I dont want to overstress you just yet but I promise you'll get to meet her," he explained.

"I certainly hope so!" she smiled "Actually I've found someone here that I've fallen head over heels for that I'd like you to meet" she shrugged her shoulders, "Jonathon always told me that he didn't want me to be alone and not to feel guilty for finding someone else..." she paused for a moment, "anyway... funnily enough the guy I've met is a marine just like Jonathon was just a different department."

Jack was happy that she'd met someone, especially onboard. "Thats great news, hey Jonny wouldn't have wanted you to be alone so its good that you've met someone... Maybe you could introduce me sometime?" He offered.

"I would love to do that Jack" she nodded, "how's about when I get out of here we all get together for dinner?"

Jack nodded in agreement with her idea. "I love the sound of that, lets get something together once you have recovered and your back to full health," he agreed.

"Great!" she smiled, "In the meantime I want to hear all about what you've been doing."

"That could also be a story for another day," he chuckled. "For a long while after my time on the Valkyrie, Starfleet has the words Classified on my file!" he laughed.

"I was on assignment at Starfleet Operations before the chance to serve here became an option. I signed up originally as the Asst Chief Operations Officer until the chance to be a Senior Officer came up," he explained. "After I took that, I was able to prove that my previous reduction in rank was down to me being framed and here I am now...."

He smiled. "Well thats the short version anyway... How about you?" he asked.

"Oh I had the usual assignments for a Counsellor" she grinned, "mostly aboard starships which is what Jonathon & I always loved. This is my first assignment aboard a station but it's proving to be an interesting place, what I've seen of it so far."

Jack smiled. "Oh its definitely interesting!" He laughed. "Hell, there are days it seemed quieter back on the Wildcat and that was definitely not a quiet ship...trust me, you'll find plenty to do here."

Jack realised that he had other duties to complete on his tour, but he wanted to see Aria again. Knowing he had a friend on board from before he joined the station was a good thing and something he would enjoy.

"Right, I need to get back to work, but when your recovered we'll catchup on that dinner date," he offered.

"That would be lovely" Ariana smiled warmly, "it's been good seeing you Jack, thank you for coming to see me."

Jack smiled before he headed out of Sickbay and made his way back towards Main Engineering before continuing with his duties and his inspections.
