2,191 words; about a 11 minute read

Mission: Episode 95 - Helping Old Friends
Location: Sickbay & Quarters
Timeline: MD8 2000 hrs

Ariana had felt somewhat embarrassed at being carried along the corridor by Marcus but somewhere between his quarters and arriving at sickbay she'd started to feel more than a little worse for wear, she was lying drowsily against his chest as he reached the turbolift.

As they moved through the corridors of the ship, he noticed she was starting to move less, as he looked down he saw that she was starting to turn white in the shades of blue. He actually started to run.

Arriving at sickbay Ariana was on the edge of unconsciousness, she was aware of still bring in Marcus' arms but barely aware of where they were.

"Doc!" he called out in panic. "Please! She is turning white!"

“Marcus....” Ariana managed to look up at him before she lost consciousness altogether.

Standing across sickbay Medic Louis was busy sorting through medical supplies as she'd been instructed by Lieutenant Woodhouse, hearing Mattson's voice call for help Louis rushed over to where Marcus was standing holding onto a very pale looking Ariana. "Put her down on the biobed please"

The ensign placed with great care before stepping back.

Grabbing the nearest medical tricorder Louis ran a scan before quickly darting to the nearest tray and loading up a hypo, quickly returning to Ariana and pressing it to her neck. She looked up at Marcus "You're lucky you got her here when you did" she watched as Ariana's readings started to recover and her colour slowly started to return. It wasn't long before Ariana opened her eyes and looked up at Marcus, holding out her hand for him to hold.

"Nice to have you back Lieutenant" Louis smiled, "You suffered a blood clot, you're lucky Cadet Mattson got you here when he did. The clot is now dissolved but your blood pressure is higher than it should be so I'd like to keep an eye on you for a little while" she smiled warmly, "I'll give you something to bring your blood pressure down but I'd suggest regular monitoring from now on" she pressed the hypospray to Ariana's neck before leaving the two alone.

Ariana looked at Marcus apologetically "I'm sorry I didn't mean to go scaring you like that."

Marcus sighed in relief. "Did you do it on purpose?"

“On purpose?” She looked at Marcus her smile faded away, “I wish I could have” she lay her head back on the biobed, “do you seriously think I’d do that to you?”

"Then my little sickling. Why on earth would I expect you to apologize for something than you have no control over hmm?" he was leaning down and looking at her.

Ariana couldn’t help but grin, “looks like you’ll be stuck with the duty of babysitting me until we get back” she looked at Louis then back at Marcus “do you think you can put up with that?”

"I don't know. I probably won't get anything out of that..." he stood up and rubbed his rough chin. He needed a shave.

Ariana smiled “oh I’m not so sure about that...” she gave him a wry smile, “those massages of yours are very relaxing.”

"But that is your reward, not mine..." he teased.

Just then Louis came towards them, “Looks like you’re feeling better” she smiled, “your blood pressure is coming down nicely and your readings are looking good so I’m happy to let you go provided you promise to rest.”

Ariana looked at Marcus, “I was just talking about that to Marcus” she grinned, “I promise I’ll rest I’ll stay in bed.”

“Bed rest isn’t necessary but if that’s what you feel like doing” Louis smiled, “just remember to get regular exercise as well.”

Ariana looked at Marcus and smiled as she gently slid down off the biobed and gently took his arm. “Walk me back to our Quarters?”

He said nothing, instead he pulled her back in to his arms as he carried her out the door.

"You don't have to carry me I can walk" she grinned

"Perhaps, but I can carry you as well."

Alicia smiled as she gave in to being carried and rested her head against his chest. "Don't worry I'm not going to pass out on you this time!" she grinned trying not to feel embarrassed as they passed other crew in the corridor. She was glad when they arrived back at their quarters.

He placed her on the floor. "There, now we are back." He was worried about her, even if he refused to let it show. He cared deeply for her.

"Thank you for helping me Marcus, it must have been so awkward for you being assigned me as your room mate but you've been nothing but a true gentleman & you've looked after me so much." she smiled as she sat down on her bunk, "to be honest I never thought I'd find someone who made me smile, laugh and feel as cared for as you do so soon after...." she let the sentence finish itself, "I've come to realise that you mean a great deal to me."

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Yes, it was a tad... Odd that I was paired in this room with you. I was very uncomfortable with my need to respect your privacy. But I think we have come up with a nice system so that I can uphold your honor and respect." he smiled weakly at her.

"That we have" she smiled "I know it's not exactly the most brilliant option us sharing a silky bunk but it saves me waking up scaring you to death!" she grinned.

"Well, you are pregnant and stress can cause complications right?"

Ariana nodded "right but as long as I don't get overly stressed from now on I'll be fine"she smiled warmly. "In the meantime I am pretty tired so I think a lie down might be a good idea."

"Sounds like a very good plan. I'll let you relax, maybe there is a book you want to read?"

"I think I'll just have a sleep for now, I didn't realise bring pregnant was so tiring and I'm barely 3 months yet!" she shrugged her shoulders "between that and being eternally hungry I'll be the size of a starship!"

"Well you are creating a life in there, that takes a lot of energy. Besides, if you feel you are getting large as a starship. All I can say there is more for me to rub."

Ariana gave Marcus a strange look before bursting into fits of laughter, "that could have been so mistaken for something other than you meant!" she grinned.

He looked so confused. "What?"

"Forget I said it" she turned and motioned to the zip on the back of the clothing she was wearing, "would you mind helping with my zip? I'd like to change into something more comfortable before I lie down."

"Of course." he walked up behind her and slowly pulled down her zipper. He didn't know why but there was something very erotic about this. As he pulled down, more and more of her back was exposed. He starred at each line that defined the muscles of her back, even if they wheren't sharp they were definitely there.

"Thank you" Ariana smiled as she held onto her outfit to stop it falling off In front of him, "if you don't mind turning around?"

He turned slightly scarlet and turned around so fast he nearly tripped over his feet. "y-yes of course."

Sliding out of her clothing she reached for a dressing gown instead simply tying the front closed so she wouldn't have to keep changing she didn't bother with anything else.

He said nothing as he heard her move about. But he noticed a reflection on the computer screen on the wall. The light was behind her so he didn't see any details, but he saw every curve she had from the outline she was showing in the reflection. He was so mesmerized he didn't notice that he was starring.

“If you want to see more...” Alicia grinned as she put her hand gently on his shoulder, “all you had to do was ask” she slid her nightdress, that she’d just put on, playfully off both shoulders and let it slide down just a little before catching it to stop it dropping off altogether.

"Wait what?" he got rigid. He didn't know how she knew he was seeing her silhouette.

Ariana grinned, "I was hazarding a guess but I don't mind" she slid the nightdress back on her shoulders and moved to her bunk, "would you mind cuddling up for a little while, I find I sleep better cuddled up to you."

"Wearing your nightdress?" he got very worried about this. How would he be able to keep himself from thinking about naughty things?

She paused she didn't want to push him into anything "It's okay I'll manage, maybe you could give me a back massage instead I found it really relaxing last time. I can pull the sheet up to cover the rest of me."

He felt bad for not getting her what she wanted, so he sighed as he decided to give her what she wanted. "Alright, but I must warn you. As a man I might not be able to..." he paused as he tried to figure out how to say what he wanted to. "show proper respect."

"Respect I don't care about, you I do" she sighed, "if it makes you feel uncomfortable then I don't mind if you don't want to."

He slowly turned to face her, looking at her like she was mad. "Don't care? Ma'am you have any idea how most men look at women? They are run by hormones and chemicals that makes them hard wired to seek out as many sexual partners as possible. Fighting each other, killing each other if they must. Acting like women like yourself is nothing more than a prize. Women are not objects, they are people who should be respected and treated right."

"I'm nobody's prize Marcus I appreciate how much you care and the respect you show me, I just didn't want you to feel obliged to do what I ask you to do. You can feel free to say no."

"It's not that I don't want to. Just that I am like every other man, I don't want to go to a place where I disrespect and offend you. The thought of that makes me feel ill."

She gently leant forward and kissed him on the cheek "There is nothing you could do to disrespect or offend me okay" she smiled warmly.

His face became scarlet as he felt his cheeks grow hot. "No? Starring, Fantasizing, grabbing, miss use of your underwear. The list is endless."

Ariana couldn't help but laugh "Where you are concerned I don't see any harm in that" she grinned playfully, "so are you wanting to cuddle up or shall I let you have some sleep?"

"We just met ma'am. I can give you want you want."

Ariana smiled and climbed onto her bunk making room for Marcus to slide onto it with her. "Thank you for this."

"Should I put something other than my uniform on?"

"That's up to you" she smiled, "you can escape once I'm asleep so the choice is yours" she grinned.

He figured the uniform would be the safest bet. So he walked up to her bunk and waited for her to make room for him. Even if she was all the way in the back, she still needed to... open up her arms so that she could be like a bun to him as a hotdog.

Ariana waited for Marcus to settle as best as he could before lying cuddled up with him she lay her head against his chest somehow it made her feel warm and safe like it had done when Jonathon was alive.

The cadet took a long sigh as he placed his free arm under his head. There was nothing really to focus on other than the boring underside of the bunk that was above them.

Ariana couldn't help but notice he seemed bored lying there with her, "why don't you reach inside my book..." She motioned to the book on the table, "there's an old picture of me that Jonathon took you might find it more appealing. It was about a year ago while we were on Risa hence the swimsuit"

"Oh no. I would never do that. Those pictures are associated with your lost love. I wouldn't soil it with me looking at them." he said truthfully

"Why don't you go back to your bunk" she smiled as she lifted her head even though deep down she was hoping he wouldn't go "I feel more of a hindrance to you stopping you getting a good night's sleep."

"No, I think I can stand laying here like this. You sleep for three after all."

Ariana smiled and gently lay her head back down she was soon sleeping peacefully.
