Paul climbed out of his fighter, and caught up to Cadet Mattson. "Not bad, kid." He said with a grin on his face. They were both heading to the locker room to change out of their flight suits.
The landing was smooth and Marcus had climbed out of the fighter before removing his flight helmet. "Thank you sir." he said as he followed the Commander. "May I ask a personal question sir?"
"By all means." Said Paul, as he continued to walk into the locker room. He went over to his locker, and opened it. He started to place his helmet on the top shelf.
"Yes sir." he said as he did the same at his locker, a little distance away. "How long have you been flying sir?" he asked.
"8-12 years, Depending on how you look at it. 4 in the academy, 8 on the station." He said, as he looked a picture of a young lady, hanging on the door frame. He smiled for a moment. Then looked over to Marcus.
Marcus smiled at that. A fighter pilot living that long must be skilled. "Maybe you could give me a few pointers sometime sir. A Combat veteran like yourself must have plenty of experience on unorthodox maneuvers."
"I've been lucky, for the most part. Sure I learned a few skills, but you will learn those skills as well. Just need to keep up on the training, and of course the flight time. your natural instincts today, did well." Said Paul.
"Question for you, why did you decide to go after the solo fighter, heading towards the Falcon?" Asked Paul. It was the right call for the circumstance. He was just curious, why he chose that course of action.
"The primary function of the fighters of a ship this size is the protection of the ship it self. The Falcon should not dedicate resources dealing with a fighter when a large target is on the board. So logically, we are the ones who keep the fighters at bay." Marcus answered truthfully.
"You made the right call, most pilots would try to prevent the enemy from reaching out a signal, but that decision is the captain's not the pilots. Our primary responsibility is to the ship. Way to go, Shadow Fox." Said Paul, as they both changed over.
"Thank you sir." Marcus said calmly, but he was smiling slightly. "Will there be a debrief sir?"
"Yes there will be, follow me." Said Paul as both men got ready to debrief.
