Mission 76 - Home comings
Location: USS Yorktown, transporter room 2
Timeline: present
"Here it is." Chief O'Reily pulled out a piece of broken conduit, holding it up to show Ensign Vega. "It won't take long to replace the whole relay system. I'm not sure how it got smashed, but splicing on a new piece of conduit after we repair the power transfer line should be a breeze. I'm kind of surprised the power relay lasted as long as it did. Last time I saw a transfer line that warped it blew a power relay and surged enough power threw the transporter we had to work on it for a whole week."
Ensign Vega laughed. "Yeah. You think it might have been battle damage, Chief?"
O'Reily scooted himself from under the transporter pad. He picked himself up, and shrugged. "I really don't know enough about the Yorktown to know. Could have been. Hell, I'm not sure when the last time the Yorktown received a level four diagnostic let alone saw any action. This might have even been a little warped coming straight out of the yard. You never know. I suppose the only thing we can do is shut down transporter room two and get this sucker back on track." He patted the ensign on the shoulder. "Good catch by the way. Had that thing blown while we were trying to transport anyone out..."
Vega shook head, a grimacing look on his face. "Yeah. I don't even want to think about it."
Hugh chuckled. "Neither do I, sir. Neither do I."
A voice on the ships comm broke their conversation. "Chief O'Reily, you have a message coming in from the Admiral."
"All right. Please transfer it to transporter room two." Hugh walked over to the terminal, and activated the transferred communique. After reading it for a moment, he turned to Ensign Vega. "I'm afraid I can't help you on this project, sir. I'm being summoned by the Admiral."
"That's no problem, Chief. I'll assemble a team to right away to get this repaired. Thank you for your assistance." Vega said.
Hugh gave the ensign a thumbs up. "My pleasure." He walked toward the doors out of transporter room two. "I think I'm going to use the other transporter. God help me."
He could hear Vega laugh as he walked out of transporter room two.
