"Admiral, we are approaching Starbase 400. Dropping out of warp."

"Very good."

"Aye. "

T'Lar walked out of her ready room and sat in her chair. "Vice Admiral T'Lar to Starbase 400, we are requesting permission to dock."

"USS Essex, this is Flight control. Permission granted. Begin docking procedures."

T'Lar gave a nod to Lt. Flanagan, "Beginning docking procedures."

Going to a 1/4 impulse, the ship continued to decrease speed. The Essex began to slow down until they were at a standard orbiting speed. Some time passed, they were now at thruster speed.

Finally, the ship had completed docking at Port 18. "Engage mooring beams." All procedures were completed. "Permission to come aboard." T'Lar was excited to finally be there.

"Permission granted. Welcome aboard."

Deela stood up, "Colonel Jones, please limit the amount of crewmembers leaving the ship. I'm going to escort our guest to his quarters on the base. You have the bridge."

"Thank you. Tell Paul that ut was a pleasure having him on this ship."

"Will do." She left the bridge and went to meet Paul who should be packing at this time.She rang the chime then entered.

"Well, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I am. Are you sure it's okay that I want to stay in my quarters on the base?"

Deela smiled, "Yes, it's fine. Besides, I know that Earl will keep you safe."

"Well thanks."

"He really took a liking to you. So until your mother gets back, you can use Earl to keep you company. Just don't let him roam around the base. I wouldn't want to scare anyone. Oh, I almost forgot, Colonel Jones says it was a pleasure having you with us."

"Gotcha.' Paul grabbed his bags. As they exited his temporary quarters, Brandon met them in the corridor, "Mommy, can I come with you? I've never seen a starbase before."

"Sure. Come on." Earl was waiting with her husband when they got to the airlock. He handed the leash to her but she could tell that Earl was not happy. He wasn't used to being leashed but Deela wanted to make sure that he didn't frighten anyone.

As they walked into the main area, they were greeted by a security guard, "Vice Admiral T'Lar, Captain Harrison told me that you'd all be arriving. Welcome aboard Starbase 400." She looked down at the tiger, "This must be Earl and this nice tall kid must be Paul. And this young boy has to be...Brandon. Her quarters are this way. If you follow me, I'll take you there."

They followed her. Everyone either stared at Earl or moved quickly out of his way. Deela laughed to herself as she could sense the fear in some. Paul was too busy looking around.

Once there, they were let in. "If you need anything, just let me know. Oh, I'm Lt. Bernard. It was great meeting you. " She left.

Paul found a note on the table written on a sheet of paper. He read it and smiled. Deela looked at him, "Anything important?"

"No, it's just a letter telling me where to find things and how to work a few things here. I'll be fine. It's not like I have never been by myself."

"I know. Then I'm going to take leave of you. I'll check in on you in the morning. Earl, you keep an eye on him, okay?"

Earl snorted as he laid down in the corner of the room. Brandon gave Earl a hug. Deela and Brandon then left.
