Two hours after meeting with Admiral Ross...

ON:

It had been two hours after his meeting with Admiral Ross. Now, it was time to bring the rest of the Senior Staff present up to speed on the situation brewing back out near SB400. It was standing room only in the Observation Lounge. Mike stood so he could address everyone. Janice was seated at the head of the table. Captains K`Temoc, Andrews, Greenwood, Mark, and Harrison, and Colonel Highsmith were seated. Everyone else was standing...

Mike looked around the room, "Thank you all for coming. I apologize for having to take time away from everyone's R&R, however there is a situation brewing within The Triangle and along the Romulan border."

Mike turned and activated the wall display behind him. The screen popped to life with a grid layout of the Federation/Romulan border and the Triangle area.

"The Romulans are demanding the re-establishment of the Neutral Zone to its previous position. In so doing, seven Federation colonies and four Romulan colonies that were set up when the zone was dismantled after the Dominion War." Mike continued.

"Starfleet want us to help evacuate the colonies?" Greenwood asked.

"We're to standby to assist, however there a more pressing matter at hand." Mike replied. "Several of the Colonies' leader and citizens have protested the forced withdrawal, even to the point of taking up arms."

"Another Maquis type insurrection?" Mark asked.

As Mike nodded, K`Temoc replied, "Can't really say I blame them, being forced to move from their homes."

"They knew there were dangers in colonizing worlds close to Romulan space, not to mention if they stay, the Romulans will probably attack them." Andrews replied.

"I understand that," K`Temoc replied, "but that doesn't make this right."

"Admiral, have the Romulans promised to evacuate their colonies in the Zone as well?" t'khellian asked.

"Starfleet Command has been told by the Romulans that they are pulling their people out of the zone too." Mike replied.

He paused a moment...

"There's more." He looked back at the wall display and tapped a button, the pictures of three men appeared on the screen. "Some of you remember this man, goes by the name of Clark. We don't have a full bio on him, but he is believed to be ex-Starfleet. Clark lead a Pirate cell within the Triangle before being arrested a few years ago. Several days ago, he was broken out of custody by these men, also ex-Starfleet. Former Marine 1st Lieutenant Hawking and former Commander Joh Westmoreland. Both, former members of the SB400 and USS Pegasus crews respectively."

Bremer again paused to let the info sink in as he looked around the room before continuing.

"Starfleet believes the three have returned to the Triangle and rejoined Clark's old group. Now, they are antagonizing the Neutral Zone situation. Providing weapons, small ships, tactical and technical advice, maybe even muscle. Starfleet believes they are trying to get the Colonies to rise up against the Federation in hopes of not being removed from their worlds."

Mike looked around, he could tell some were uneasy at the thought of possibly going up against Federation Citizens who were trying to protect their homes. Others seemed concerned that the Romulans might try making a move against the Federation colonies before Starfleet could try to negotiate some kind of peaceful resolution to the crisis.

"What are your orders Admiral?" Janice finally asked.

Mike then looked at each person as he addressed them, "Captains Mark, Greenwood, and Harrison, find out everything you can on Clark, Hawking, and Westmoreland. What they did after leaving Starfleet, etc. Starfleet Security sent over the DNA sample they pulled from Clark, but it doesn't match anyone that is in or was in Starfleet, ever. We've got to know who he is. Captains K`Temoc and Andrews, Colonel Highsmith, Lieutenant Commander Wright, work up scenarios to not only respond to and defend any of the colonies if they come under attack by either Pirates or Romulans, as well as assault plans in case we need to go in for any reason. Dr. t`khellian, review records of each of the colonies' for any special medical needs, as well as any anomalies we would need to be aware of if we need to send down Marines or Medical aid. Ensign Dar, Petty Officer O'Reily, see if Starfleet Intel or Security have any reports of what types of weapons or ships Clark's group or the colonies have or could possibly get their hands on. Captain Harrison can get you access."

The Admiral looked around the room at everyone again. "Let's be through, dig into any lead you find. We'll remain here until our group at Talos arrives with Commodore Pike's remains. Also, tomorrow, Starfleet has assigned another two vessels to SB400. The new Diligent class ship USS Steadfast and the Steamrunner class USS Constantinople. They will arrive tomorrow."

Mike once again looked around at everyone, "Any questions?"

No one spoke up.

"Dismissed."
