Mission:
Episode 93 - Warrior VS Warrior
Location: Starbase 400 : Section D : Deck 435
Timeline: MD 3 : 0930 Hours
Sitting in the secondary shuttle bay Chief White kept going over the mission ahead of him. Team with Commodore Lee as a pair of Mercs for hire and get in with Morderin. It seemed simple enough in thought but like any mission there was always variables that were unknown that could arise. He sat there looking at the assimilated ship he and a few officers had put together from others and smiled. At least he and Lee had something right off the bat that would impress Morderin and hopefully help win him over. As he smiled over the vessel they had pieced together, he reflected back to the what went into it's construction and who played a part in making it work.
************
It was just after the meeting with Admiral Bremer where White had given his plan to send lesser known officers in undercover to apprehend Morderin. He then spent the next thirty minutes going over all the confiscated shuttles the station had lying around it's shuttle bay. This included the ones that had been damaged during their apprehension and were classified as non-salvageable. He knew better though, especially with what he could do to bridge and repair technology, he could make something from the parts of different nothings. He just needed a sturdy base to start off with, and he found it in the form of an confiscated older Maquis Peregrine Fighter. He smiled as it materialized in the repair bay in front of him. It was in working order itself but needed some TLC along with a few components and some Borg upgrades before it would help sell him to Modern.
He tapped his commbadge =/\= "It's here Dockmaster. Please transport the other two as well" As he spoke, a Romunlan SHuttle that looked like it had been through hell and Reman Scorpion with a hole through it's cockpit materialized as well. =/\= "All received. Thank you Dockmaster." He tapped his commbadge a second time, =/\= "Commander Solomon, Commander Gillo and Lieutenant Hades, would you three join me in Shuttle Maintenance Bay D 435? And bring your tool kits with you if you will please." He then took off his uniform coat and grabbed his kit himself. He then went over to the Scorpion and began removing it's two plasma cannons.
Hades had just finished a report when the call came through. Shri was still off base so he had to do the medi reports. He didn't envy the chief medical officer. Sighing and jumping at the chance to stop filling out paper work he stood and grabbed his bag heading down to Bay D. He wondered what he had to do.
Lee had made his way after the meeting to see what the Chief had in mind, he spotted him looking a couple shuttles over as he stepped further in. "You seem to be enjoying yourself there Chief?"
Chief White removed the Dorsal Plasma Cannon and literally tossed it into a wheeled crate before dropping below to get the Fore stationary one. "You could say that Commodore. Preparing for this mission will allow me to work with my hands while imploring the side effects of an entrapped youth." He opened his tool kit and went to work as he spoke. "There is a slightly scrapped up Klingon Shuttle in the docking bay I left for you seeing as how you traveled with a Klingon disrupter earlier. That is of course if you want to keep a theme going." As he removed enough of the panel holding the weapon in place he put down his tools and grabbed the panel w/ both hands. There was a build of up sound as the metal began to bend under his grip until finally he tore the weapon free of the ship. "Good, just like they would have done and no one will be able to question it as apart from an android, no one could have done that." He said to himself seemingly lost in thought.
Lee nodded "Yes I'm familiar with Klingon equipment, I'm also familiar with Romulan equipment as well." He turned to head towards the Klingon shuttle when he heard White talking to himself, he stopped and turned his head "Are you ok there Chief?"
He tossed the other weapon into the bin and proceeded over to the Romulan Shuttle. "I'm good Commodore. I do tend to think outloud and talk to myself when I get in the zone." He paused for a moment. "I hope Stonebridge is coming up with a good cover story for his merc ID as well. That and I really hope without you, the group will be able to pull this off. Your leadership was why I suggested you try to compete then take the offer when Modern eventually asked you to join his crew."
Hades walked into the bay. He looked at everyone there. "Hi everyone! So to quote my favorite EMH. What's the nature of the medical emergency?"
Jack arrived in the Bay as requested by the Chief and immediately saw what he would call a small fleet of various shuttles waiting before him. He noticed the Chief talking to Commodore Pike and wandered over, taking note of Lt Hades being present as well.
"Reporting as ordered Chief! Can I ask what idea you have in mind with all these?" Jack asked, seeing that he was already well into working on one of the shuttles...
Hades looked around, "I don't see a medical emergency."
Lee looked over at Hades shook his head then just headed over to the Klingon shuttle.
The Chief smiled. "Ahh Dr. Hades and Commander Solomon, glad you both could make it. I will be going on an extended away mission and will be outfitting that old Peregrine Fighter as my personal ship for the mission. Jack, what I'd like to ask of you is to get aboard that Romulan shuttle there and remove the damaged cloak, the Singularity Core Unit from the Engine Core, the Plasma Cannon and the Shield Emitters." He turned to the doctor, "Hades. I'd like you to pull up the blueprints from my personal files and construct a Control/Regeneration Alcove set in to the back wall of the Cockpit aboard the fighter." He started to go back to work and stopped realizing that he left his friends with many questions. He turned back to them, "I will be assimilating the components of these ships into one and then, upgrading the systems using Borg Nanoprobes from my bloodstream. By the time I'm done this ship will be up to to par of a Class I Sphere." He smiled at the two of them trying to reassure them but knowing the questions would be coming.
Hades' eyes nearly bugged out. He was making a Borg ship? "Okay...." He said. "I guess I can do that." He had so many questions but... "Um...I'm assuming the admiral knows about this?"
White looked at Hades, the Admiral is aware we are needing a great cover to succeed in a dangerous mission. But the specifics are being keptnclose to the chest due to security concerns. I brought you two in because I trust you both."
Jack smiled as he understood the tasks set by the Chief. After having had their chat in the bar the other day, he had a funny feeling there was a reason behind all this and White had already figured out what he needed.
"I'll get started right away Chief," Jack answered before heading over to the Romulan Shuttle. He stopped as he walked past the Chief. "It sounds like your either planning on doing some hunting or a cracking away mission... If you need some company..." He finished as he carried on towards the Shuttle. Jack opened the hatch and began working on the parts needed.
"I appreciate the offer Jack but just a few hours to help me rig this ship up is all the help I can accept." He left the crate by the Peregrine Fighter and walked over to Lee. "Commodore, if you feel we stand a better chance of getting to this guy together I'm all for it. These fighters typically were a two man job anyway. I'm not much of a pilot but I can hit a target while taking evasive actions. I'm all for you taking the lead here and I'll back you up. Your call sir." The Chief went back over to the fighter and began roughly attaching the Plasma Cannons to the power relays of the ship. The rotating on top while the stationary one connected to the aft structure.
Jack heard the Chief's response and understood. He'd been lucky enough to have both Admiral Wolfe & Admiral Bremer to allow him to go on personal missions before and he knew that you only took who and what you needed. He finished off removing the Shield Emitters before heading to remove the Cloaking Device. However Jack admitted to himself as he worked away, he was curious as to how this ship when finished...
Holly got the call from Dock Master as to who was down there requesting old ships and why. She texted him to go ahead and retrieve the ships that it was authorized by the command officer of the station. Dock Master was one of those who orders followed chains and if it didn't make any sense to him he questioned it and Holly understood. Old world military tended to be more unforgiving when it came to orders than the youth of the day. The comm message from Petty Officer told her that he was well on his way of getting things done she responded to the comm with one of her own, “I'll be there as soon as possible.” Working with an assignment of this magnitude Holly had to give the systems time to adjust to things before she would consider a minor adjustment completed. Sure enough in the amount of time it took her to grab her mobile work kit the station systems had rest and she was free to leave operations.
Didn't take much time to travel to where the work was to be done at but in that time period Holly was able to gather her thoughts and attempt to wrap her mind around the whole thing. She still was very much into her old assignment's mind frame and it was still difficult for her to speak more than a few words at a time outside of work related issues. She pulled in her mind and locked it away so not to get overwhelmed by the others in the area and then approached the bay where they were going to be working. Walking through the doors and letting them close behind her she just looked around and took in everything before speaking, “I am here as requested.” It was with that response that she got to putting down the kit somewhere off to the side where she knew it would be out of the way and then went about the business of attempting to figure out her peace in this whole thing. PADD in hand it beeped a few seconds after she had put her kit down with a message that she responded to right away. Everything was moving fast and so she would have to take it all in quickly to perform her function properly. Waiting for verbal acknowledgements from the people in the area she non-verbally went about looking at what they had and how far the work had been getting done so far.
"Good to see you Commander Gillo. So far the Dockmaster has been very accommodating." The Chief dropped down from the top of the Peregrine and walked to her, "Please let me know what I owe you for your help with all this."
Holly had to smile watching the Chief drop down from Peregrine before she responded, “I'll let you know how much this all costs later. Right now just enjoy building the new ship and let me know how I can help.”
The Chief smiled back, "You've done everything I think we will need Commander. But thank you for the additional offer of assistance."
Lee stopped on what he was working on and turned to look at the Chief "I have been known to pilot a few shuttles pretty good in my day and time Chief. Honestly I do feel that we could get him better with the two of us then just one of us." He turned back to working on the Klingon shuttle.
The Chief looked back at Lee and smiled. "Sounds great Commodore. Feel free to adjust the piloting controls to your preferred specs then."
Jack completed his work on the Romulan Shuttle, making sure that the Shield Emitter, Plasma Cannon and Cloaking device were all secured on a large anti-grav cargo sled. Having pulled those over to the craft that White was planning on upgrading with the extra tech, Jack headed back over the Romulan Shuttle for the second sled which held the damaged Singularity Core, which he had secured and powered down.
Jack carefully manuvered the sled to White's craft and came to a halt as the Chief appeared. "As requested, the various parts from the Romulan Shuttle for your craft," he explained. "I've checked the core and I can see that with some Borg assistance you should have this ready to go in no time."
"Sounds great Jack. Lets start placing everything where it needs to be then once Hades and I get the alcove working, I'll come by to begin nanoprobe insertions into the systems to force their assimilation with one another. By the time we're done, this ship will be like a mini-Defiant Class for two."
Jack smiled as he nodded in agreement with the Chief. "Now that sounds like a ship... I'll get these parts organised and ready for you," he confirmed.
Lee was by himself working on the Klingon shuttle, lost deep in thought about a lot of things, his wife, step son, his soon to be twin children, his family, the Klingons already killed by the battles going on. He just shook his head.
The Chief went aboard the Peregrine and began wiring the consoles and backups into the base of the alcove, assisting Dr. Hades in the base wiring of of the ship's systems to the regeneration matrix. "Once all the components are connected doctor, I am going to need you to extract three hyposprays of nanoprobes from my left side, From there one hypospray will inject them into the alcove here, one into the shield grid and final one into the weapons array. I will then directly inject the warp core and cloaking device. It will take a couple hours then but the nanoprobes will reconfigure the systems into one fluid working set." The chief smiled to himself knowing that him and Lee's cover will be easy to get picked up and hired by Morderin."
Lee finished removing the disrutpor cannons off of the ship and dragged them out into the open towards the rest of them, he then looked around checking on the others.
Hades was still a bit blurry on things but he finished the last of the connections and then picked up a hypo. "Okay turn to your left and cough...."
Hades saw the look White gave him. "Sorry, doctor humor." He grinned as he injected White and pulled out nano probes. "Okay so now the transfer. Will you be doing that or me?"
The Chief looked at Hades, "I think I can handle that doctor since you seemed skiddish last time you were asked to handle them." He took the few hypo containers and the injector and moved around to each location and injected each container. When he got to the weapons array he help Lee finish attaching the disruptor cannons then injected the last does manually using his tubules. As he did the entire ship lit up as the dormant nanoprobes came to life, combining and modifying the multiple different types of technology into one extremely efficient and well armed vessel that any pirate would be envious of.
White made his way inside the Peregrine and initiated the pre-startup sequence. The panels glowed with those eerie shades of green that were standard of Collective Interfaces. At the same time the ship itself hummed to life and began to glow the same. The engines, life support, weapons array, cloak, shields, structural integrity and sensors all came on and checked out within operating perimeters. The Chief exited the ship and moved to Commodore Lee, "I'll have her covertly loaded aboard the Luna sir."
Lee nodded turning to look at the Chief "Ok Chief, that works. Make sure to be careful when you do."
************
The Chief's mind came back to the present as he heard over the intercom that they were approaching Nimbus III. He tapped his combadge, =/\= "White to Lee, the ship is ready to cloak and depart the Luna whenever you are.
Lee tapped the comm "Ok Thanks Chief, we will be departing very shortly."
