Hades had started Deb's treatments so he was occupied which left Shrivol to tend to the sickbay. Splendor hadn't known this so she went in wanting to speak to Hades. It as one of the Nurses that told her that Hades was occupied and she called in Dr. Thr'elanon.
Shrivol was in his office drinking another large mug of coffee, he was not as tired as he had been the past couple days but still needed a pick me up. Shrivol didn't look up from his PADD when he saw someone walk in. "How can I help you?" He said instinctively.
"Sir, there is a Dr. Splendora Sage here to see Dr. Hades but he's busy. If you recall she was the young woman who was brought in by Dr. Raya last night. Dr. Hades took over her are. She was the one that was beaten up pretty bad. I was with Doctor Hades when he treated her. If you wish I can fill you in...." She wasn't sure if he'd read the reports yet."
Shrivol got up from his desk. "Oh yes, I read part of that but kept getting interrupted." he said, that was the one thing on the job he hated, not being able to finish every report. "I hope she doesn't mind seeing me instead." He said as he walked out to meet with Dr. Splendora.
Splendora looked up at the Andorain. "Dr. Thr'elanon?" The swollen forehead and lip were still there. The black eye very visible and the purple buries on her throat were there. She still looked like crap but doctor Hades had told her it would be a few days before things started to fade but he bruised vocal cords could be a while.
"Dr. Splendora, how are you?" He said showing concern, the bruising should have been gone and he wondered if a different treatment was called for, he took out a tricorder and started scanning her.
"I'm okay. Still hurts to talk but Hades said that it would be at least a month if I continued to talk...but as a therapist talking is key."
Shrivol scanned her more and looked at her. "We might be able to shorten the time, but there is no guarantee. At least it would hurt less for you to talk. Its a relatively knew procedure, it is essentially setting a dermal regenerator setting for deep tissue repair."
"Hades mentioned something about that. I have to go away from the station a few days so let's try that."
"Okay. Just lean back while I get things set up." Shrivol made the adjustments to the regenerator and moved back to Sage. "You can call me Shrivol by the way, I am informal especially with other Doctors." He said with a smirk. He moved the device right over her neck and directly above her vocal cords. A few seconds later the regenerator's job was done. Shrivol then helped Sage sit back up his hands positioned on her back and shoulders. "Lets see how that helped."
"I don't know." She smiled. "Hey!" Her voice was back to normal. "It worked." She smiled wider. "That's wonderful, Shrivol! Call me Splendora." She swung her lets over the bio bed. It was just the outward bruising now. "Oh... While I'm here." She hopped off the bed pulled a PADD out of her messenger bag. "This is for your. It's a consent form to release Dr. Hades' medical records to me and for me to discuss aspects of his treatment with you. I'm currently going to prescribe Lavender Green tea for sleep. He's been having issues with that."
Shrivol took the PADD and mulled it over, it wasn't the order that bothered him but it was something that scared Shrivol, the fact that Hades was feeling sick made Shrivol worry more and more and he tried hiding his concern. "Y..yes..." he said clearing his throat nervously. He pressed the confirm button with his right thumb. "I think I have something for the bruising that will help." he said quickly changing the subject and handing the PADD back to her then heading to his office.
Splendora waited. Her Betazoid sense was twitching. The man was worried about Hades, she could sense it. She would have to find a few things out.
He returned with a jar. "This is an ointment developed on Andoria, I think it will speed the healing process substantially." Shrivol said in a tone that was lower than previous.
She looked at him. "Are you okay Shrivol?"
Shrivol gave a look that said nothing. "Of course." He said with a smile that couldn't be more fake, a nurse handed him his coffee mug as he looked at the PADD. "I suppose this is everything." His voice and demeanor changed, he was not as outgoing as he was.
Splendora smiled at him. "As a therapist my door is always open Shrivol. You have something on your mind and it's not healthy to keep I inside."
Shrivol wasn't sure what to say "I always have a lot on my mind Doctor." Shrivol was avoiding it, he didn't know exactly what to say, he had missed telling Hades how he felt and his mind drifted to when Hades helped him get to his quarters and he wished they kissed.
"Ohhhh you do have a lot on your mind and judging by your flushed cheeks it's someone."
Shrivol gave a smirk "Yes it is always someone in this line of work, isn't it?" he said turning to go back to his office. He hated how he felt and the missed opportunities.
"Well thank you for the cream and it was good to meet you finally. Heard a lot about you."
Shrivol turned, "Oh from who?" He said expecting the nurses had been talking about him.
She smiled winked and headed to the door. "Oh...around."
'Wonder if it was Hades.' Shrivol said to himself, causing himself to blush even more. He hated not feeling in control but he needed to talk to someone and She was a counselor. "I might have to take you up on a conversation." Shrivol said sounding extremely uncomfortable.
She grinned. "Well we can talk in your office if you like or we can make it official and do the appointment thing. What would make you comfortable?"
"I don't have a lot of time." Shrivol said, knowing full well he made sure he didn't "In my office if you don't mind." He led her into the office and closed the door. He started pacing back and fourth behind his desk he was nervous talking about it. "Suppose a person..." he cleared his throat several times. "...Likes another person but is starting to like them more and more." His thoughts were unorganized his palms were starting to get sweaty.
Splendora was dizzy with all the pacing. She was worried he'd fall through the floor and wear out the carpet but some people did this and she as not going to stop him from pacing if it helped him think. "Well okay liking someone is not a crime and I would think liking them more and more is good. Does this person feel that way about you?"
"I don't think so." He finally sat down, he realized that he blurted out more information than intended. "Look, I don't think he does, I think he's confused." With that he realized he was admitting more than he would have wanted to. "I think he's confused. He hasn't been in a same sex relationship."
"Ah." She thought a moment. "So it's complicated. Okay well. Do you like him enough to speak with him about your feelings? I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's someone you work with right?"
Shrivol rolled his eyes. "Doctor, you know who it is." He said bluntly. "I have tried but every time it gets mucked up. We almost kissed but he realized that was a mistake and he left abruptly."
"Okay. Well..." She was thinking how to do this without breaking confidentiality. "Have you thought about confronting it head on and just calling him into your office and speaking with him?"
"I tried, I seriously don't know how he feels, Hades..." There he said it, Shrivol finally said his name and just saying his name made him blush. "He doesn't give clear enough signs, I don't know if he wants a friend if he wants a date if he wants something else." Shrivol lowered his tone "Doctor, I have never felt this way, not even with my late fiance'."
"Hmmm. Well not telling him is eating you up inside. It seems to be hurting you. You are going to always wonder and if you say he's confused and hasn't been in this kind of relationship then maybe it's time he needs but if he doesn't feel the same and you are holding out hope it's going to effect your well being so the only option is speaking with him. What's the worst that could happen?"
"Right now I know his health can't take the stress of a new relationship. I have contemplated transferring even resigning." Shrivol reached for a drawer and pulled out a hypospray. "My health will tolerate it all." He said adjusting medication then pressing it against his right thigh. "I just don't know what else to do, there are times he avoids me completely."
"Well it could be, like you said confusion on his part. Maybe your liking him is causing you to treat him differently did you think of that? Maybe he's wondering if he did anything wrong?"
"I thought about that. Doctor, I have not, to my knowledge, done anything to change how I treat him. I have tried talking him even on lunch or dinner breaks." Shrivol sat back "I am part Aenarian, he keeps blocking me even telepathically, yet I feel like he is in my mind at times." Shrivol got quiet feeling like he was going crazy."
"Okay You said transfer or resign. Don't go nuts here. What do you like to do for fun? What helps you relax?"
"I read but physically I like to swim." Shrivol said connecting to where she was going with this question. "At least I used to, I haven't been in a while."
"Okay well Doctor's orders you need a stress break. Why don't you swim tonight. Go and have some relax time and don't think about this or anything. When you're I want you to seriously consider speaking with Hades. If it helps I can bring you both in and I can facilitate the communication. I mean your stressed and obviously worried about him and you shouldn't have to transfer because of his. You are both adults and talking helps a lot."
Shrivol looked around. "I think I will do that, I just have to find my swim suit from the academy." He said with a smile. "If it gets that far maybe we will, maybe I am just enjoying driving myself insane."
Splendora laughed. "Ohhhh I know what that's like. Trust me I have my own love problems that are not that too different from yours. So I really do understand."
Shrivol gave her a curious look. "Who counsels the counselor?" He said with a smile.
She grinned. "That's always the hard part my friend. Sometimes there just isn't anyone." She stood. "Now I will be gone for a week at most and when I get back we're going to help you."
"Well, if you need a doctor to listen I have a few cases of Romulan ale." Shrivol said with a smile. "I hope you have a safe journey and try the cream it should help."
She smiled, "I will. Can't wait to get rid of the bruising." She stopped and turned at the door. "Promise me that you will rest."
Shrivol pulled out a bag and removed his swim suit. "I promise I will. In fact I am going to get things ready to do so."
She smiled and was gone.
