Hades left sickbay after checking on a few patients and headed to the café on the promenade to pick up a couple of coffees. He walked up to the counter. “One large coffee two creams no sugar and one cappuccino.” He picked up the drinks and headed to see a certain Marine.

Hades entered the lift. “Deck 41.”

After a few wrong turns he found Braxton’s office and saw Brax seated on the ground looking through a bunch of stuff.

Hades leaned against the door jab. “Hey Brax. How goes day one?”

Brax looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. He just motioned with his arms to the mess around him.

“I see you’re preparing your med kits and looking over things."

Brax gave a nod.

Hades handed him a Cappuccino. “Okay so here’s your coffee. Thanks for taking care of Lai’lira off hours.“

Brax gave a nod. “Since when do you drink coffee?” He asked.

Hades smiled. “My DCO is a coffee addict. I thought I would give coffee a try instead of tea. So how are you doing? I know it was the anniversary of Nicole’s death.”

Brax shrugged. He wasn’t ready to talk about that. He wasn’t ready to talk period, although he was worried about Hades. “What of you?” He asked.

Hades sat down on the ground next to Brax and started helping him assemble the kits. “I’m okay. Dr. Thr’elanon discovered that what happened last year might have been due to the El Aurian and Vulcan mix. It might not have been just a breakdown.”

Brax raised an eyebrow which in Brax talk meant ‘go on’.

Hades sighed. “Long story.” He told him about what it was like being on the station, what his DCO was like, the Romulan incident, and about Lai’lira.

Brax sighed as he closed the last kit. “I will watch her off hours.”

Hades smiled. “I will help as much as I can. It’s been a rough few days here. I’m just glad to be back in action. When I’m off shift I can watch her too. Plus I’ve hired someone to keep an eye out for her when she is at work. Did you know she got a job?”

Brax gave a nod. “Healing center.”

Hades smiled and gave a nod. “I’m guessing she’s pretty excited.”

Braxton chuckled, “She would not stop talking all night.”

Hades looked at his cousin, “So how was it being in Sticky Nicky’s unit?”

“Sticky.”

Hades laughed. “I get it. Brax can I sit here a while?” He said as he leaned against the wall.

Brax looked at him. “Alright?” He asked.

Hades shook his head. “No. Remember Aiden?”

Brax gave a nod. He figured he was due for a break and sat beside his cousin. He said nothing, allowing Hades to talk on his own.

“It’s happening all over. I just…” He sighed and then it all came out. He told Brax what he was thinking, what he was feeling, and what he was afraid of.

Brax just nodded. “You must speak your mind about that.”

“It’s too soon Brax. Not yet. And what if the answer is no?”

Brax sighed, “You must not be afraid. Do you not think that it is your time to be happy?”

It was Hades’ turn to shrug.
