Mission: Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2 1000hrs, Following 'A Walk'

ON:

After his little trip to the Pegasus, Bremer returned to Ops and waited for the rest of the Senior Staff to arrive. In the meantime, he sent a message to Commander Stark about getting Holo-Suite 4's processors and memory upgraded. He hoped Stark would appreciate the task, and the break from his current R&D assignments.

Lee stepped off the turbo lift and walked over to the replicator grabbing himself a Betazoid coffee before walking over to where Admiral Bremer was. "Hello Admiral."

"Good morning Captain." Mike replied before looking up to see who else was arriving in Ops.

Holly came back on duty walking back into Ops and taking up her position. She didn't say a word and just waited for orders. There was a reason why the Admiral had called them all back in and it was going to be a time of his choosing that he revealed what it was. She was dressed in proper uniform and waited to see what was going on.

T'Lar and Harrison walked in together. Harrison saw her husband and walked over to him. She nodded to Bremer, "Admiral." With a smirk on her face, she stole the cup of coffee from Lee's hand and took a sip. She smiled, "Thanks."

T'Lar saw what Alex had done and couldn't help but smile. She joined them as well.

Bremer smiled at Harrison's taking the cup from Lee.

Lee looked at Alex with a raised eyebrow then shook his head as he headed over to the replicator to grab another Betazoid coffee then coming back over.

Jewel walked out of the turbo lift and into ops, her back has been bothering her lately due to her pregnancy but she didn't let that stop her from doing her job. She knew she would be taking maternity leave here soon but she wanted to finish off this mission first. "Morning Mike, everyone." Jewel replied.

Billy followed Jewel in quietly, nodding to the room as she greeted them to indicate he meant it as well. He sat next to her with a PADD he brought to read. He had downloaded everything he could find on the Krazzle. Since he was new to the region he was still studying the races within it that he was likely to encounter. Due to this meeting, he put the Krazzle at the top of his list. He began to read it, giving himself a crash course on the Krazzle.

"Good morning General." Mike replied to Jewel. He was waiting for Sevlek and Lokran to arrive before hailing the Krazzle vessel that they were ready for them to beam over.

R'nard arrived just then and was ready for them.

Mike also noticed T'Lana and Cha'Tal were also in Ops, standing beside the Intel position. He walked over to the Klingon and Romulan exchange officers.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Bremer said with a smirk.

Both of them looked back at the Admiral with confused expressions.

"Nevermind. You both look concerned." Mike replied.

"The Krazzle are not to be trusted, their dishonorable deeds are well known." Cha'Tal replied. "They are almost as treacherous as..." He paused as he glanced at T'Lana.

"As Romulans?" T'Lana added, glanced at Cha'Tal then back to Bremer, "He's right. As much as my people are known for their dishonesty and devious nature at times, the Krazzle are nearly as bad."

Cha'Tal grunted, then added, "The Klingons will abide by whatever is agreed to in these meetings, but we are concerned the Krazzle and Typhon Pact as a whole will not stick with whatever agreement is made."

"While we Romulans that have been living within Federation space these last four years are few in number, we too will agree with whatever the Federation decides on this matter. However, be warned, while the Krazzle are clearly trying to show their dominance, the Romulan Star Empire are the ones behind the scenes manipulating the whole of the Pact." T'Lana stated.

Bremer nodded, "Thank you." He then walked back over and waited for the others to arrive.

Saith had entered as Bremer concluded his discussion with Cha'Tal. She glanced around the room, spying an open space, Saith made her way there and stood at the ready.

R&D Lab

Meanwhile, in the R&D Lab, Stark had received orders from the Admiral to ‘move’ this Vic Fontaine holoprogram from the Pegasus to Starbase 400’s database. At first he thought it was a joke, why not just to a simple data transfer? He knew about the program, the original on DS9 and how a former Officer aboard the Pegasus, a Ferengi, had worked out a ‘trade’ of some kind with Dr. Bashir to get a full copy uploaded to the Pegasus. It seemed part of that trade had been made with the holograph Vic himself, and he agreed to be ‘duplicated’ this once. Before that, all previous attempts to copy the program had failed, and Rob was more interested in that level of security than the program itself.

Before leaving his lab, Rob set up a secure datalink between the Pegasus and a secured partition of one of Starbase 400’s computer cores. He then headed for the Pegasus. It was his first time aboard the famous ship, and while he knew about her missions and adventures, he saw her more as a tool. Technology.

Once he arrived at the holodeck, he tapped the panel and the doors opened. He heard several men talking up on the stage. He looked around, and the level of detail in the holograms were good, excellent even, but he didn’t see what all the fuss was over.

One of the men stepped off the stage and walked toward Rob, “You must be Commander Stark. The Admiral said he was sending someone over to help us get moved to the Starbase’s database. Sure will be nice to expand the place a little.” Vic said with a smile.

Stark was a little taken back, “You know you’re aboard a ship and moving to another database aboard the Starbase?”

“Hey, Pally, what kinda hologram do you take me for?” Vic asked with a smile.

“And you know you’re a hologram?” Stark was a little in awe.

Vic chuckled. “Of course. He pulled Stark to the side and spoke quietly. “Everything around here are just common holograms, even Frank, Dean, and Sammy up there. If you look though the program files, you’ll see the vast majority of the space needed is for...me. Not that I’m braggin.”

Stark looked Vic up and down, “No, not at all.” He paused a moment, “What exactly would you like for me to do?”

Vic then looked Stark up and down, “Aren’t you the engineer?”

“I’m the head of Starbase 400’s Research and Development Department, I have five PHDs ranging from mechanical engineering to holographic design to particle weapons development and design.” Stark described, but was cut off by Vic.

“So, you’re a smart engineer.” Vic calmly said, almost as a question.

“And you’re quite the Hologram, effervescent witticisms included.” Stark replied with a smirk. He paused a moment, then added, “Let me get the holo-suite set up, the base program. Your lounge, bar, the whole place using this one as the template. We can then get you moved over along with the Rat Pack up there. You’ll have more space to work with...physical and database wise.”

“Thanks Pally. We’ve got rehearsal so we’ll be here waiting.” Vic replied with a smile.

Rob nodded, looked around the room again, then headed back to the Station.

Ops

T'Lar joined Bremer after seeing him talking to T'Lana and Cha'Tal, "What is up with those two?"

“Concerned over this meeting and the Krazzle and/or Typhon Pact not following through with whatever is agreed too. Both of them say their Governments will abide by whatever is agreed upon, but you can tell they are uneasy about this.” Bremer replied.

Sevlek stepped into Ops and moved towards Bremer and T'Lar. When he was close enough, he spoke, "My apologies for being late. I was communicating with the Security Council and Councilor Gleer was speaking." Anyone who knew anything about Gleer knew that he was the very personification of long-winded. What someone else could say in 5 minutes, it took Gleer 60 minutes.

R'nard just shook his head. This was going to be a long mission, but he'd see what would happen there.

Holly was just observing the interactions like she normally did doing her best to try not to get too distracted with keeping herself in check. Checking over her station she listened but didn't retain anything that wasn't related to why they were all called back into ops for a meeting. It was her nature to be quite when in groups and it didn't change here. Once a marine always a marine.

With everyone now present, Bremer spoke his orders. “Clifford, you’ll be in command here during the meetings. We’re still business as usual when it comes to ships coming and going, but if anything seems suspicious, hold all incoming ships at the outer marker and allow no vessels to depart. Holly, keep a close eye on that Krazzle vessel, but also run periodic sweeps for any cloaked ships. Make them look like standard sensor scans of the area, nothing that we wouldn’t do on a regular basis. Do them at random times too, just in case any Romulan vessel is cloaked out there and ‘piggy-backed’ though our tachyon nets with that behemoth of a Krazzle vessel out there. If you find anything, advise us and have the patrolling vessels intercept. Roebuck, you have Tactical while R’nard is in the meetings. Get with Baratan and coordinate patrols. I want her solely on Security right now. ”

Andrew nodded, "very good, Admiral". Other than that he made no further comment.

Roebuck gave a respectful nod.

Holly acknowledged the commands given to her by the Admiral by nodding at him with a slight smile. She knew how to signal without getting caught at it if need be. This would be interesting to see how long they were going to get by with this game without getting caught or having their guest get suspicious about their scans.

Andrew looked around room at the officers he would be working with on this. As he looked he was thinking of the Admirals orders for regular scans and while he didn't want to inflame the situation he was going to make sure they knew they were being scanned, and that they weren't going to stop them.

Saith nodded. She was already reworking her patrol plan in her head. She glanced at Clifford and with another nod acknowledged silently that she would get with him as soon as they were dismissed here.

Mike then looked to Lokran, “Is the Meeting Room ready and secure?”

"All is rready, sirr." said R'nard.

“Good.” Bremer replied. “I want you to go with Captains Pike and Harrison to Transporter Room One to meet the Krazzle when they beam over and escort them to the Meeting Room. Once there, I want you to remain in the shadows.”

"Underrstood, sirr." said R'nard.

“Lee, Alex, meet the Krazzle in Transporter Room One, bring them to the Meeting Room. Once they are seated, advise them that Hurd, Sevlek, T’Lar, and I are delayed. We’re going to make them wait a little bit...let them know we’re in charge of this meeting, it’s happening on our terms and at our timeframe.” Bremer continued.

Alex whispered to Lee, "They are not going to like that."

Lee raised an eyebrow:"Understood sir" Speaking to Alex in her mind:"No Imzadi they probably won't"

Next he looked at his Flag Officers. “We're going to make them wait about ten minutes before we go in. Brief introductions, then Sevlek can...advise them on just what the Federation expects from this meeting and its outcome. Jewel, it’ll be your job to address any humanitarian concerns while Deela and I will remain quiet for now. Once we return after the lunch break, we’ll have something to say.”

Mike finally looked to his trusted Krazzle Marine Sergeant, “Sergeant Taz, I want you in the Meeting Room now, you’ll be the only one in there until Harrison and Pike arrive with the Krazzle delegation and Galine. Nothing you’ll need to do, just remain at your post, we’ll just need you to translate if possible.”

Taz nodded.

Mike then looked around at everyone else again, “Questions?”

Jewel just shook her head, this was going to be a challenge she hoped that she could pull it off. She still fairly new to this Diplomatic thing as she was more used to being....well a marine. But she was up for the challenged she just hoped that it would go smoothly. She didn't want to be the cause of another war...

Billy smiled at hearing Admiral Bremer's plan of making them wait. That was an old trope in the Diplomatic field pioneered in the Federation by Captain Edward Jellico when he briefly commanded the USS Enterprise-D during his meeting with the Cardassians. It was used for warrior type races where it was necessary to display dominance and control, usually played by the host of the meeting. He was sure if we sent a team to meet on a Krazzle facility, they would make our people wait as well.

Bremer glanced over and saw Billy had also arrived. “Lieutenant, I need you to contact the C’Hakilian Ambassador, find out from there if they have released and returned any Krazzle POWs they might have, and make sure their citizens have all been returned now as well. Let’s make sure we’re starting these talks off with nothing lingering undone from previous meetings and agreements.”

"Yes Sir. Right away Sir," Billy replied as he stood and took his PADD with him to go carry out his orders. He headed back to the Diplomatic Offices to make the call to the C'Hakilian Ambassador over sub-space.

Lee shook his head:"No sir no questions from me"

Holly shook her head no in response to his question about if anyone had any questions. It was pretty clear what he wanted her to do. It was going to be interesting to say the least but not the most dangerous thing she's been asked to do by a commanding officer. Perhaps this starbase life wasn't going to be a dull as she heard her shipmates telling her before the transfer.

Andrew shook his head, "Nothing from me, Admiral.

Transporter Room One

R'nard arrived at the transporter room and got on the pad. He would remain in the shadows until needed, as he was used to that.

Alex and Lee weren't too far behind R'nard. Alex wasn't looking forward to their assignment.

Lee walked next to Alex as they headed for the transporter room:"This is gonna be real fun."

Alex chuckled slightly, "Well, if they get upset, maybe you can give them a nice scratch behind the ear and offer them a glass of warm milk." She knew that this was no laughing matter but she couldn't help herself.

Once they arrived at the transporter room Lee gave a nod to the transporter chief and stood there waiting.

A few minutes after Lokran, Harrison, and Pike arrived in the transporter room, an orange light filled the air on the transporter padd. Within seconds no less than ten Krazzle beamed into the room. None were armed with energy weapons, so at least they were keeping their word out that.

After a second, Graline stepped forward and grunted, “Wherre is Admirral Brremerr?”

Lee stands there:"Admiral Bremer is busy right now taking care of somethings. I am Captain Leon Pike, Second Officer and Chief Intelligence Officer"

Graline grunted, he wasn't happy. "Take us to the meeting room, we will wait there."

One of Graline's Aids pulled out the Krazzle version of a PADD and tapped in some notes while a few others looked around the room, grunting. Krazzle didn't like waiting...

Alex didn't react even though she was sighing on the inside. "Okay then." Alex motioned to them, "Please follow me." She started walking in front of them, leading the way.

Lee raised an eyebrow but stepped to the side:"If you guys will follow the other Captain there, we'll head there now"

Graline glared at the Starfleet Captains, then Lokran caught his eye. He stopped and looked down at the smaller Tralazar for a moment, then continued on.

Outside the Transporter Room stood three Marines, Corporals Nas and Schmidt and Private T'ork. The Marines held their position until the Krazzle left the area, then they proceeded to their assigned posts in the Promenade.
