Alex watched as the men released Lee from the chair. They let Lee fall to the ground. He looked dead but Alex couldn't be sure. The man that was with her shook his head, "What a shame. Your son is next. The fool, he really thought that you'd want him to join you on this forsaken planet. Mr. Gullible he is. He is on his way here as we speak."
Alex struggled again, "You leave my son alone! He didn't do anything to you."
The man slammed his fist on the console, "My son didn't do anything to you either and you destroyed him. You could have put him in another department but you told Starfleet what happened and they kicked him out. The only thing he was guilty of was being green."
Alex shouted back, "Is that what he told you?! He froze! He froze not once but twice and if it hadn't been for another one of my officers having our backs, some of us would have been killed. He wasn't cut out for it. There is nothing wrong with being green but there is when a person just stands there shaking in their boots. A simulator doesn't prepare you for what we face out there. And as for Starfleet, they didn't kick him out, he resigned."
"Lies, lies, lies! He was kicked out! He had been wanting to join Starfleet ever since he became a teenager. He wouldn't just quit like that. He'd never disappoint me like that."
"Heaven forbid that he might disappoint you. I wouldn't be surprised if he joined Starfleet only to make you proud of him. And he lied to you so you wouldn't think that he was a failure. I've seen this happen before. Maybe you should take the blame yourself, not me."
"Enough with your lies. You'd say anything to keep me from hurting your son. Well, it won't work. I've already killed your husband. Now you are going to watch your son die too."
"Why don't you just kill me now and get it over with." Alex pleaded.
He walked to the door, "Oh, I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to let you live, knowing that your actions got them killed." He walked out the door.
Alex let out an exasperated growl.
The men huddled together, "Why did you tell her that her son was coming? We don't even have her husband much less her kid."
"I want to make her suffer. Just the thought that we have her son is sheer torture for her. Besides, I AM going to get her husband one way or another. And when I do, I am going to kill him."
Rygel turned ash white, "Wa...wait a minute. You never said anything about killing anyone. You said that you were just going to scare her. I can't be a part of this anymore. I'm out."
"You can't. You are already involved. If we go down, you do too. Don't forget about our deal. The deal is off if we get caught."
The other two men just stood there listening to Rygel and the father. One of them spoke up, "I have to say that bringing her son into this was not a wise move. I don't have an image of her son which is required to change the holodeck program. And even if I did, there is no time for me to write the program for it."
The boy's father sighed, "I didn't even know that she had a son until recently. If I had, he would be in that chair instead of that dumb hologram. But he is a smart boy. His mother taught him well."
The other man had been silent until now, "Look, all of this talk is getting us nowhere. I don't care what you problem is with that woman. Let's just find her husband and bring him back here. You do whatever the hell you want with that man, I don't need to know. But I'm getting the flock out of here when we are done. Now let's get going. The longer we wait, the more time her husband will have to get help from his Starfleet friends."
The father shook his head, "Agreed. And whatever you do, don't get your asses beat again. Also, if you by chance get caught and you name names, our deal is off as well and your wives can rot in that penal colony forever. Rygel, you stay here. All I need for you is to get caught and blab who and where we are hiding."
The two men took off. Rygel and the father escorted her back to her cell. Alex paced in her cell, "Come on Alex. Pull yourself together. Get your emotions in check." Alex needed to escape.
As Alex looked around, something in the back of her mind kept nagging at her. If she was his imzadi, she would have felt something, especially the pain that he undergone. Then it hit her. They somehow got someone else and made him look like Lee or they altered someone to look like him. Alex started laughing, laughing at herself that she fell for it. It was obvious that they didn't know what race Lee was. But she was so emotional at the time that she wasn't thinking straight.
She thought about Paul too. She was confident that Paul wouldn't go anywhere with someone he didn't know.
Alex sat down and realized that Lee may still be in danger. But knowing Lee, he wouldn't be fooled again.
Inn
Lee received the call from General Torg. The Ya'Vang was orbiting Risa cloaked. Torg's son Azhurlar was beaming down to the planet along with 4 heavily armed Klingon soldiers to help Lee find Alex. Lee cut the transmission and awaited the arrival of the Klingons.
The two men cautiously approached the Inn, looking around for any sign of Lee. They didn't see him but they knew that he wouldn't go far. This time, they brought weapons with them. They entered one of the rooms and hid out of sight. They would wait for any sign of Lee. They knew he would not be alone soon.
Lee decided to head back to the room with the Klingons trailing a few feet behind, Lee acting like he was alone to set a trap.
The two men peaked out and saw Lee, "I don't have a good feeling about this. Let's just go, walk away. He keeps making promises but how do we know that he will keep it?"
The other man looked at him, anger welling up inside, "We don't have a choice. Our wives are being punished for something that they didn't do. I'll be damned if I let my wife down. He's the only one who can get them out of there. If we leave now, he'll never give the authorities the evidence that will exhonerate our wives. Now shut up and let's do this."
"I know you're right but I also don't want my nose smashed into my skull. So what's the plan?" He wasn't feeling so confident now that he had seen Lee in action.
Rulek was unaware that the two men had come back. LuLu was with him to finish getting the remaining rooms linens changed. The two men heard the door open and hid in the bedroom. Rulek held the door open for LuLu who was holding folded linens in her hands. Rulek followed her as they made their way to the bedroom. A look of terror came over her face. She dropped the linens on the floor as one of the men grabbed her. Rulek was just too old to fight them.
"Look here old man, you are going to help us. You are to go over there and tell him that you found something in this room that could lead him to his wife and he needs to come see it. And you'd better be convincing or this pretty girl is going to die, got it?"
"Y...y...yes sir." He looked at LuLu and the men's faces and could see that they were desperate. He nodded as he turned to leave. One of the men watched him closely, making sure that he didn't give Lee any reason to question. LuLu tried to scream but her mouth was quickly covered with her captors hand.
Rulek walked over to Lee's room, "Excuse me but I was cleaning one of those rooms that the men stayed in and I found something. Quickly, follow me." Rulek moved to the door then looked back to see if he was coming.
Lee could sense that Rulek was lying and the other guys were laying in wait but he didn't want to harm to come to innocents so he played along motioning to the Klingons to follow carefully.
One of the men was standing against the wall next to the door with his disruptor pointed towards the door. The other man continued holding the girl while cupping her mouth. She kept whimpering, "One more sound out of you and I will kill you where you stand. Got it lady?"
LuLu nervously shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. He stood in the dark bedroom waiting to make his move as well. Rulek stopped and turned to Lee, "It's this room right here." Rulek and Lee's eyes met and he knew that he wasn't fooling Lee at all. Then it was confirmed when he saw Klingons shadowing them. Rulek took a breath, "LuLu actually found it." Rulek hoped that he'd get the clue that LuLu was there also and in danger.
Rulek slowly walked into the room. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the man with a weapon and swallowed hard as he cleared the door. Rulek, whose vision was impeccable, could see deeply into the bedroom that a weapon was also being held on LuLu. The man, needing his hands free, let go of LuLu and motioned for her to sit on the bed. He showed her the weapon in a threatening manner, reminding her that she was dead if she tried to warn or escape.
Rulek didn't want to tip Lee's hand so he moved further into the room as if he was really going to show Lee something. LuLu noticed that her captor's attention was no longer on her so she slowly moved off of the bed while keeping an eye on him. She coward in the corner, the bed shielding her from harm. She sat there shaking intensely.
Once Lee came in and cleared the door, the man pointed his disruptor at Lee and then moved behind him. "Surprise!" The man stood proudly and grinned, "The road ends here for ya pal." The other man walked out of the bedroom while Rulek ran in to check on LuLu. Rulek whispered to her, "It's okay. Lee's got great warriors here to help him." Rulek joined her and waited for all hell to break loose.
A small smile appeared across Lee's face as he knew they were in for a world of surprise.
"Search him. Make sure that he doesn't have any weapons." The other one complied. "Nothing. Now let's get out of here."
The one holding the disruptor on Lee shook his head, "Not until we tie up those loose ends in there." The other man looked mortified, "That wasn't in the plan. We have him, let's go."
"Go, now or I will drop you right here." He walked towards the bedroom with his head down, talking under his breath, "Insane bastard."
Lee nodded as he held his hands in front of him and started slowly for the door. He felt the Klingons approach the door to the room. Before anyone could react the 5 Klingons rushed into the room disruptors drawn.
Azhurlar:"No one move or we'll fire."
The man rolled his eyes as he lowered his weapon. The other man in the bedroom heard gruff voices and+ pointed the disruptor at his chest, "I give you back your lives." At that, he fired, killing himself." Rulek and LuLu came out of the bedroom, obviously upset. Rulek shook his head.
"You've ruined everything! Forget about getting your wife back." The remaining man threw his weapon on the ground. "You minus well kill me. I'm not saying a word.
Lee smiled and walked over to the man back handing him across the face then pulling out a d'tang stabbed the man in the side of the knee:"Where is my wife?"
The man yelled in pain. He collapsed to the ground, holding his leg, "I'm not telling you a thing. If I tell you, my wife will rot in a penal colony. I'd rather die than ruin any chance for my wife to have a life."
Lee stabbed the man again this time leaving the knife there then twisting it:"Who is your wife and where she being held?" He motioned for a data padd.
He groaned, his voice strained, "My wife? There's nothing you can do to help her. The man who has your wife framed mine and Charlie's wife and said that if I didn't help him, he'd destroy the only thing that will get my wife exonerated."
He felt the knife twist a little more, "Before I tell you, you must promise me that you will help my wife."
Lee nodded:"You have my word I will do everything I can to help your wife."
He gave Lee all of the information about his wife and where she was being held. He proceeded to give him the information where his wife was being held, "As soon as you walk into the room, on your right, there is a grey panel. You can't miss it. The code is 13526. It'll open a door that leads to a basement. She's being held in the second room." He started to breathe heavily as he closed his eyes, wanting the pain to stop.
"Thank you" He reached down and pulled out the d'ktahng but didn't put it away."But you my friend will be going to your prison for awhile yourself for kidnapping a Star Fleet officer."
"I don't care about me. It'll be worth it as long as my wife is okay." He laid on the floor continuing to pant hard from the pain.
Lee then nodded and took off with Azhurlar and two Klingons while the other two stayed behind to guard the prisoner.
Undisclosed Place
Back where Alex was being held, the boy's father and Rygel waited impatiently for the men to arrive, "Something is wrong. They should have been back by now. If they don't get back here in the next twenty minutes, we're taking her and getting out of here."
Rygel was starting to rethink this whole situation he had gotten himself in. He knew that the boy's father was going to kill Alex. He drew the line at killing. Plus, he was starting to think that this man was in denial. Rygel also came to the conclusion that the boy's father wasn't going to help him either. "I'm going to get some air." He had two choices, one of which was finding this Lee guy and lead him to his wife or to just disappear and make a new life for himself. He needed to think.
The boy's father started to gather his things so he could make a quick getaway. His plan was a failure. Rygel hadn't made it to the door yet. The boy's father needed to tie up the loose ends so he walked over to Rygel and killed him with the disruptor on the highest setting. He sighed as he walked off to pack up.
Lee and the Klingons reached where they was told where Alex was being held. Lee entered the code then slowly entered.
Tossing the last item in his duffel bag, he picked up the disruptor and went into the room where Alex was being held. Alex could see in his eyes that he was going to kill her. "I figured it out. You never had my husband, did you? And my son isn't coming here either, is he? Ever heard of the word Imzadi?"
The man paused for a moment, recognizing the word. Suddenly it clicked. The man cursed under his breath, "I guess I should have done my homework. But it really doesn't matter anymore. I wanted you to suffer and have to live with the knowledge that your actions killed my son but that's not gonna happen now. I only have one choice." He raised his disruptor to shoot her."
Lee spotted the man who had raised his disruptor at Alex, he didn't even hesitate or say a word he just threw the d'ktahng and watched it strike the man in the hand that help the disruptor.
The man dropped the disruptor and grabbed his hand which was beginning to bleed profusely. He winced in pain as he pulled the knife out of his hand.
Lee drew his phaser and aimed at the guy while the Klingons pointed their disruptors."It's over you peta'Q!"
Still holding the knife, he turned to face Lee, "It's over for me but your wife will always remember that she was responsible for my son's death." With that, he lunged at Lee with the knife pointed outward.
Lee fired his phaser at the man as the Klingons also fired their disruptors hitting the man in the chest, effectively killing him.
Alex gasped at what happened. She couldn't believe that he did what he did. Alex got up and ran into Lee's arms.
Lee dropped his phaser to the ground as he put his arms around Alex and picked her up off the ground holding her close.
The Klingons just stood there looking away but keeping watch for any more trouble.
