Personal Log, Lieutenant Anandra Delair, Stardate -current-

It's been about five days since I settled in on Starbase 400 and I'm only just getting around to a personal log? Good thing I am more punctual on duty shifts. What's that old Earth adage? 'Better late than never'? I like that one.

I have to admit, I had strong feelings of disappointment when I found out that Starfleet had reassigned me to a deep space mission. I immediately imagined isolation, stuffy bulkheads, and unyielding boredom. On the contrary, I find myself marveling at the place at every turn, looking forward to duty shifts as much as my days off - most of the latter I spend exploring the massive base and it's array of amenities. I meet a lot of fascinating people here as well and it seems I will have no problem making friends. I have the next two days off, I am looking forward to making the best of them.

I can't ignore a sense that big things are in store for me - somehow, I cannot explain it, but I feel certain that this will be an incredible experience for me in some way. The excitement is very powerful right now. I hope it never wears off.

END LOG
