The shadows in my dreams

The dreams have intensified.
I'm back on the Renegade. This time, instead of heading out with the other rescue crews, I'm on the bridge. I can see those other starships blow up as the enemy attacks. I can feel the fear on the bridge as we vainly attempt to engage the enemy. But we have to. It's the only way the rescue runabouts and ships can make it out of harms way.
My commanding officer...the look on his face...like it's him but it's not him.
Shots hit our hull. We're starting to take more damage than we can sustain. The end is near. But those ships have escaped, we can die with honor.
Darkness...something envelopes us...so dark...
Commander Pisotskaya turns to me, his face covered in what I can only describe as oozing tar. "O'Reily!" he screams at me. "O'REILY!"
And I wake up shaking.
Something about these dreams seem...so real. And the feeling I have when I wake up, like something bad is about to happen. Out there, in the darkness of the stars...a shadow that as impossible as it may seem, I somehow know quite well. And it scares me like nothing ever has.
