Mission: Mission 86 - Discovery
Location: USS Essex-Astrometrics
Timeline: After 'Approaching Socola Major'

L'Verrem and Solomon entered the Astrometrics room. Though primarily used for astronomical studies, its holographic projection capabilities has a wide array of other uses. They went immediately to the row control panels in front of the projection area. L'Verrem commanded the computer to project an image of the planet they now orbited, and overlay the tetryon source. The computer diligently executed his commands and instantly, the world materialized in front of them, seemingly as real and solid as everything else in the room. The Caitian science officer carefully observed the world as it slowly turned, his ears and whiskers pointed toward the image in contemplation. Soon, a small, bright blue dot appeared on top of one of the major continents. He trilled in satisfaction with the projection.
He pointed at the dot and said, "That is the tetryon source, Lt. Jack Solomon."

Jack took note of the position of the location of the tetryon source and where it was on the third planet. He pulled up the schematics of a Delta Class Runabout and offered a theory. "What if we used a Cloaked Runabout to send a small team to investigate it? If the cloak were inverted on itself and the power output of the runabout put right down, that could offer a steady cautious approach that wont attract attention?" He explained.

L'Verrem folded his arms and bowed his head slightly in thought for a few moments, his tail suddenly swishing back and forth rapidly. When he looked back up at Solo,on, his tail stopped its agitated motion, and calmed again.
"It is possible. However, the cloak would have to operate very close to a field harmonic resonance. If resonance was achieved, it would..."
He paused for a moment to find the right human term.
"Burn up...the cloak field generator. It is a risk, but the best chance we would have at remaining undetected."

Jack considered the options and had a further think about trying to mask the energy of the runabout when it made the trip. "I could install several extra energy dampeners on the runabout to mask a cloak running at full power. If its done right, none of the sensors planetside would pick up the energy anomaly caused by it. That way the power usage issue is taken out of the equation and no one would be detected," he offered.

L'Verrem nodded and trilled.
"I believe that will be sufficient, Lt. Jack Solomon. Just so long as the Runabout is landed in a place where the local inhabitants would not accidentally discover it. We should brief the Admirals," L'Verrem stated.

Jack nodded in agreement as he looked on the astrometrics projection. About a kilometre away was a secluded wooded area from the source. He enhanced it on the projection. "We could put the Runabout down here, that way it would be out of sight and still be within transporter range if the team needs a speedy exit," Jack added as he downloaded the data to a PADD. "Lets go see the Admiralty," he said once it was finished.

L'Verrem nodded his head and purred in agreement.
