Mission:
Mission 86 - Discovery
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2, 0730 hours
ON:
K'Wor had just come on duty in Ops when he heard the Station's perimeter sensors beep.
"Uh, Archer, are you expecting a ship to dock at the station...make that two ships...anytime soon?" K'Wor asked.
"Not under 0945, the USS Israel." Archer eyed the sensor reading from his position too. Sure enough, there was an Excalibur class ship with an escorting Prometheus class ship dropping out of slipstream within Starbase 400's inner marker. After a few moments, the comm beeped too.
Over the comm, a smooth steady voice, almost Vulcanly dry sounding spoke over the comm, "Starbase 400, this is the USS Agincourt and USS Olympia, requesting permission to orbit Starbase 400 and beam over VIPs."
K'Wor and Archer shared a glance, not only was most of the acting Senior Staff not on duty yet, but if these VIPs were the expected members of the Federation Security Council, they were early.
K'Wor tapped the Station's intercom, "Admiral Sevlek, Commander Roebuck report to Ops, please."
Archer then tapped the comm to reply to the approaching ships, "Starbase 400 to Agincourt and Olympia, permission granted to enter a standard parking orbit of the Station, please stand by for beaming coordinates."
Both men shared a look again, while waiting on Sevlek to arrive.
Sevlek was in the middle of a situation report when the call came in, he tapped his combadge and responded, "Acknowledged." He then looked to the group of officers he was speaking with, "Captain Zandusky will finish this briefing and issue orders." The he looked to his Marine Attache, the one who had turned down many commands and other postings to remain with the Vulcan, "Colonel Andrenicus, with me."
The Marine nodded as both men made their way to Ops. After the short trip in the turbolift, Sevlek stepped out into Ops, noticing K'Wor, "Ensign, status report."
“Uh, Admiral. Two Federation ships have dropped out of slipstream, within the Station’s inner marker. They identify themselves at the USS Agincourt and USS Olympia and request permission to beam over VIPs.” K’Wor reported.
At the same moment, Roebuck stepped out of the turbolift, having heard the last of the report he spoke up, “USS Agincourt and USS Olympia? I thought the Councilmembers were coming to the Station aboard the USS Federation.” He gave Sevlek a puzzled look.
K’Wor rechecked the sensors, “I’m not picking up any additional ships in the area, but that is the vessel I noted that was bringing the Councilmembers during the meeting.”
Sevlek nodded, "The U.S.S. Federation is the ship bringing the Council members to the station." A moment of thought, "It is likely the Federation is awaiting a signal from the Agincourt and Olympia before arriving. The primary staff and security will likely evaluate the station and then signal for the other ship to arrive."
Sevlek turned to K'Wor, "Signal the ships and grant them permission to dock or orbit and begin the transfer of any necessary personnel and equipment."
K’Wor nodded, then tapped the comm, “Starbase 400 to Agincourt and Olympia, we’re sending you transporter coordinates now.”
M'Kota was at Tactical Two keeping an eye on everything but kept quiet until someone gave her orders.
“Transporting now.” Came the reply over the comm. A moment later, three Security Officers, along with a Captain, and a Lieutenant beamed into Ops. They looked around then walked toward Sevlek and Roebuck.
“I’m Captain T’sen, I will inspect your facility’s preparations.”
Lance Corporals Smith and Tigert were previously thinking their shift standing guard at Ops was going to be boring. They were told by their Sergeant that they were to be unobtrusive unless action on their part was needed. They glanced at each other as they observed both the conversation, and the beam in of the security officers. Tigert tapped his combadge...
Carly had showered and dressed and was now on her way to Ops, where she had found out Acting Ensign K'Wor was located. She had also found out he was the Acting CSTO at this time, so it was to him she had to report for duty. As she walked into Ops she saw the telltale blue of transporter beams and stood quietly to one side watching as the officer introduced himself and she wondered what she had just walked in on.
K’Wor caught the turbolift doors open out the corner of his eyes, and he saw the new Security Officer step out. He paused a moment and smiled, noting her blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. He took a breath, then focused back on the new people in Ops.
Sevlek nodded, "Welcome aboard Starbase 400, Captain T'Sen." Sevlek noticed the officer in Ops trying to be unobtrusive in their observation of the discussion going on. "Facilities have been established for you and your personnel near the VIP quarters. You will be escorted to your quarters, after which you will be able to begin your inspection. You will contact the senior members of each department you intend to inspect before inspecting their department and then they will accompany for the inspection."
Carly now knew exactly what she had walked in on, she had seen Captain T'Sen before, though had never actually met him in person. She was wishing she had headed for the main security office instead and waited there for orders, she didn't like coming to the attention of senior officers too often and especially not to the notice of Admirals or those such as Captain T'Sen.
Roebuck waited for T’Sen to acknowledge the Admiral, which he finally did with a nod, before leading him toward the turbolift. “Captain, if you and your personnel will follow me. M’Kota, you’re with us.”
T’Sen cocked his head to the side as he raised an eyebrow, “I’m well aware of the way to the VIP level, Lieutenant Commander.”
Roebuck narrowed his eyes, even though T’sen’s Vulcan coldness, he could hear the sarcasm…but he didn’t reply, this time.
K’Wor waited for T’Sen, Roebuck, and the others to enter the turbolift, then walked over to the new Security Officer. “Ensign, I’m Acting-Ensign K’Wor, the Acting Chief of Station Security. Welcome aboard.” He couldn’t help but to smile again.
Carly looked up at the man in-front of her, he was almost a full foot taller than her and from what she could see well built and toned. "Thank you Sir, I am Ensign Carly Hughes, pleased to meet you. I look forwards to the challenge of serving on a station." she stated with a slightly nervous smile.
K’Wor just looked into Carly’s eyes for a moment, then shyly looked away, “Um, take Tactical Two, keep an eye out for any approaching vessels please.”

Medical Bay
Romans made his final checks of the medical bay that he had assigned for the special VIPS. He noted the 2 security personnel standing near the medication cabinets, and near the central sterile supply closet. He walked over to the nearest control panel on the wall and brought up the staffing report. He made a few switches of personnel, but held out the majority of what the Doctor had done. He nodded his head at the two guards and walked out of sickbay, he needed to get back to his office.
`Marine Country`
Meanwhile in "Marine Country", Lieutenant Colonel Jackson was well into his day. After physical training, he cleaned up, and changed into his battle dress uniform, reflecting the alert status of First Division. Checking the status boards in the Marine CP, he could see that the Marine roving patrols, and sentry postings commenced at 0001 hrs as he instructed. He could also see that the QRF was already on passive standby. So far, things were going like clock work as far as the Marines were concerned.
T'Lyn was working as she normally does and looked at the Colonel, "Everything seems to be in order sir," She stated looking blankly at him.
Jax still had to get used to Vulcans. He saw them as very efficient at what they did, but to him, they always seemed hung over with that semi monotone they seemed to have every time they spoke. "Very good Major."
Meanwhile in one of the many marine staging areas, Gunnery Sergeant Aquila was mostly suited up along with the rest of the QRF. Giaus wasn't exactly used to wearing MIPA (Marine Individual Protective Armor), but in the event that the QRF was actually needed, it would be an assault type scenario. The heavy weapons remained in their respective lockers since there was no need to blasts holes through the outer bulkhead of the station. The whole QRF would be packing light as far as weapons for this duty, ranging from Phaser Compression Rifles, up to the Mk3 variant phaser pulse rifles. Frags rounded off their mission package. Compared to their last few assignments, the team had no complaints handling what would normally be a task for the regular infantry. B team would be relieved by A team after their twelve hour shift in the staging area. Aquila's thoughts got interrupted by his combadge...
"Jackson to Aquiila, you bored yet?"
It was always a pleasure to hear from his old friend, "You know I am. Are you bored shining a chair with your ass yet?"
Jackson replied, "You know I am. Let's just get through this battle without upsetting the brass. "
"No promises."
Since they were on standby, their activities included studying the layout of the star base, weapons checks, and playing cards. Always listening for the call.
After speaking to Aquila, Jackson was preparing to inspect the various guard posts when he got a call from one of the Division's Company Commanders. "Sir, the advanced security team just beamed aboard." After giving the Captain acknowledgement, he tapped his combadge, "Attention all division elements. Advanced party arrived. Stand to."
He then looked at T'Lyn, "I am heading for Ops. "
He then stepped out.
T'Lyn just nodded and got to work at what she was working on and keeping an eye on things while he was in Ops.
On his way to Ops, Jackson was informed that the advanced party already left Ops, and was at the VIP Level. Cursing to himself, he decided to return to Marine country to make sure all was in order should these aspiring micro managers decided to pay them a visit. As long as his sentries were on station, he would know where they were. By now, every marine on the station knew that things were beginning to roll.
VIP Level
When the turbolift stopped and the doors opened, Roebuck stepped out first and motioned toward T’Sen and his Staff to follow him to the left down the corridor. Upon exiting the lift, the first thing T’Sen saw was a Gorn and a Krazzle in Marine uniforms and a Jem’Hadar all standing guard in the corridor.
“What are, they, doing here?” T’Sen coldly asked.
“Sergeants Agtx and Taz, and First Ramata’tar are currently on security duty, they are all well trained and highly decorated members of the crew.” Roebuck replied.
“They are also members of species that the Federation does not have very good relations with.” T’Sen replied, “I would prefer Vulcan or other Federation species, even Human Security Personnel, to be assigned here”.
Roebuck turned to face the slightly taller Vulcan, “With all due respect, these men are some of the best, and I trust them with my life. You have my word they will protect the Councilmembers and other VIPs.”
T’Sen eyed Roebuck for a moment before replying, “Perhaps, but I do not know them or trust them. I will station several of my Security Officers with them, and outside each of the Councilmembers’ Quarters. As you Humans say, just in case.”
Roebuck had to bite his lip not to say what he was really thinking. After a moment, he looked at M’Kota, “sogh, I’m going to station you here as well. Anyone that steps off that turbolift, even Admiral Sevlek and myself, will be required to submit to a retina scan before being allowed to access this deck…that goes for all the Councilmembers, their Staff’s, and the Captain here. If anyone refuses, escort them back into the turbolift, if they give you trouble arrest them and contact Ops. Understood?”
"Understood Sir," M'Kota stated as she stood at attention on guard making sure no one gets passed her. She looked around and surveying her surroundings making sure she knew where every access tube was and any other way of entering this deck was secured.
Roebuck looked back at T’Sen, then before the Vulcan could reply, Roebuck re-entered the turbolift to return to Ops. As he did, T’Sen motioned to three of his Security Officers to take positions in the corridor too while the Vulcan Captain proceeded checking out each of the VIP Quarters and meeting room at the end of the corridor.
