Mission:
Mission 86 - Discovery
Location: Briefing Room
Timeline: MD1 1145 hrs, Following 'Briefing aboard SB400'
ON:
Following the Staff meeting, everyone stood up as the Admiral walked out of the room. Jackson looked at Major T'Lyn. "Major T'Lyn. I will need you to designate one company to assign the roving patrols in the high traffic areas, and another company to post sentries at all Marine sensitive areas in addition to the normal sentry posts, and assign sentries at the entrances of Ops, CiC, All armories, Docking Bays, auxiliary craft bays, and reactor rooms. I would also like to touch base with Security , so that we can coordinate with them. If we find any holes in this extra coverage, we can work with them to plug the holes. As of now, First Division is on Condition 3 until further notice."
She looked at him, "Understood," T'Lyn replied looking at him but didn't say anything else at that particular time.
"Come with me." Jackson then approached the nearest Security Officer, Ensign K'Wor.
"Excuse me Ensign. Do you know who the acting Chief Security Officer is?"
K’Wor cleared his throat, “I am Major” he replied, “Acting-Ensign K’Wor.”
Jackson looked at the young acting ensign. He detected a little discomfort in the young man. "Relax Acting-Ensign. I guess it is good that I ran into you. Please to meet you. I am Lieutenant Colonel Jackson, First Division XO. "
He handed K'Wor the PADD in his hand, "I want us to be on the same sheet of music regarding station security for this VIP visit. Here is a list of the areas Marines would normally be posted for occasions like this. I know Security will have their postings as well. If there are any gaps, or other areas of concern, I would like to coordinate with you to plug them up. Together, we can assure that things go well."
"Nice to meet you Major." K'Wor looked at the PADD, he wasn't sure why he was feeling nervous, he'd served as Chief Security on the Yorktown and Avenger before...but this was different.
"This is a lot of ground to cover, may I suggest we split the work. Marines on odd numbered decks, Security on even...except for Ops and Marine Country of course." This was something he'd seen his father order a few times before, so he thought it was a good idea of course.
Jackson was impressed by this Acting Ensign's proposal. This lad was going to go far. "That is an excellent idea. Major T'Lyn, please note that on your deployments. However, we will still maintain our roving patrols in heavy traffic areas as ordered."
She just nodded and stood there as she looked at both of the officers.
"Ensign, I also have one more concern. I am not exactly sure as to why the Admiral did not mention maintaining a Quick Reaction Force in his orders. Perhaps just a minor oversight. I will have a QRF on constant standby, regardless. Call it an "upgrade" to the orders." Jax observed that the Ensign was starting to relax a little.
"Understood, any help in this situation will be a good thing." K'Wor replied.
"Major T'Lyn, I will take care of the QRF. Now, are their any questions from either one of you?"
"No sir," came her reply.
"No Major." K'Wor replied.
"Very good. I guess it is time to get cracking," Jax said as he dismissed them. He had a very good clue who he was going to assign QRF. A sigh of inner relief came over him, once he knew that the proper measures would be taken during this visit.
