Chief Medical Officer

Lieutenant Siaxx Dvald
Medical Officer

***** Infirmary - Starbase 400 *****

Lieutenant Siaxx Dvald raised an eyebrow as she held the PADD that one of the nurses had handed her. "Nice work Ciara." she turned to the human woman whom she knew was not from Earth. "Alright... looks like we're ready for anything that could come from the wedding and the reception." Siaxx was not going to the wedding but she knew that Commander Brislan was.

She turned as she walked over to where she knew the Commander would be brooding over paperwork and as sure as taxed and death, there she found the handsome Sicilian woman.

"Doctor... We're ready for the usual after wedding party stuff to flood our way." the Bolian smiled at the larger human woman as she handed the other doctor the PADD. "all set."

Tressa smiled, leaning back in her chair and stretching. Her nephew was still sleeping on the couch across from her; she had left Kaylee with Racheal.

"I can't remember a gathering larger than this one, not since I've been here. There was an engagement party about a year ago... as I recall there was an especially tall young Klingon who managed to vomit in four separate examination rooms," she said with a chuckle. "What a mess! We'd get him settled then boom, he was somewhere else tossing his supper." She shook her head at the thought. "Of course we weren't laughing then!"

Siaxx's eyes twinkled at the memory. "Oh yes... I had to threaten him and he wanted to take me to bed if you'll recall." she shook her head. "No matter what I did... it only made him want me even more until he tried forcing the issue...." she sighed. "So I figured I'd try a Klingon approach... and earned me two broken bones but some of the best sex I ever had.."

Tressa laughed again, peeking over to the couch to make sure Xavier was still asleep. He was.

"He just didn't want the party to end, did he?" the doctor said. "Good grief, I hope we don't have another night like that!"

Siaxx smiled as she watched Tressa. "How is he?" she inquired softly as she recalled that night with that particular Klingon fondly, it was never something she hid from. "When was the last time you had a boyfriend Tressa?" she inquired, it might have been too bold for her to inquire but she was just making conversation.

"Your friend is fine, hasn't had so much as a cough since that night. As for your other question, well," the doctor said with a smile, "I'm afraid you'd have to pull up a calendar."

"No... I mean your little guy." she indicated Xavier. "Clearly he wanted to hang out with his mom." she knew the story of how Tressa was raising her brothers children alone but as far as she was concerned, Tressa was their mother and that was how she treated Xavier, like a possible future medical officer. "Its nice that he's here.... I seldom get to see this side of your personality."

"Behaving himself at the wedding took a lot out of him," Tressa said with a smile. "I was so terrified when they came to me, I had never even met them before my brother died. I hadn't ever managed to keep a potted plant alive then all of a sudden Aiden and his wife were gone and the kids..." she stopped for a moment as the memory flowed back. "It took some time for us to get to know each other. I didn't really love them before I knew them, they were just pictures and vids, but I fell in love with them." Tressa smiled again as she watched her sleeping nephew. "I can't imagine my life without them. They've made me... me."

Siaxx smiled broadly at her friend and Commanding Officer. "That's great to hear... there are stories of aunts and uncles who take in children but never bond with them. I find such things mystifying." the Bolian commented with a smile. "But I see how he brings out the mother in you.... he might not be your flesh and blood Tressa but... I don't think that matters to you..."

"He's a good boy, they're both such good children. My little family, who'd have thought?" she shook her head in disbelief. "I think we take care of each other."

"They do have abilities which need to be trained and honed." Siaxx looked at Tressa. "But I think Rachael would be ale to help.. Khast knows she enjoys spending time with Xavier and Kaylee." she grinned at the other woman. "You need to find yourself a man, girl.."

"Oh do I?" Tressa said, rolling her eyes. "Sure, I'm what every man wants; a woman with two telepathic children who works all the time. I'll assign you to manage the line of men outside my door, don't let them all in at once Siaxx..."

Siaxx chuckled softly. "I'll let them in one at a time.." she responded evenly. "So you have demands that a prospective man must meet." she shrugged. "two telepathic children who are also extremely intelligent. A plus for you." she eyed the other woman. "You need to get out more...find time for you.."

Xavier sighed softly in his sleep, catching the attention of both women. Tressa watched him for a long moment before turning to her colleague. "I love my life, Siaxx. It's crazy and wierd but it's mine and I love it. I have everything I need."

Siaxx looked from Tressa to Xavier. "I can tell." she smiled at the other woman. "But there is nothing wrong with getting out more Tressa..."

"Okay, I give up," the Sicilian woman said, putting her hands up in surrender. "How about you and I get a drink in the bar of your choice, just as soon as the shift is over and the kids are at the sitters," she said. "A girl's night out would be nice, haven't had one of those in forever either."

"Sounds wonderful to me." Siaxx grinned at her friend. "See how easy it was?" she chuckled softly. "All work and no play makes me dull company."
