Mission: Mission 85 - Q-uality Time Aboard Starbase 400
Location: Vice Admiral T'Lar's Office
Timeline: current

Deela had gotten word that Jack Solomon had arrived back on SB400. She was happy to hear that he was back.

"Vice Admiral T'Lar to Lieutenant JG Jack Solomon. Please see me in my office at your convenience."

Jack looked up out of habit as he heard the Admirals call through his combadge. He smiled, realizing it had been some time since he'd spoken to her.

"On my way, Admiral," he replied. Jack straightened his uniform after responding. He made his way out of his now organised quarters and headed to the Admiral's Office. Since being assigned to SB400, Jack had not had the opportunity to catch up with other. This presented an ideal chance.

He arrived at her office, pressing the door chime.

"Come in." Deela was all smiles.

As the doors opened, Jack stepped into the Admirals office and smiled as she stood up to greet him. Jack stepped up to her.

"Admiral, its good to see you again. I hope you've been well. I'm glad to be serving with you again," he said.

She pointed him to the chair to sit, "I am too. How are you doing?"

Jack sat down in the chair offered and relaxed. It had been a good few years since he'd seen her and a lot had happened.

"Well, I've been better to be honest. I've just gotten back from Earth and finalizing my family's affairs. I'm the last of my family now after the transport accident a few months ago. So I'm back home now hoping things will now get better," he explained.

"I heard about your family. I am so sorry for your loss." She leaned back, "I have found that time may not heal all wounds but it helps ease the pain." In the back of her mind, she was thinking about all of the losses she had dealt with and now, she may have lost another mate. She shuddered at the thought. But like a good Vulcan, it was easy for her to hide it. Her dad would be proud, well, all most. "You've come back at a great time. There are going to be two Klingon weddings here at the base. One of them is Captain Harrison. She was a Security officer on the Essex way back when she had just graduated from the academy. Her mother and I served together on the Essex. In fact, she was the first member of my crew."

Jack smiled at the thought of two Klingon weddings. One was enough to deal with!

"That's good news and should be a lot of fun, I think. Talking of the Essex, how is she? Last I remember she was a Sovereign Class," he inquired.

"She was destroyed. She is now an Intrepid class...USS Essex-173-B in which I like it much better than the Sovereign but don't get me wrong, I miss her, just not the class. She's been upgraded as well. If you have the time, go ahead and tale a tour of her. You'll be impressed."

"Nice Class! I like the sound of that, maybe her esteemed CO could assist me in doing that sometime," Jack offered. He was a fan of the Intrepid Class and had studied the specs diligently. He was considered an expert on Intrepid and Defiant Class Starships back at Starfleet Operations on Earth.

"Of course, if your ever looking for a Chief Ops again, I'm happy to offer my services. Speaking of catch up and all, hows things with you? I'm rambling away here like an idiot," he said, realizing he was dominating the conversation.

"I am doing okay. My husband is off writing with a popular writer. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for him so I told him to go. But...I don't know...maybe I am just being paranoid." She changed the subject, "The kids are getting bigger. I think Raivyn was just a baby when you left."

"Wow, kids grow up so fast nowadays, its amazing how time flies with them. I remember Raivyn being so young," he answered. But he had also noticed her thoughts wander about her husband's whereabouts and it was something he hadn't seen in Deela before.

"Is everything ok? You seem a bit distracted with where your husband is," he asked. He didn't like seeing his only friend on board looking so absent.

"Have you ever had a feeling in your gut that something bad might have happened? I have left numerous subspace messages and none of them have been answered. The last time Vincent talked to me was last week. It has been now 4 days since I have heard from him. This is not like Vincent. He would tell me if he was going to be in a place that he cannot be reached. Unfortunately, Starfleet doesn't act on a gut feeling." Deela thought about her father, the typical Vulcan. If she had told him that she had a gut feeling, he would tell her how illogical she was being.

Jack could see that this was of concern to her, knowing if her husband was alive and well or if something had happened to him. He wanted to help her out, knowing any piece of information would help.

"I have an idea. Working at Starfleet Operations for the past several years has gotten me a few favours owed to me from others there. Maybe I could call one in to see whats happening with him?" Jack offered.

"I have some connections myself but I have not used them as of yet. Since we are between missions, go ahead and see what you can find out and I will do the same. I am going to contact Starfleet and see if they also can look into the matter as well. Vincent is not a Starfleet officer so they may drag the ball on it. Maybe between all of us, we can find him."

Jack nodded in agreement with her. Although she was his former CO, she was also his friend and she deserved to know what was happening with Vincent. "I'll go and make some calls, I have a few hours left before reporting for duty," he explained.

"Is there anything else I can do to help?" He asked, knowing this was difficult, although he was happy to reconnect with one friend. Jack still missed the crew of the Wildcat also from his earlier service. He stood up to leave the office.
