A New Diplomatic Officer

Location: Admiral Bremer's Officer, Starbase 400
Timeline: Following 'Position Promotion'

ON:

Bremer and T'Lar where still in his Office following their meeting with Lokran and Baratan.

"Another new crew member came aboard when Ensign Nechayev arrived," He looked at another PADD, "Lieutenant JG William Keikeya Jr, the new Assistant Chief Diplomatic Officer. I've asked General Dartt and Lieutenant Keikeya to join us."

Deela flashed a smile, "Good. What is that saying? The more, the merrier?"


Dartt sighed, "Will this day ever end?" she asked herself as she made her way to the turbo lift. Straightening out her uniform, "Ops," she said as she wondered what this meeting was about. When the turbo lift came to a stop and the doors opened she walked off and headed to Mike's office.

She ran the door chime as she waited.

Lieutenant (JG) William "Billy" Keikeya Jr. finished settling into his new quarters on Starbase 400. He had just arrived a few hours ago and had to get the Quartermaster stuff handled right away. But now it was finally time to report in, he had a meeting with the CO, XO and his new Chief. He left his quarters and headed for the nearest turbolift. Once inside he ordered, "Ops."

Once he arrived on the Ops deck he looked around and asked the first person he saw, "CO's Office?"

"Over there," one of the Operations Officers pointed to the office door.

"Thank you," Billy replied as he went to the door and pressed the door chime and waited for permission to enter.

"Enter" Bremer called out as the door chimed again. He stood as the new Officer walked in.

"Welcome aboard Starbase 400, I'm Admiral Mike K'Wor Bremer, this is our Executive Officer Vice Admiral Deela T'Lar and our Chief Diplomatic Officer Brigadier General Jewel Dartt. Please, have a seat." He motioned to the empty chair.

Deela acknowledged him with her usual nod.

"Nice to meet you, Lieutenant." Jewel stated with a smile as she held out her hand to greet him.

"Thank you, Sir and Ma'ams," Billy replied as he took the offered seat. He smiled to his new Chief, "Nice to meet you too, General."

Mike took his seat, sizing up the new Officer. "What was your previous assignment Lieutenant?"

"Maintaining the peace on Solais V. After Riva helped end their civil war nearly 30 years ago, we've kept a Diplomatic Staff on planet to maintain the peace in their political meetings. They're a... simple people and become forgetful sometimes. If they get into a heated argument, it could potentially reignite the civil war. Starfleet will keep Ambassadors and Diplomatic Officers there for several generations until hopefully the idea of peace becomes second nature for them. It was good 'hands on' training, Sir," Billy replied.

Mike nodded, “Not an easy job, but neither is this one. I’m sure you’ve read about the Krazzle and C’Hakilian war and peace treaty signed recently, as well as the ongoing tensions between the Federation/Klingon Alliance and Cardassians with the Typhon Pact. General Dartt can bring you up to speed as needed. All of this has the potential to blow up into a galactic war…or be the Federation’s fined hour if we can secure peace and prevent war.”

Jewel just nodded as she listened to both of them, she needed to learn what this officer was about.

"Yes Sir, read up about it on my way here. Looks like the Diplomatic Staff will have it's hands full at this posting," Billy replied optimistically and looking forward to the challenge.

"Great." Mike replied, "Then I'll let you get settled in. Welcome aboard Starbase 400."
