Pepper IV

Entering orbit of Pepper IV The Starship Saratoga was completing the final leg of its mission early, Deep Space Six on the surface of Pepper IV. The USS Vanguard was also to be linking up with The Saratoga in order to prepare better for an inevitable confrontation with them.

Commander James Winter came out of his ready room. "Standard Orbit."

"Standard Orbit, Aye." Brandy said. Winter kept walking to the tactical map. David Lee and Thorin, the first officer were reviewing information.

"Ensign K'Wor, open a channel to the station."

He received a nod from K'Wor that a communications link had been established. "Deep Space Six, this is Saratoga, James Winter in command."

There was silence on the other end.

Winter looked down towards the operations console at Nick Archer, "Lieutenant Archer, Are they receiving us?"

"Not receiving anything sir, its like our scans and hails are being reflected back."

"Sir." Thorin said, "l Recommend Yellow Alert."

James thought it over. The Silence at the base was at best damning at worse a fear to be reckoned with. He began walking towards the command area. "Make it Happen Ensign." He then looked at Ragen, "Put us in geosynchronous orbit above the base." Winter took his command chair and sat down. "Ensign Lee, begin a plot of all military units in the solar system, friendly or otherwise, Mr. K'Wor, send a coded transmission to your father inform him of the silence from DS6 and we await further instructions, dispatch same message to Captain Weatherlight."

The Tholians could be making their move.

K`Wor nodded and sent the message then returned to scanning the area. A few moments later a brief reply came, "Commander, Starbase 400 reports the Vanguard is already in route. It also instructs us to defend the system, but not to take provocative action." He paused a moment, "Commander, request permission to lead an away team to the surface to verify the situation down there."

"Sir." Thorin said as he was the first officer.

"Mr. Thorin, and Mr. Archer will accompany you, Mr. Thorin is in command of the away Team Ensign. Mr. Lee will assume tactical duties until your return. Keep in contact regular intervals."

K`Wor looked over at Thorin, the back to Winter, "Yes sir."

The Acting-Ensign looked over at Lee, then logged out of the Tactical Station and headed for the turbolift.

Before they reached the door Lee spoke, "Sir, We've received Emergency Recall Orders from Admiral Bremer."

"What does it say?" Winter asked as Thorin, Archer, and K'wor stopped in their tracks.

"The USS Hamburg, a Miranda-class Scout ship has been dispatched to investigate Deep Space Six, our mission installing the Tachyon Detection Grid has been suspended and we've been ordered to an emergency return to SB 400."

"Location of the Hamburg?"

"She's four hours out." Lee said.

"The Vanguard?"

"She's turned and racing back to 400."

K'Wor spoke up, "The station could be under-attack sir."

Winter thought it over, "Ensign Ragan, break orbit, plot a course for Starbase 400 maximum warp." Lee went back to the intelligence station and K'Wor returned to his station. "Go to Yellow Alert, advise the base we are on our way."
