Jellico Continues to Play His Hand

Janice stood casually watching the various members of the crew, and making
mental observations of how they dealt with pressure she hated feeling like a
lame duck.

“Ma’am he have an incoming high priority message from the Excalibur.â€

“ What the Hell?†She heard Captain K’temoc say out loud.
.

“ On Screen...†She said standing from her chair.


The man that appeared on the screen said, “This is Captain Kyle Dutour aboard
the Federation starship Excalibur calling USS Pegasus. I am under orders
from Starfleet’s Judge Advocate General Office to intercept you.
Prepare to be boarded.†The man was assigned to JAG, but working
directly for Jellico.

ҠCaptain this is Lt. General Janice Bremer, we will allow you transport
to aboard, but hold yourself in readiness because this
ship is under the command of Admiral Bremer, who will want a full
explanation of this. General Bremer out.†She replied, her arms folded and
the nodded toward the communications officers for her to end the
conversation.

“What do you think they want?†K’temoc was not an officer who played games.

“Oh, its just some young, upstart Captain from JAG who wants to board,
and make a big name for himself by serving your brother and me a worthless
summons to appear in front of a waste of time stupid committee on something
like ball pits on Galaxy class starships, or what color the stripes on
the next run of shuttles should be painted, or some such nonsense....â€
Janice replied to him, more annoyed by the seconds at this upstart.

“Well he is going to get to serve his summons alright. Mr. Winter you have
the bridge.†K’temoc said to his sister in law , and then walked back to
the lift with Janice. “ Have a security team meet us in the transporter room
and prepare an appropriate reception for our guests. “




The security team, Janice and K’temoc all stood impatiently waiting for the
arrival of Captain Dutour.
“ The Excalibur is ready to transport sir.†The chief said solemnly to
K’temoc, who replied simply.
“Then beam them aboard chief. “

Captain Dutour’s party materialized on the transporter pad, four people in
total, as they all looked on. Captain Dutour, as soon as he was
rematerialized, stepped forward. “Captain Bremer, sir, I apologize for the
intrusion on your mission. Permission to come aboard.â€

“Granted,†K’temoc replied. He wondered what he hell JAG wanted...

He stepped up to the Captain and handed him a PADD. “Unfortunately, I wish I
could meet your family under better circumstances. By order of the
Starfleet JAG Office and signed by the Judge Advocate General of Starfleet,
Admiral T’Nura, I am here to place Lieutenant General Janice Bremer under
arrest, as per section 147 of the Federation Interstellar Law.†Dutour
motioned to his party and two of them moved toward Janice to place her under
arrest.

“Like hell you are “ K’temoc said moving toward the man , and the security
team moved around the General . “ You have a lot of nerve coming on board
this ship, and trying to arrest General Bremer, with out
even telling her what the charges are.â€

Janice sighed, if K’temoc tried to fight these JAG officers, this was not
going to end well.
“Captain Dutour may I have word with Captain Bremer?â€

Dutour shook his head. “I am sorry, Captain and ma’am, but my orders are
clear in this situation to not allow General Bremer to talk to anyone as the
warrant has been carried out,†he said. “The charges are three counts of
high treason to the Federation, five counts of murder in the first degree of
fellow Starfleet officers and twenty-seven counts of the attempted murders
of Starfleet officers.â€

Janice started to speak, but K’temoc held his hand up to silence her, she
could tell that he was growing angrier by the second. “ Look Captain if this
not trumped up BS, like I think it is, then Lt. General Bremer will be
confined to quarters, and will surrender herself to JAG when the Admiral
returns.â€

Captain Dutour sighed. “Sir, interference with our execution of this warrant
can be construed as obstruction of justice,†he said directly. “I have
orders to take General Bremer directly to Earth personally under lockdown,
as one of the charges of high treason involves illegal access of ship’s
systems and avoidance of security protocols to access the communications
array. I understand that you are protective of your family, Captain, but...
with all due respect, the orders come from above me and even Admiral
Bremer.†He paused for a moment, then said, “If you’d like, Fleet Admiral
Jellico is waiting for your hail and can discuss the situation. In the
meantime, I have a warrant to execute.â€

Janice blinked. “Captain it might be better if I surrendered, but “ She
added “ I will do so willingly under one condition, that is that you give me
30 seconds in this room to speak to Captain l Bremer, otherwise.†She
added “ You are going to have more than obstruction, your going to have a
big fight on your hands, Captain.â€

“Thirty seconds,†Dutour allowed. “After you’ve been restrained, ma’am.â€

Janice nodded and moved forward so that the security officers could restrain
her. She watched K’temoc step aside unwillingly, but knowing nothing could
be served from a fight. Jellico had played his hand well.

One of the officers that accompanied Dutour, a taller man with black hair
and facial ridges, stepped forward and spoke quietly. “Please place your
hands behind your back, General,†he said, taking out the magnetic restraint
system. He continued to read through her rights to remain silent and those
governing the treatment of prisoners. “Do you understand these rights?†he
asked at the end.

Before putting her hands behind her back, Janice reached inside her boot,
and offered K’temoc the dagger she kept stowed there handle first, as she
bent down she heard phasers all around click at the ready, but she had no
intention of putting up any kind of resistance at this point. When the
K’temoc had taken the dagger, “It was an anniversary present from the
Admiral, see that he gets it.†He nodded, Janice put her hands behind her
back,
“ I understand my rights.â€

“ Lt. General Bremer is on medications for anemia, hypothyroidism and
several other related conditions.†K’temoc snarled more considered about
his sister in laws health, and well being.

“We have her medical condition on file,†Dutour reassured him. “I am sorry
to have to do this, It was not my first choice for how to meet with you
either.â€

Janice moved forward to K’temoc looking her brother in law directly in eyes.

“My children, K’temoc, put them under the care of Sgt. Worth, see that they
get to My mother’s house on Earth, put guards on them.â€

He nodded.
“ I will see to it “ .

“ I love Admiral Bremer and our children more than anything in this
world or the next, tell them that.†Her breathing was becoming fast, and she
was slowly loosing her fight to maintain composure.

“ I will... General.. you have my word...†He said, as the security
officer, pulled her back, and begin to lead her to the transporter pad.

“Thank you for your cooperation, sir,†Dutour nodded to Bremer, then tapped
his comm badge. “Dutour to Excalibur . Five to beam back when you’re ready,
Chief.â€


Janice closed her eyes tightly as everything she knew and loved disappeared
from around and her appeared in the strange new surroundings, She fell down
to her knees.
“I think I am going to be sick†She said feeling dizzy.

“General, you will be confined to quarters for now. We will be not be
travelling from Earth’s orbit. We will have medical personnel available,
and we have left a pre-programmed independent replicator in the quarters. No
main computer access will be available on board this vessel, no
communication with anyone off this ship will be permitted until trial.â€
