Mission:
Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: Saith's Quarters, the Lexington
Timeline: Following the Away Team briefing
Saith left the briefing and headed to the small gymnasium to work out some of her frustrations. She wished for the tenth time that Maal was here and not on the Vanguard. Changing her mind she walked to the console, using it to call Captain Pike as she was not wearing her com badge with her Romulan uniform. “Ensign Baratan to Captain Pike, can I have a private word with you at your convenience?”
She left the gym and headed for her quarters. She knew that the Captain was busy and would contact her when he could. If he did not have time she would just deal with it. She squelched the lights when they automatically came up and felt her way around the dark room instead. Lying on the bed she let herself remember and cry.
As the tears abated, she added up her situation in her head. Her plus columns for all of her possible scenarios were small. Her minus columns were all long. There was only on positive that she could latch onto, Maal. If she left and went home she would never see him again. If she failed her mission she would either never see him again because they would be caught, or because she would face sanctions at the base. If she did her job and were successful she would go back to his strong arms. She groaned at the thought it would mean helping Remans.
And what of Maal? Things had been going well, but would they continue to do so? If she and Maal broke up would she have missed all opportunity to go home? Unbidden, her thoughts went to her human family. She had less than 24 hours to come to a decision unless she let fate decide. Still on the bed, in the dark, she closed her eyes “Favdt!”
