U.S.S. Saratoga

Commander Winter was seated in his command chair while his first officer, Lieutenant Thorin went back to the Tactical Map. Once the Saratoga was complete with this planet, they were orderd to head for Point Bravo, the Massey system to refit their ground installations there with the new tachyon detection grid sensors. Ensign K'Wor was intensely monitoring the Tholian Military activity especially those of General Tozrax.

"Captain." K'Wor said.

"We are being hailed."

"Is it the Colonial Governor?"

"Negative. Its General Tozrax."

That earned looks of surprise around the room.

"Open a channel."

"Yes sir."

"This is General Tozrax, you have trepassed upon Tholian Burial Grounds. I demand that you withdraw your citizens immediately or face the consequences if you choose to disobey."

"General, this is Commander James Winter of the Federation Starship Saratoga." Winter said as he stood even though there was no visual communique between the two of them. "Saratoga is not going anywhere. We are conducting colonial resupply operations for our distant outpost."

"Commander." Said the Tholian through the use of the universal translator installed onboard Saratoga., "Let me serve you formal notice. The Tholian Assembly believes that you are not supplying your colony in fact you are arming your people for a war."

"General." Winter said as he walked forward. "The Federation does not wish war anymore than we wish famine or disease. We are here simply put to resupply a distant colony world."

"Your ship does not look like a typical freighter to me."

Winter had to admit the General had him there. Instead he tried a different tact. "General, I know of your reputation. I give you my word we are not here for anything other than our own world has requested these supplies we are giving them, food, shelter, clothing because they suffered a global disaster. Now this colony has stood for over eighty years. Where was your objections then?" It was clear Tozrax wanted to prove his worth to the Typhon Pact.

Tozrax was silent for a few moments. "We shall see if you are as good as your word Commander, but if you make one false move you shall regret it."

"I assure you this General."

"Very Well." He then clicked off the link.

"Certainly not a guy to have coffee with." Brandy pointed out.

"Quite Right Ensign."

Thorin interjected. "With these several ships patrolling the border, how tedious is this pact they have with the Romulans?"

Winter frowned that was what was bothering him. "This pact seemed to be thrown together rather quickly. I got the impression he's trying to prove his worth in this contract his government entered into. "

"How about we contact 400 and ask for a intelligence update?"

Lee turned to face them. "It could be that the pact is merely one sided in terms of the Romulans Favor."

Out there before Winter could reply a Cloaked Tholian Cruiser was making its way across the Tholian Border. Commander Yarix, eager to upstage Tozrax and to prove to the Assembly the Federation was arming for war decided on his own to announce The Tholian Way.
