Mission 82 - The Aggressor

ON:
Mike looked at his schedule, he was finally on his last meeting for the day. This one was with his Marine Staff. He’d asked Colonel Hurd, Captain Lennox, Master Sergeant Jeffery Duval, Gunnery Sergeant Marcus Ermey, and Gunnery Sergeant Agtx to be in the meeting.
Mike picked up three PADDs and left his Office and headed for the Briefing Room where this meeting would take place. With so many people to attend, his Office would be a little cramped, and he wanted the Marines to relax…at least a little.
Mike was the first to arrive and he took a moment to look out the large window to the rear of the room. That side of the Station was facing away from Kaleb IV so the view was a beautiful star field. Mike tapped a few commands on the briefing table’s controls and the screens on the front wall between the models of the Pegasus, Yorktown, Essex, and Luna came to life with various information. The holoprojector in the middle of the table also lite up and projected a holographic map of the Kaleb System.
Mike then waited for the others to arrive…
As Lt. Col. Hurd finished securing the Saratoga, he recived a summons to meet with Admiral Bremer in the breifing room. Finishing what he was doing, Col. Hurd left the Saratoga, and borded the nearest Turbolift, sating "Breifing Room" as he stepped in. The doors slid closed, and he took off for his meeting.
As the turbolift stoped, the Hurd steped off, and proceded to the breifing room, wondering what the topic of this meeting would be about. As he walked in, he snapped to attention, and said, "Lt. Col. David Hurd reporting, Sir!" As he awaited the Sdmiral's response he chanced a glance at the display screen, which was showing both the status of several vessels, and a map of the Kaleb System. This only further served to increase his curiosity.
Before Mike could answer, Captain Lennox and Gunnery Sergeants Ermey and Agxt entered though the opposite door. As Lennox said “Attention on Deck!” Mike quickly held up a hand…
“At ease, everyone.” He smiled for a moment, “Please take a seat.” He waited for Crespin and Duval to arrive.
Moments later the door opened and in walked a sizeable marine, the guy was dark skinned and older looking, he also smiled as he looked around. "Admiral." he greeted Bremer first as he nodded to his new Commanding officer, Colonel Hurd. "Sir."
He took a moment to identify the other men in the room as he traded a glare with the Gorn Marine but said nothing to anyone else as he took his position before the holoprojector.
Col. Hurd sat intently, and was extreamly curious about what the breifing was being held on. In a respectfull manor, he asked, ''Sir, what is this about?''
Duvall looked carefully at the map of the Kaleb system and he notice that the four ships in question were quite an eclectic group of ships, either this was a policing mission or a system patrol but why use four ships?. Duvalls eyes narrowed as the thought crossed his mind, four ships was extreamly top heavy but then with a four Star Admiral in the room with over twenty ships and a Major Starbase under his command, there were many oddities in the room.
He had heard about a Jem'Hadar Observer as being part of the staff and wondered if he was going to be here as well as he wondered the same thing as the Colonel had just inquired about a minute or so earlier.
Duvall looked closer and then he realized the four ships were nothing more then just decoration, he suddenly realized he was assuming facts not in evidence, as he smiled.
Mike looked around, now that everyone was here. He took a breath and stood up.
“Thank you all for coming. This will be brief. I want to find out the status of the Station’s Marine Division, and Fighter Wing as well as provide you all with some new standing orders and expectations.” Mike looked around the room, making eye contact with everyone before continuing.
“Colonel, I know you’re still lacking a dedicated Division Deputy Commander, and until that position is filled Captain Lennox will serve in that position."
Lennox glanced at Hurd, then nodded to the Admiral, "Aye Skipper."
Mike nodded, then continued, "Also, we’re missing a dedicated Divisional First Sergeant, and until that position is filled Master Sergeant Duval will take on those duties. So other than a general lack of personnel overall, what is the status of the First Marine Division?”
Mike looked at Hurd for his reply
Hurd looked back at the Admiral, and said, '' Sir, the 1st is ready in all respects and able to take to task any mission to which we are tasked to.''
Mike nodded, "I want you to take inventory of all Marine weapons and equipment for the Division, as well as what we have in storage. I want to be able to resupply any ships that dock."
Mike paused, then gave another directive, "I also want additional training for all personnel. Objectives include infiltration, extraction of personnel and sensitive data and materials, boarding party deployment, and capture and control. Train against Romulan, Gorn, and Krazzle."
Marines trained all the time, but Mike was giving specifics, and the Marines all shared a glance before looking back at the Admiral.
Duvall raised an eyebrow, the job of First Sergeant was something he had never done before but he relished a challenge, the last time someone put a challenge to him in this manner was when his first CO said he would never make a good father to anyone.
He had three children to his name and a wife who served elsewhere, he thought he did alright but then he had proved his point, he had done this across his entire career since age eighteen and he would continue until he retired or died on active duty.
"Admiral, if I may inquire." Duvall commented shortly after the Admiral explained his orders. "What about the other members of the Typhon Pact?"
Mike looked around the room before answering. "The Breen, Holy Order of the Kinshaya, Son'a, Talarians, and Tzenkethi are all on the other side of Federation space, and the Tholians have maintained their isolationist ways. For now, we need to concentrate on more local threats."
Col. Hurd, who had been quietly taking in the orders gaven to him, spoke up, ''Sir, i have a few questions.'' My first one is what our current rules of engagement, will the Saratoga play any role in what is about to happen, and what is the timeframe to accomplish the order's as laid out above?
"We need to get started training at once." Mike replied, "The Saratoga will be deployed as needed, but I want to make sure the Marines are ready first and foremost."
Mike looked around again for a moment. Ermey and Agtx spoke up, saying they would start on the weapons inventory at once.
"All right, let's get to it. Dismissed."
