Mission:
Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Admiral Bremer's Office
Timeline: Directly Following 'USS Venator'
ON:
Mike was still in his Office after his meeting with Yamaguchi. He was looking over a progress report regarding the Pegasus when he received a message regarding new crewmembers that had come on board. My usually skimmed the list, unless he was expecting someone in particular or was awaiting a new Senior Staff Officer, but a name caught his eye. Instead of saving the message for later review, he access the new person’s information and the words ‘former Borg Drone’ seemed to be bold and stood out from everything else.
Warrant Officer Talan wasn’t the first former Drone Mike had serviced with. A former Operations Officer turned Engineer aboard the Pegasus-A, Commander Nev, was a ‘rescued drone’ and been a very capable officer for years…but this was the first former Drone Mike had serviced with his own capture and assimilation by the Borg just before the Borg invasion of 2381. If it wasn’t for a daring rescue by the Pegasus-B, Enterprise-E, Yorktown, Defiant, and Voyager Mike might still be a Borg today.
He hadn’t given the incident much thought for years, possibly suppressing the memories. Called ‘Tyronis’ by the Borg, Bremer had been forced to aid the Borg in destroying a Federation/Klingon Fleet of twenty-five ships and begin assimilation of the Zerian population and their planet before he was rescued and the Borg Cube destroyed. Mike’s ‘de-assimilation’ surgery was performed by Doctor Crusher and the EMH from Voyager. It, of course, was a success and all of the Borg technology was removed…except for the spinal supports that are permanently fused to his spin and spinal cord. His link with the Collective was cut, but later Mike found he was able to ‘communicate’ with Borg Nanites that were aboard the Pegasus-B and ‘directed them’ to make repairs to the vessel during the subsequent missions to the Klingon space to confront his former mentor and friend of his father’s Malor Son of K’Tor and after into the Gamma Quadrant to prevent the Renegade Toral from attacking the Founders’ Homeworld and stating a second Dominion War. As the years passed by, Mike lost the ability to communicate with the microscopic machines…or had he?
He shook his head, of course he did. He would know if he was able to communicate with the nanites or not. Mike looked back at Talan’s profile, then tapped his Comm-Badge. “Warrant Officer Talan, please report to Admiral Bremer’s Office at once.”
Warrant Officer Talan had been on the Promenade investigating an alleged theft from a Trill merchant's shop. He was currently interrogating a Pakled suspect who was quivering in the corner of the Promenade Security Office. "Return the stolen wares and your punishment shall reflect your confession." The Pakled was frozen in fear. Talan's corneal implant made the slightest whirring sound as it rotated. His visual display indicated several biological responses which suggested the Pakled's guilt. "If you continue to remain non-compliant, you will force me to be more persuasive."
Just then, Admiral Bremer's voice filled the Security Office. Talan was ordered to the Admiral's office on the double. He gave the Pakled a searing gaze before escorting him to a holding cell. He erected the force field and offered the Pakled a final ultimatum. "You are fortunate I have been ordered elsewhere. Perhaps you will be more forthcoming upon my return."
Talan exited on to the Promenade and found the nearest turbolift. He selected his destination and, after a brief ride, arrived at the corridor which led to the Admiral's office. He rang the chime and the doors to the office opened immediately. Sitting behind his desk, the Admiral seemed eager to get started. "Warrant Officer Talan reporting as ordered, sir."
Mike stood up and glared at the drone...at Talan for a moment. Talan reminded him a little of Seven of Nine, liberated but still having some visible Borg implants. He was thankful he wasn't a Borg any longer than he was or he might have visible implants too still.
"Please, come in." He waited to see how Talan would address him before he continued.
Talan marched to the front of the Admital's desk, stood at attention, and looked straight ahead. "Admiral, I am at your service. I was under the impression there might be an urgent matter."
Mike let out a small breath, he was presently surprised not to be refereed to as ‘Tyronis’ by the drone...by Warrant Officer Talan.
"No, no urgent matter at all. I simply wanted to meet you. Welcome aboard Starbase 400 Mister Talan. If you have any questions Commander Lokran is our Chief of Security and I saw you already meet our Assistant Chief, Ensign Brody."
Mike turned and took a seat at his desk again, "Dismissed." He tried to flash a smile, as Talan turned and left the office.

OOC: The events I mentioned from Bremer's past are a part of Missions 56, 57, and 58, you can read the logs from the Main Flash site! Mission 57 was also the first one that our beloved Alexandra Harrison was apart of! Mission 58 was also the first mission aboard the Pegasus-B for Admiral Sevlek’s current Aid, Commander Zandusky! (small universe huh?)
