Mission: Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Starbase 400, Ops
Timeline: A week after the last post...

ON:

A week had gone by since the Kearsarge and Avenger had returned to Starbase 400. Both vessels were docked and undergoing repairs. The Lexington was also docked and was undergoing replenishment of her supplies and weapons.

Work to the Pegasus was still a few weeks away from completion. New systems for Quantum Slipstream Drive and Type-XIII Phasers were already in place and Engineering, Operations, and Science teams were working to get the new positronic core and LCARS 7 online. Teams had run into problems here and there trying to retrofit necessary systems into the ship. They had expanded the upper and lower computer core facilities into adjacent science labs, converting them for the larger core and supporting systems for the core. They also expanded Engineering, taking over a small adjacent cargo bay for extra equipment for the QSD.

The Essex was nearly finished with her repairs and upgrades. Quantum Slipstream was installed and ready to go, however the new core and LCARS were going to take a while, at least another few weeks. However, she wouldn’t be receiving the updated Type-XIII Phasers, their supporting systems were just too much for an Intrepid class vessel. That said, Engineering teams were looking to see if she could be upgraded from Type-X to Type-XII arrays. Those systems were smaller than those for the Type-XIII and required less power to operate, but were still an improvement over existing systems.

The Durga and Venator were just starting on their upgrades and would be docked for a while, at least two months. There was a lot of hardware and software upgrades and replacement involved in not only the addition of the Quantum Slipstream Drive, but also the upgraded Type XIII Phasers, positronic core and LCARS 7. Once they were finished, tested, and active again the Vanguard and Lexington would begin their upgrades.

In Ops, Mike was reading over a report from the USS Stockton from the Gorn border. The Stockton and three other ships had arrived along the border after the Avenger and Kearsarge had returned to Starbase 400. Rear Admiral Ssa`ssar, the Gorn Commander along the Federation border, was still talking big but all seemed quiet now.

However that wasn’t the case between the Krazzle and C’Hakilian. The fighting was intense and while the C’Hakilian Fleet was able to hold its own a little better now that it had fallen back to protect its core worlds, the Krazzle were still pushing.

Mike had given Admiral Sevlek his plan for a possible Blockade of Krazzle space a few days before, and he was waiting for the Vulcan to finish his scrutinizing of it.

Aboard Starbase 400 all the new members of the crew were settled in, while veteran members of the crew were back to their usual routines.

As Mike walked through Ops, he smirked seeing so many Senior Officers on duty there at one time. Lokran, Gillo, Coleman, La Baron, Yamaguchi, and Pike were all in Ops. The Admiral turned to head for his Office when the comm beeped.

“Admiral Bremer, please report to the Brig.” An excited Security Officer reported.

Mike tapped his Comm-Badge, “On my way.” As he headed for the turbolift, he looked over at his Chief of Security. “Lokran you’re with me.”

"Coming." said R'nard, looking for something to do. The past mission had been relatively uneventful for him.

Several minutes later, Bremer and Lokran arrived outside the Maximum Security Brig. Ensign Brody, Ensign Baratan, and a three person Security Team was already there. Mike looked at Saith, “Remain here, no one leaves without Mister Lokran’s approval.” Everyone looked at Bremer, confused.

"Yes sir." Saith replied. She took up a stance by the outer door while here two companions stationed themselves by the inner brig doors.

R'nard looked up. Something was about to happen, and it intrigued him.

“Lokran, Brody, with me.” Mike stepped forward and the doors opened. Inside were five cells, three of which were occupied, and to the side at the Security Console was an Ensign that looked scared out of his mind.

“Ensign, report.” Mike said, but the man just stared at one of the prisoners. Brody looked at the prisoner, but back at the Admiral.

The Ensign didn’t speak, only looked at Bremer’s Mirror Universe duplicate.

“Commander, get someone else up here. I want two people on duty in here at all times. Ensign Brody, escort him to Sick Bay.” Mike kept his eyes locked on his duplicate, but didn’t say anything to him. Mike knew all he wanted was the attention. The other prisoners, Dexter and Clark, both just sat on their bunks looking at the bulkheads. Bremer’s duplicate on the other hand stood next to forcefield and stared down the Admiral.

R'nard just glanced at them, and then turned to his Admiral. He wondered if he had a counterpart.

Saith sent the her two companions in to the brig to assist the Admiral, then sent orders to two off duty officers to come take their places. One thing about Security, when asked to do something they did it now. The additional personnel was there in minutes.

Everyone waited until two more Security Officers arrived. Mike looked at both men, a Vulcan and an Andorian, “Do not interact with the prisoners. If they somehow get out of their cells, shoot them…heavy stun.”

The Security Officers nodded, and took their positions before Mike, Lokran, Brody, and the scared Ensign walked out of the cell area and into the outer Brig area. “You three, remain here.” He looked back at Lokran, “I also want three on duty in here from now on, around the clock. Anyone entering must have authorization.”

Saith heard the orders and squinted her eyes in thought. She wondered what this was all about, and searched her memory for all the details she could come up with, even if they were just rumor.

Ensign Brody leaned down to Commander Lokran. "Sir, it might help if we pumped an aerosolised sedative into this one's cell." Brody made eye contact with Bremer's mirror counterpart and found the man's demeanor to be slightly unsettling. "I know such measures are reserved for situations of violence or riotous behavior, but it might be helpful until we can ascertain what happened here to spook our Officer."

"Make it so." said R'nard. "It can't hurt. But make no eye contact with them anymore. That's what they want."

Ensign Brody made his way to the brig console. He punched in a couple commands and an audible hiss could be heard coming from the mirror Bremer's cell. The doppelgänger never broke his menacing eye contact even as the gas began to take its effect. The prisoner slowly succumbed until he was unconscious. Brody turned to his superiors. "Admiral. Commander. The prisoner has been subdued."

Mike nodded, "Keep an eye on him." Many of the usual Security protocols wouldn't work against Bremer's mirror universe duplicate. Blood, DNA, retina scans, finger prints were all exactly the same between the two. Even blood gas and temporal flux in his cells matched the Admiral's now since he'd been in this universe for so many years.

Starfleet had implanted an Isolinear Tag following his last attempt to take over the Pegasus a little over ten years ago, and that was the only way to tell the two apart...besides the scar on the Mirror's right cheek that Bremer gave him in 2378.

Bremer walked out of the Brig and back into the corridor. Lokran, Brody, and Baratan followed. "Commander, review security protocols for this Brig, let's make sure if something happens and any of them did get out, we have adequate security in place to subdue them, or at the very least call for assistance.

"Yes sir."

Saith wondered exactly how much the Admiral knew and wasn't sharing. Her eyes narrowed for a fraction of a second before she caught herself, and forced them fully open. She felt stupid standing in the hallway having this discussion, but Lokran was in charge of Security and Bremer might as well have been the Elements as he was in charge of everything. So, she stood in the corridor.

Mike left the Security Staff to do their jobs has he headed back to Ops. He was actually surprised it took his Mirror 'self' to make a little noise, but he was also confident his mirror was safely locked away.
