Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Starbase 400

|Docking Bay/Crew Quarters
ON:
After a trip which consisted of several games of Go Fish, I Spy and Twenty Questions. Lieutenant Commander Monday and his family finally arrived at what would become their new home, Starbase 400. As they approached the starbase Monday opened the comm channel saying "Shuttle Apollo to Starbase 400, requesting permission to dock."
Archer was in Ops when the called from the Shuttlecraft Apollo came in. "Permission granted Apollo, Shuttlebay Six is open. Please reduce speed to one hundred KPH for final approach."
"Understood and will do" replied Monday as he decreased the Apollo's speed.
Once the docking bay was secure Monday opened the hatch, picked up his bag and held his daughter Kaylee's hand then looking at Kaylee and Lanora Monday said "Well, this is it. Our new home."
While Monday was excited about the transfer, Lanora wasn't as pleased because she had just help establish a school on Mandukar. However she knew that a transfer was always a possibility.
Mike was back in his office after meeting with Captain Pike. He'd heard the call between Ops and the Shuttlecraft Apollo moments before while he was taking a quick walk around Ops, getting some information he'd need for his meeting with Admiral Sevlek and the rest of his Senior Officers later in the day. Mike knew a new Engineer was coming aboard today, from Starbase 349. Mike had received a short message from Vice Admiral Raskin the day before, and he was a little concerned.
Not about Monday himself, his Starfleet Record was exemplary, it was the current state of Starbase 349 itself. While Mike understand the reasons why Raskin, SB349, and Raeya III had seceded from the Federation, Mike still wanted to make sure anyone that transferred from there to Starbase 400 knew what to expect and knew to follow Starfleet code.
Mike wanted to invite Commander Coleman to the meeting too, as Starbase 400's Chief of Engineering, he needed to meet his new Assistant CEO, however Coleman was about to depart aboard the Avenger for the Gorn border.
Mike leaned back in his chair and waited for Monday to arrive. While waiting, his monitor beeped to alert him that Monday wasn't the only new member of the Starbase 400 crew to arrive. The new Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer, Lieutenant Finchley Kerr, was now on board.
The Admiral sent a message to Kerr to also come to his office, he thought it would be best to meet both Kerr and Monday at the same time.
Finchley had only just dropped his bag on the floor when his COMM badge chirruped and Admiral Bremers' request for him to go to his officer came through.
"Hardly even wiped my feet at the door and works calling already Finchley laughingly said out loud to himself. Tapping his COMM badge he sent a message back saying he was on his way immediately.
After Monday made sure Lanora and Kaylee were settled in their quarters with their things from Starbase Bravo; Monday took the turbolift up to C&C then headed to Admiral Bremer's office. Once he reached the Admiral's door Monday pressed the door chime.
When the door chimed, Mike immediately replied, "Enter". A second later the door opened and in walked a skinny man with Lieutenant Commander pips on this gold trimmed uniform.
Mike stood up and smiled, "Mister Monday, welcome aboard Starbase 400."
Finchley had just arrived on the Command deck and was on his way to the CO's office when he saw the doors of that office open and an officer walk through. Beginning to hurry so he could make it through as well, he didn't quite judge it correctly, and as he fired through the doors, one side caught the toe of his shoe and tripped him.
The effect of this was to see Finchley 'swan dive' into the office and land rather unceremoniously on his stomach with an unsatisfying "Ooof!" sound...
"Thank you Admiral, good to be here" replied Monday.
As Monday finished the word 'here' a not-so-graceful black, gray, gold, and white swan flew though the door and landed beside Monday's right foot.
Even the Admiral, with all he'd been though the last few weeks, couldn't help but to smile for a moment as he walked over and offered a hand to man.
"I'll give you a ten for effort, but only a two for the landing." It felt good to laugh, and Mike felt a little bad for doing it, but admittingly, Mike was felt good for laughing at all.
Grateful for the hand up, Finchleys' face must have been crimson as he replied "Thank you, I, eh, I'm sorry about that Admiral, didn't quite time coming through the door properly and you saw the result."
Now that he was on his feet again, he realized he still had his transfer order PADD in his hand. Offering it out to the senior officer he said "Lieutenant Finchley Kerr, your new Assistant Chief of Security, landing pathetically for duty Sir."
Mike took the PADD as he motioned to the chairs in front of his desk for Monday and Finchleys to sit. "We'll have to work on your foot work a little, Commander Lokran can help with that when he returns." Mike smiled as he took his seat.
"Welcome to Starbase 400 gentlemen. Both of your Department Heads are off the Station right now, so those introductions will have to wait." He paused a moment as he picked up two PADDs and handed one each to Fin and Monday.
"Here are your assignments for now. I'd like you both to work aboard the Princeton. Her overhaul is coming along well. She is a Constitution Refit Class ship that had been mothballed for over seventy years. Captain Clifford had been overseeing her work before he left on a mission. Primary power is online and her new Computer Core has been installed. Her Hull work is finished, as well as superstructure upgrades are done too. However weapons, shields, warp and impulse engines, and other primary systems are on the to-do list. I'd like you both to start working aboard her next week."
Mike paused a moment, giving them time to ask questions they might have.
Inside his minds eye, Finchley was clapping his hands like an excited five year old, he'd always wanted the chance to work on a Constitution Class, they were just so...iconic.
Outwardly he smiled as he reached forward and accepted the PADD offered to him. He took several moments to quickly look over the work needing done, he could have a more detailed look when back in his quarters. Once he was at the end of the notes, he looked at the Admiral and said "Things are obviously more drastic than had been expected if we're upgrading and refitting seventy year old ships Sir, but I'll have a schedule for the Security work needing completed, on your desk in a couple of hours."
Mike didn't want to agree to or disagree with the 'drastic' comment, even though in this case it was just some Admiral at Starfleet Command's wild whim desire.
"Very good Mister Kerr." Mike then turned to Mister Monday.
"Constitution Class?" Monday smiled then said "I look forward to working her. It may be old but it's like restoring an automobile from the twentieth century."
Mike flashed a quick smile. "Any other questions?"
"Just one Admiral" Finchley asked "Once we've re-fitted this Constitution Class ship, what will we be doing with it?"
"She'll be stationed here." Mike proudly replied. Mike was actually a little eager to have the ship ready too.
Before he could dismiss them, his panel beeped. Another new member of the ship's crew had arrived. Ensign Anthony La Baron, a young Human fresh out of the Academy. The Admiral sent a quick message to the Ensign to meet him in his Office. He figured it would be best to meet with him before Monday and Finchley left. Not only would he have La Baron join them in working aboard the Princeton, but this would free up the rest of his day so he could finish some necessary reports.
Anthony had just stepped out off the transporter pad when he received the message. Despite his anxiety, he managed to spit out that he was on his way. With the help of the Station's crew, Anthony found the Admiral's Office just a few moments short of becoming fashionably late. Anthony entered the room to find several of his fellow officers situated around the Admirals desk.
"Ensign La Baron, reporting for duty sir." Said Anthony with a subtle quiver in his voice.
Mike stood up and flashed a welcoming smile, "Ensign, welcome to Starbase 400. Please, have a seat. This is Lieutenant Commander Chris Monday our new Assistant Chief Engineering Officer and Lieutenant Finchley Kerr our new Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer."
Mike sat back down, "I know you only just arrived and want to get settled in, so I'll keep this brief for you." He picked up a PADD and recorded the data regarding the USS Princeton to it, then handed it over to the Ensign.
"Most of the Senior Officers are away on a mission, but in the meantime I'd like you to join Mister Kerr and Mister Monday aboard the USS Princeton. Her specifications and current status are on the PADD. I know you're field is Science, so I want you to make sure her sensors and science labs are ready." Mike paused to allow the young man a moment to look over the PADD and absorb everything.
"My great grandfather was the captain of a Constitution Class," Anthony said with a smile as he looked over the PADD, "I can't wait to get started."
Mike smirked, "So was mine." He looked around the room, "Any other questions?"
"No Sir." Anthony said with his arms folded behind his back.
"Once we're done, do we get to take the Princeton out on a 'test drive' Sir?" Finchley asked hopefully, crossing his fingers behind his back and praying that the Admiral would say yes.
"I think that can be arranged." Mike replied with a smirk.
Finchley was delighted at the news "Thank you Sir" he replied.
Mike stood up and flashed a smile, "Thank you all for coming...and again, Welcome aboard Starbase 400."
