Mission: Mission 81 - Revenge
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After The Chase

ON:

The dermal treatments were going well, Tressa noted, although in some places they had to rebuild the muscle tissue beneath so there would be tissue to adhere to the new skin. She walked back to her office to update Captain Harrison.

"Captain, would you like something to drink?" Tressa asked as she moved over to the replicator.

Alex was turning her engagement ring around, obviously worried. She slightly jumped when Brislan came in, "Um, no thanks. I've had three cups of coffee already and I'm jumpy enough."

"Of course. Captain Pike's burns are almost repaired, then he'll need a few hours for the new skin to bond and we will monitor him for any possible infection. Neural scans are showing minimal damage, but we cannot perform the necessary motor and cognitive tests until he is awake," the doctor said, leaning against the desk.

"If you like, you can see him now."

Alex stood up and started to pace, "I'm...I'm not sure if I can go out there." She stopped and looked at Brislan, "What if..." She couldn't even say the words, "What if he doesn't..." she sighed.

"There is no reason to think that, coma is very common with this type of injury," Tressa began. She saw Alex's hand trembling slightly.

"You know, Doctor Biers is a very attractive man, but I believe Captain Pike would prefer the first face he sees to be his beautiful fiance's," she said softly.

"You're right. I'm just being silly. I guess what happened with Admiral Bremer has gotten to me. You can be so happy one minute, then something happens to ruin that. I kept thinking that this is one of those times."

"Shall we, then?" Tressa said, motioning towards the door.

Alex stood there, watching Brislan finish working on Lee.

*Bremer walks in* (Refer to The Chase, pt.1)

Alex looked over at Janice but she wasn't sure if anything she said to Janice sunk in or not. "Don't worry. Westmoreland will get what's coming to him."

2 1/2 hours pass.......

Alex sat in a chair right next to Lee's side. Her hand was on his. She was slouched with her head resting on him, eyes closed. As Lee began to stir, Alex stood up and ran to Dr. Brislan to let her know he was coming to.

Lee slowly opened his eyes and his whole body was racked with pain. He looked around wondering where the Hades he was. He remembered being on the hull of the ship and the bomb exploding, so he figured he must be either dead or in sickbay:"Imzadi, where are you?" He said to Alex telepathically

Alex walked over to him, "I'm right here."

He started coughing badly, even that hurt:"Ugh I feel like I was ran over by a pack of targs."

"Pretty close to it." She made a failed attempt of smiling.

Lee gave her a half smile:"I take it I'm in sick bay on the Pegasus?"

"At least that part of your brain is working." She didn't mean it as a joke.

He held out his hand for Alex:"How are you holding up Imzadi?"

She wasn't smiling whatsoever, "Damn it Lee! You almost got yourself killed out there. How do you think I'm holding up?" She growled a little, "I've been worried sick about you."

Lee nodded, he understood and didn't blame her for being upset:"I am sorry Imzadi, guess am getting a little slow in my old age."

Alex sighed, "I'm sorry." She took a cleansing breath, "I love you and I don't know what I'd do if you had..." She knew Janice was there so she didn't finish her sentence.

He held Alex's hand:"It's ok Imzadi. I love you too." Lee turned and looked towards Janice then turned back "I know...and the same for me about you."

Alex smiled a little but until Westmoreland was caught, she wouldn't feel safe.

He then looked over at the doctor:"So what's the diagnosis Doc?"

"Your latest vital scans look good, Captain, and we'll run the wave and positron scans in a few minutes. Do you have a headache, or feel nauseous?" Tressa asked.

"Well am not feeling nauseous but I have pain all over from head to toe though."

"We can help you with that," the doctor said, administering a hypospray. "I'll give you a few minutes, then Doctor Biers and I will need to start the neural scans," she added. She smiled at Alex, "And your fiance will be here for you when we're done."

Alex nodded, "I'm not going anywhere until I'm sure that you are completely fine."

Lee looked over at Alex:"I know Imzadi, and I would do the same for you if roles where reversed."

"Thanks. Let's just hope it doesn't happen."

He smiled at her:"Welcome. I also hope that it doesn't happen either."
