Small talk

Posted on Sat Dec 15th, 2012 @ 6:17pm by Commodore Leon `Lee` Pike & Commodore Alexandra Harrison & Lieutenant JG Paul Harrison

1,454 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: Mission 81 - Revenge
Location: Enroute to Harrison's Quarters
Timeline: Right After the Celebration, before Joy and Sorrow

The big Celebration was over and Lee was walking with Alex back to her quarters, he was holding her hand as Paul was a few feet in front of them.

"That was a pretty good party there."

"Yes it was. Deela has no problem throwing great parties, that's for sure. What did you think about her?"

"Deela is a nice woman, yes she does throw great parties. Think her and I could become friends."

"That's good. I'm glad." She didn't say much after that.

Lee looked at her as they walked:"What's on your mind dear?"

"Hmm? Oh, nothing really. I was just thinking about how happy Deela is. I hope her asking about the wedding date didn't bother you too much. She has no problem speaking her mind."

Lee shook his head:"No her asking about the wedding date didn't bother me one bit."

"I'm glad" was all she said.

"So when would you like to get married?"

"She got me thinking about it myself. I just know that I don't want to get married on the 3rd month. That was my wedding anniversary. And I don't want to be married on mine or Paul's birthday either." Paul's birthday was around the corner.

Lee nodded:"Ok so when is your and Paul's birthday?"

"Mines May and his is next month. So, definitely not on those days because I don't want to take away from our birthdays."

"Also I would like for Paul to be a groomsman."

She smiled, "I'm sure if you ask him, he would be very happy to accept. I'm glad that you are including him."

Lee nodded:"Ok how about the month of July?"

"July is nice."

He then turned:"Hey Paul, have a question for you."

Paul stopped walking and looked over at Lee, "Yeah. What's the question?"

Lee smiled at him:"How would you like to be a groomsman for your mother's and I wedding?"

He smiled brightly, "Really? Yeah sure. When?"

Lee looked at Alex then back at Paul:"Well if your mother is ok with it was thinking July 6."

"Sounds good to me. Mom?"

Alex chuckled, "Sounds good to me as well."

Lee then put his arms around and Alex and whispered to her:"Do you want any more kids?"

"Um." She had to think about that one, "I haven't thought about it really. I'm not sure."

Lee nodded:"I was just wondering was all."

"It's okay. You just caught me off guard, that's all."

He sighed:"It's ok if you don't want any more kids though I understand. Mean Paul is a teenager and you don't have to worry about diapers and all that stuff anymore with him."

"Wait. I'm not dismissing the idea. I had Paul at 19, so I was pretty young and didn't know what I was doing. I also missed a lot of things while Paul was growing up so it might be nice to have another one."

Lee nodded:"I myself have no kids and would like to least have one someday if possible."

"I don't blame you."

He gave her a lop sided grin:"And since we are getting married soon and I do love you very much, figured you and I could maybe have least one kid together."

Smiling, "Okay." She paused, "Girl or boy?"

"It don't matter if it's a girl or a boy to me as long as the child is healthy."

"So true."

He raised an eye brow at her:"Are you saying then that you do want to have another child?"

Keeping a straight face, "That's exactly what I'm saying. Yes." She waited for it to hit him.

He stood there stunned for a moment after what she said. "Wooo hooo" Lee let out a big whoop then picked Alex up in his arms and spun her around in circles.

Alex laughed.

Lee stopped and put her down on the floor gently but held on to her:"I love you very much Imzadi." He then kissed her lips.

"I love you too." Paul wasn't quite sure how he felt. He was already heading for 16. He'd have either a half sister or brother. He looked at the two then started to walk on. Alex could see that Paul was not on the same page as they were.

She decided to leave him alone until they got into their quarters. Once there, she spoke to Lee, "I think Paul isn't as happy as we are about having a baby. Let's talk to him before he gets settled." Alex called his name, "Paul? Come here for a moment. What's wrong?"

He sighed, "You guys talking about have a baby brought up some old feelings, that's all. I'm glad that I'm going to have a brother or a sister but I just wish that it had happened when I was younger. Growing up, I wanted a little brother, someone that would look up to me, someone that I could play with. But in two years, I'll be at the Starfleet Academy and..."

Alex interrupted, "I get it, I really do. You'll still be a big brother and you can still teach him or her things. You'll just be an older big brother."

Paul hugged her, "I'm happy for you, really I am. I want you to be happy. And when you do have the baby, I'll be the best brother there is."

"Good. He...or she will be proud to have you as their brother."

"Thanks Mom. Thanks for saying that. It means a lot to me." Paul looked over at Lee, "You're going to make a great dad."

Lee nodded at Paul:"Thanks Paul, hopefully can be a great step father for you too."

He smiled at Lee, "We'll see."

He smiled at the both of them:"So what type of theme should we have for the wedding?"

Paul backed up, "Sorry but I'm going to sit this one out. I have some things to do in my room."

Alex watched Paul retreat to his room, "Hmm, theme for a wedding, I don't know." She sat down on her couch.

Lee went over and sat next to Alex on the couch placing his hand on her knee:"Well don't think a Betazed theme would be good since we all would have to be naked."

"Um, yeah. I prefer to get married with my clothes on."

He looked at her:"How bout a Klingon wedding? Or maybe just a normal one with us in our dress uniforms?"

"I've never been to a Klingon wedding and dress uniforms are a little unflattering not to mention uncomfortable."

He smiled:"Ok so we'll go for a Klingon style wedding then."

"You'll have to tell me what is involved...later."

Lee then reached over and pulled Alex onto his lap:"So who are you going to ask to be your maid of honor?"

"I'm not sure. I really don't have many female friends here. I could ask Deela but I'm not sure if it's proper for her to do so. I guess I could still ask her anyway. I'll figure it out."

Lee looked into her eyes:"I see nothing wrong with you asking Deela to be your maid of honor."

"Good. I'll ask her then."

"So how many on each side for the wedding party do you want to have?"

Alex realized that her list would be very tiny as she thought about who else she knew, "Maybe two? Three? I'll have to think about that as well."

Lee shrugged:"Just let me know how many that way know how many to ask for my side."

"I will."

"What about some family members, you could ask them?"

"I have a few in the security department that I'll ask. I don't have much family anymore."

He looked into her eyes:"So when you going to tell your family about the wedding?"

"I'll leave them a message to contact me. Who knows where they are right now. They travel a lot."

He nodded:"So what about your parents are they still alive?"

"Yeah, they are. My father's name is Mack and my mother's name is Victoria. What about yours?"

"My father's name is Marcus and my mohter's name is Stacy. I will be sending a message to my family tomorrow about the wedding. And knowing them Starbase 400 will be fuller with ships and people."

"Really. That many. Sounds like it's going to be a big wedding after all." She didn't realize that his family was big until now compared to her family. She felt a little overwhelmed.

Lee smiled at her:"It'll be ok hun, my family is going to love you. Hope Admiral Bremer is ok with a couple Klingon ships here too."
