Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Starbase
Timeline: Just prior to the start of the party
As she walked through the doors to the Security Department, Saith told the computer to log her in. Stopping at her computer station she checked to see what was on her calendar for today; not a lot. She toggled the message from Admiral T’Lar open, an invitation to a Christmas party. Saith cringed, she really wasn’t very good at parties and she knew nothing about Christmas. With a sigh she researched the computer for some background on the Human holiday.
She glanced again at her list of tasks, only three items. She decided she would go to the party after all, but not before she got Lt. Vid-Lotilija her Security codes. Picking up the pad with the codes, she took it with her, logging out as she left Security. She went to her quarters and changed for the party.
She had read something about green and red being some traditional colors for Christmas. As she did not have anything appropriate to wear for such an occasion she replicated a tight fitting gown in emerald green, with loose, lacy sleeves. The color matched the ends of her hair perfectly, but since she always had it pinned up no one here knew they were colored or how long her hair really was. She decided to let her hair down, literally, and it fell far below her butt, going almost to her ankles. She pinned the sides back slightly about her sleek, pointy ears, with some silver clips to keep it out of her face. Having it braided most of the time made it bounce in slight waves.
A glance in the mirror made her smile, so she picked up the pad and asked the computer where Lt. Vid-Lotilija was. With the information in hand she left her quarters and went to find the El-Aurian Science officer.
She recognized the woman from her Security file. Walking up to her she said “Lieutenant , I am Ensign Saith ki-Baratan. I have brought your Security codes, welcome aboard. I would not normally be out of uniform but I am off duty and going to a function hosted by Admiral T’Lar. ”
Vid-Lotilija was almost startled by the approach of young looking security officer. "Hello there, unofficial, but all business." She smiled wide nodding to the woman. "Yes, I planned to go to the party. It started already?"
“Yes, just.” Saith replied glancing at the chronometer.
"Normally I have no problem knowing what the time is, but today was somewhat unsettling day. It felt so good just sitting here and watching people go by, meet and greet, shop drink. Observing life from outside as my grandmother tend to call it." Vid-Lotilija finally stood up and offered her hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you!"
Saith shook the Lieutenant’s pro-offered hand. “Welcome aboard Starbase 400. I am a recent addition myself, and I did the same thing for the first couple of days here.”
"I'll first go and get changed. Guessing from your attire I'd be most probably the only one in uniform. I'm odd one out in any case, so making it more odd with clothes is not really something I'd prefer." After a moment thinking she leaned a head in naughty girl pose. "If it's not to strange or inappropriate in your culture, you can join me till I get changed and help me find the party." Turning expression into a Cheshire cat smile. "I prefer males." Nodding.
Saith smiled back at the Lieutenant. “I have never given much consideration to preferences,” she replied. “I will join you. That way we can be what my Human sister calls “fashionably late” together.” Even though she knew the way to the woman’s quarters, Saith swept her hand indicating the Lieutenant should “lead.” Saith fell instep beside her.
Vid-Lotilija decided to be brave and find her quarters without the help of computer. Fortunately the way from the promenade to her quarters was not much different than the one she took the first day with Coleman and she managed to find the way without making mistake.
Once they reached her quarters, Vid-Lotilija checked several boxes and opened one. It was full of colorful dresses. She was watching them almost awed that she has such a collection. Suddenly Vid-Lotilija realized that she subconsciously actually knew she do, since she was looking for one exact box. Shaking her head she turned to Saith. "Have an idea what would be the most appropriate?"
Saith laughed, "No, not any idea. I do not even know if mine is appropriate. I only chose this because it was green, which I read was a 'Christmas color' and matches my hair."
"Yes, red should be as good." Vid-Lotilija put on long dark red dress and high heels shoes of the same color. Finding red silk scarf she threw it on her shoulders and satisfied waved to Saith. "I think I'm ready."
They left Vid-Lotilija's quarters. This time she let Saith lead the way.
