Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: Following K'Temoc's Personal Log
ON:
K’Temoc left his quarters and headed for Ops. He wanted to make the request to have the Defiant class ship under construction at the Station renamed Yorktown and assigned to his Command.
He felt odd, in some ways empty, not having a ship. He’d commanded Yorktown-E for over ten years, just after her commissioning. Before that, he’d commanded the Defiant class USS Falcon during the Dominion war. He knew how Captain Picard must of felt when the Enterprise-D was lost, or how Captain Sisko felt when the Defiant was destroyed. Needless to say, he didn’t like the feeling.
As he entered Ops, he listened to Lieutenant Archer talked to an approaching ship over a comm-channel. “…understood Commander. The Falcon is cleared to dock at docking bay twenty-two. I’m sending a Tug to pull you in.”
“Belay the tug Ops, our hull integrity is at thirty-one percent, I’m afraid if a tug locks on with a tractor beam it’ll pull the ship apart.” The reply came over the comm.
Archer saw K’Temoc walk up and glanced at him, “They were caught in an ion storm. Before systems had time to recover they were hit by a passing asteroid. The ship is operating on emergency power only.”
K’Temoc nodded, then tapped his comm-badge. “K’Temoc to Coleman and Gillo, meet me at docking bay twenty-two. We have a damaged ship coming in.”
Archer tapped the comm, “Understood Falcon. We have damage control teams standing by and we’ve cleared the space to give you an open flight path.”
K’Temoc turned to walk back to the turbolift. If it was his old ship, he was going to do everything he could to keep from seeing her lost like he had the Yorktown just days before…
Several minutes later, K’Temoc was standing at the air lock for docking bay twenty-two. He watched out the window as the Falcon slowly approached. It was the first time he’d seen his old ship since leaving her. In an instance, a flood of memories and emotions washed over him. He remembered the good times stationed at Avalon Fleet Yards were the Falcon was the R&D vessel. He remembered several engagements against the Dominion during the war. He remembered the battle with the USS Universal that resulted into the loss of the Pegasus-A, just after the war ended. And he remembered the first day he stepped aboard the USS Falcon as her CO.
He watched Gillo and Coleman walking up as the Falcon docked. “She was caught in an ion storm, to make matters worse she was hit by an asteroid too. Main power is offline, only emergency power is functioning. Let’s get aboard, access the situation, and see what we need to do to save the ship.”
