A small step in the line

Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Briefing room
Timeline: During and after the Senior Staff Meeting
So much had happened so fast, Saith could hardly keep track. She had exited the Admiral’s office, without a word to him or the counselor. Angry at the entire encounter, she had intended to make her ordered appointment, later; after her shift in Security, after dinner, after she had returned to her personal quarters, but she actually never made it to quarters.
She had eaten her meal at the Romulan restaurant on base and was headed back to Security mulling over her options, when she had been called to the senior staff meeting. She glanced around the room; there was a lot of brass in here. Many people were people she knew by reputation alone. Her temper alternately rose and lessened as she listened to what was going on. She was still upset about the meeting with the Counselor, but at least she could put that out of her mind for a while. She did smile at the fact that she would be unable to schedule her appointment now. She had a small reprieve while on this mission, as long as she didn’t blow it.
She had nothing to say about the mission plans, so had just sat and listened to everyone else speak. Saith had no love for the Jem Hadar because she was Romulan, but she wasn’t particularly predisposed against them either, at least no more so than anyone else. She took in everyone at the meeting and noticed that Vice Admiral T’Lar also said nothing. Saith wasn’t sure what her role in the mission was going to be, but whatever it was she would give it her all.
Saith smiled to find she was under Captain Pike’s command on the Saratoga. He had stood his ground and bit back during their confrontation in the corridors of the Steadfast, and she respected him for that. He was no push over and like K’Temoc maybe she could work for him.
Saith stood to leave the meeting, but first she made her way over to Captain Pike and slid a computer chip in his hand, “You might find this interesting,” she leaned in and whispered to him. She had a duplicate copy secured in her quarters; she had not dared to leave a copy in Security. The chip contained not only the broken pirate code, but it also contained some interesting message start and end points. “I am not sure I believe that the people indicated on this are actually involved,” she told Pike, “But even so, it has to be someone with access to set them up.” She started to move away, and came back, “should I worry about Section31?” she asked very quietly.
