657 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: Starbase 400, Ops
Timeline: Following K'Temoc's last post

ON:

Several minutes later, K’Temoc arrived in Ops. He nodded and smiled at everyone as he walked over to his brother. As he approached he locked eyes with Mike and his expression changed to one of anger.

“What the hell is your problem?!”

Bremer turned around to look at his younger brother, “Excuse me, Captain?”

“I said, what the hell is your problem?! You know Clark is mine, and you pull me from the mission?! Admiral” K’Temoc replied, his tone clearly one of anger.

Mike looked around at everyone in Ops, including Pike and Harrion who had just arrived. Everyone was watching the two of them. “Everyone, back to work.” He looked back at K’Temoc, “My office, NOW!”

Harrison's eyes widened as she looked over at Pike and whispered, "Awkward."

Lee nodded and whispered back:"Yea just got to love sibling rivalry."

The two of them walked into the Admiral’s Office and as the door shut behind them. As it did, in a normal tone of voice, K’Temoc quickly said, “Computer cease all recording in his room, Authorization K’Temoc-44-Tango-Bravo.”

Bremer waited for the computer to beep before speaking, once it did he said, “Nice little show you put on out there. You must of found out something.”

K’Temoc nodded, “I believe so. All signs point to what we were thinking. Dr. Bashir reached out to a few sources he knows. He said most of them were either going deeper into hiding, or plotting a way to come after me. Also, Admiral Ross has not responded to my messages.”

“Mine either.” Mike replied as he nodded. “I think we’re on the right track. What’s your play?”

“I believe Clark still has someone aboard the Station, just not who. We send the Steadfast out, Harrison in command. Make every effort to show I’m staying here. Once the Steadfast departs, they beam me over. Clark’s ‘M. O.’ has always been to get under someone’s skin, play off on their emotions. He’ll get wind that Alex is commanding the mission and he’ll adjust his tactics for her. That’s when we’ll have him!” K’Temoc laid out his idea. It was broad, left a lot of room for modification once the action started.

“Do it.” Mike replied as he picked up a PADD and started to quickly type as he headed for the door.

As the men exited, their expressions went back to anger keeping the illusion of an argument going. K’Temoc and Mike walked over to Harrison and Pike...

“Captain,” K’Temoc started, his voice was quite but there was still a hint of anger, “You’ll be commanding the Steadfast on this mission.”

"Sir?" She wasn't sure if she should be excited or nervous.

Mike reached over and handed her and PADD, “Alex I know you’ll be able to carry out the mission. Here are your orders. Pike, you’ll serve as her XO.”

Alex took the PADD from him. She glanced over at Pike and then back at Bremer, "Yes sir."

Lee glanced over at Alex then looked back at Bremer:"Yes sir."

“I know the team is already a man short with O’Reily in Sickbay, but this can’t be avoided. The two of you and Mr. Smith can handle things. The Steadfast is a fine ship with a good crew. Good hunting.” Mike added.

"Yes they are. Thank you Admiral." Harrison gave a glimpse of a smile.

Lee:"Excuse me sir but was thinking, with O'Reily in Sickbay was wondering if would be ok to bring Sgt. Maal along on this mission?"

"Alex?" Mike looked at Harrison.

"It's fine with me sir. I'm sure he will be a great addition to the Steadfast crew." Plus she knew that they could trust him.

"Approved." Mike quickly replied.

A moment later, K’Temoc headed for the turbolift.
